Palin rallies thousands Indiana ("traffic backed for miles")
Kentucky.com ^ | 10/29/08 | Musgrave

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin pledged to lower taxes and get big government out of the lives of everyday people in a stump speech Wednesday designed to shore up voters in the now hotly contested Indiana presidential race.

Organizers were expecting 10,000 people to attend the rally at a private warehouse in Jeffersonville, a bedroom community to Louisville. Kentucky Republicans expected thousands of people from the Bluegrass state to cross the river to attend the rally.

Traffic was backed up for miles on Interstate 65 going into the event — many people with tickets couldn't make it to the gates before the Alaskan governor began her speech shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Palin stuck to central messages of the McCain-Palin campaign — that a vote for Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama and vice president Joseph Biden was a vote for big government and more taxes.

"Indiana, you shouldn't be working for government," Palin told the crowd. "Our government should work for you."

Palin also pledged that she and McCain would end the country's dependence on foreign oil.

She spoke of an energy policy that includes an "all of the above approach," including increasing domestic drilling for oil and developing clean coal technologies as well as alternative energy sources.

"We will develop clean coal technology," Palin said. "We will safely drill here and now."

The raucous crowd then began the now-famous chant of "drill, baby, drill." The crowd, many of whom carried signs with catch phrases from the Republican campaign, also broke out into the chant of "Sarah, Sarah, Sarah," during her approximately 40-minute speech.

Palin also pledged to be a friend to families with children with special needs. Palin has an infant son, Trigg, who has Down Syndrome.

During her speech, Palin pointed to a sign carried by one parent that said their child was also "exxtra" special like Trigg, referring to the extra chromosome that children with Down Syndrome have.

"John and I have a vision of a American where every innocent life counts," Palin said to applause.

Palin also reminded the crowd that McCain was the only candidate in the race who was a veteran. McCain is a decorated Vietnam War veteran and former prisoner of war.

"There is only one man in this race who has ever really fought for you," Palin said.

When McCain wins the election next Tuesday, he should give a huge hug to Sarah Palin. She will be the main reason he wins.

She is going to bring out the Republican base like nobody thought possible.

Yeah, for such losers, they still draw huge crowds. The election is over for sure! Heh.

There is a fear that Hossier people have falledn fully for Oprah’s Obama and want to repent for voting for “old” Dole in 1996.

I know this if 'off topic', but what is a 'bedroom community'?  I've looked it up, but nothing really explains it.  Thanks!

Have we heard of any traffic being backed up for miles for an 0bami rally?  Or were they already there due to a free concert, free cheese, free beer, etc.

I know this if 'off topic', but what is a 'bedroom community'?

A commuter suburb, where everyone commutes to the city to work, so in effect they just sleep there.

And mind you, she and McCain do this WITHOUT a band like Springsteen first performing to gather a crowd.

People have been coming to speeches of Obama due to bands giving free concerts first.
Many at these crowds probably could care less about Obama being President.

I've already voted for John and Sarah. And I love to see people respond like this.

Indicates maybe that the MSM have gone one direction and the citizenry of this country have gone a completely different direction.

Latest: from Governor Palin on the campaign trail
by Greta Van Susteren

I got emailed notes from Governor Palin’s latest campaign rally:

LIVE
JEFFERSONVILLE, IN

In a massive empty warehouse here filled with 16,000 boisterous supporters (according to the fire marshal) Palin rallied one of her largest crowds—many supporters were dressed in Tito the Builder construction hats.

"...what is a 'bedroom community'?"

I live in what I called a bedroom community. There are 3 separate cities and the city I am living in had no businesses to speak of. Only homes with bedrooms, therefore "Bedroom community." That is now beginning to change. We are finally getting businesses.
