WASHINGTON — A University of Texas poll to be released today shows Republican presidential candidate John McCain and GOP Sen. John Cornyn leading by comfortable margins in Texas, as expected. But the statewide survey of 550 registered voters has one very surprising finding: 23 percent of Texans are convinced that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is a Muslim. Obama is a Christian who was embroiled in a controversy earlier this year about his two-decade membership in Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ. Yet just 45 percent of those polled identified the Illinois senator as a Protestant. The Obama-is-a-Muslim confusion is caused by fallacious Internet rumors and radio talk-show gossip. McCain went so far at one of his town hall meetings to grab a microphone from a woman who claimed that Obama was an Arab. The Texas numbers are unusual because most national polls show that just 5 to 10 percent of Americans still believe Obama is a Muslim — less than half the number of Texans who buy into the debunked theories. The UT poll shows McCain running ahead of Obama statewide, with a 51 percent to 40 percent margin. Cornyn, a first-term Republican from San Antonio, leads Rick Noriega, a state representative from Houston, 45 percent to 36 percent. Another 14 percent of voters remain undecided in the contest. The poll found that 89 percent of Lone Star State voters say the country's economic situation is worse than a year ago. And President Bush and Congress both get record low marks. Just 34 percent of Texans approve of Bush's job performance — a big change for a former governor who won re-election 10 years ago with 70 percent of the vote. And Congress is even more unpopular:

He's already so much as said he would allow the institution of sharia law in such areas as Dearborn, MI and Passaic, NJ. He believes it to be a 1st Amendment issue, something along the lines as religious marriages being recognized under civil law.
To me, it is moot as to whether he is a muslim. I do however, believe that he is sympathetic to at least the Palis over Israel,. I also believe he is sympatico with marxism.
Only 23%? He and Osama do both have friends who have bombed the Pentagon. He was a member of a church that practiced Afrocentric Theology (Not Christianity). He was involved in organizing the Million Man March with Louis Farrakhan. He will not release many documents that might prove he is not an enemy of the United States (maybe not). He has preached Marxism in the classroom. He has made Marxist Statements every time he has been unscripted. Exactly, why would anyone not think he is a Muslim or at least an agent for a foreign government?

Before you bring it up — I’ll admit it — my step-father was also a Catholic and he did move my mom and me to Spain — which is also (I guess) a Catholic country — and sure he registered me on official government documents as a “Catholic”... but that was really just a... well... a silly little typo (that he kept making over and over)

People forget their religious beliefs all the time! Once I thought I was Jewish for a whole weekend! Heck — for at least the last 18 months or so I’ve thought I was Jesus!
Sure, I went by the name Barry — ummm — I mean “Frank” for a little while in High School — but then I made a big point of insisting later that everyone call me “Francis Xavier” — because I really, really wanted to emphasize how NOT Catholic I am. ‘cause I’m not — really — I swear. See, a REAL Catholic wouldn’t swear right?

Who cares what Muslims think? If someone wants to convert away from Islam, or stops practicing the religion and becomes an atheist, they are no longer a Muslim. Islam doesn't have a veto over Muslims leaving that religion.
There's no indication that Obama is a Muslim, but he isn't a Christian, either. His membership in Wright's church was for political reasons only. Obama worships two things- himself and power.

You betcha! The only school record to which the public has been allowed access identifies him as a Muslim, and who would sit in Rev. Wright’s church for 20 years thinking THAT was Christianity!!! Plus, he stumbled on this issue with Stephanopoulos, even though he was given a clear chance to deny it then. He’s a liar!! We have freedom of religion in this country, but if he can’t admit his faith, what else isn’t he telling us?
Because moslems can lie to infidels (which is what you are).
What moslems can't do is be baptized and there is no evidence Obama has done that. Once you cross the baptism line with your actions, they'll kill you no matter what you say. Prior to that, you can say whatever you want, and he does.
