WHAT'S WRONG WITH A MARXIST?
boblonsberry.com ^ | 10/29/08 | Bob Lonsberry

Posted on 10/29/2008 5:59:48 AM PDT by shortstop

In 2001, Barack Obama said he saw aspects of Nazi Germany in American society and government.

He also said the U.S. Constitution was fundamentally flawed.

And that he was disappointed that the Supreme Court had not ordered federally administered financial equality as part of the civil rights movement.

He also called for a political coalition to be formed that would force “redistributive” policies on the American people – using the power of government to equalize wealth across the society.

In 2008, that political coalition is about to take power.

It’s called Obama ’08.

And more surprising than the fact that a candidate for American president should harbor these political views is that nearly half the people in the country don’t see any problem with them. The fact he holds such anti-American views is attributable to his own particular history and values. The fact tens of millions of people can be taken in by such views is attributable to a social and educational system that has failed to teach a love of country and an understanding of its unique history and values.

Unfortunately, we have raised a generation – and a candidate – steeped in Karl Marx instead of John Locke.

Karl Marx was a German philosopher of the middle 1800s who believed that property should be communal, that the money and labor of everyone should be thrown into one government-controlled pot and then passed back out to people based on their need.

He said, “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.”

His teachings are the foundation of Communism and the governments of the Soviet Union, China and Cuba. He inspired Josef Stalin, Fidel Castro, Ho Chi Minh and Mao Tse Tung.

John Locke was an English philosopher of the late 1600s. He believed that people were only free if they were economically free. If you are not free to control the fruits of your own labors, then you are not truly free – you are a slave to whoever can take possession of what you produce.

His philosophy was, “Life, liberty and possession of property.”

His teachings are the foundation of the government of the United States of America. He inspired Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, various other Founding Fathers, Voltaire and Rousseau.

Nowhere are John Locke’s teachings better encapsulated than in the Declaration of Independence. Nowhere are Karl Marx’s teachings better repudiated than in the Declaration of Independence.

Karl Marx taught that the individual is inferior to the state. John Locke taught that the individual is superior to the state. Karl Marx preached the collective will. John Locke preached the individual will.

Karl Marx called for central planning and control of society and its members. John Locke called for a society comprised of members planning and controlling their own lives.

The philosophies of Karl Marx and John Locke are mirror opposites. They are irreconcilable and mutually exclusive.

The Founding Fathers wrote a Constitution for our Republic that reflected, among other things, the values of John Locke. The supporters of Karl Marx have, for some 150 years, been the enemies of America and its Constitution.

The Constitution is the core of America. It is both the agreement that binds the states together and the rulebook that defines what this country is. It includes a Bill of Rights that guarantees liberties – listed and unlisted – to American people as individuals.

When people go in the Armed Forces – or become presidents of the United States – they swear to uphold and defend the Constitution.

It does not seem that Barack Obama could honor that oath.

If he considers the Constitution fundamentally flawed, and his own personal views contradict its very nature, how can Barack Obama uphold and defend it? How can a man who sees parallels with Nazi Germany in American society possibly love this country?

Barack Obama said that he believes the Supreme Court has the power to control all property in the United States and order its redistribution equally to everyone in the country. That means he believes you don’t have a right to your property, or to the money you earn. He believes the government can take that from you as it will, and parcel it out however it sees fit.

That’s “sharing the wealth.”

He also said that he wanted to organize a political coalition that would be – using his favorite word, again – “redistributive.” At the very foundation of his political career and philosophy is the belief that government-guaranteed equal rights isn’t enough, what really counts is government-guaranteed equal wealth.

The problem with that is that people are different. People have different talents, and work ethics, educations and ambitions. To assure equal outcome requires you to extinguish individual rights and opportunity.

When you guarantee that one citizen will not fail, you likewise guarantee that another citizen will not succeed. Without freedom to do the one, there is not freedom to do the other.

The Obama way is not the American way. The American way values individual freedom and encourages individual success. It honors self-reliance and recognizes that the government is our servant, not our master. It abhors tax slavery and considers that any man who takes another man’s money is a thief.

In 2001, speaking freely on public radio, Barack Obama was a Marxist.

In 2008, playing word games on the campaign trail, Barack Obama is still a Marxist.

Shame on him.

And shame on a society so ignorant of its very nature that it neither notices nor cares.

The question should be, “What’s right with a Marxist?” The list would be far shorter.

In 2001, Barack Obama said he saw aspects of Nazi Germany in American society and government.

No, he didn't. He was talking about what was motivating the USSC in the 1940's after another speaker was talking about horrible atrocities inflicted on blacks in the 1920's 30's and 40's. I want to win as much as anyone but this out of context stuff is just dishonest.

Obama already has basically said he is a Marxist. Why would so many people want to be under Marxist type control? This whole election has totally blown my mind.

The problem is that since history really isn't taught, and that those in charge of education are the same ones who were enamored with socialism, communism, and Marxist economic and political philosophy, it shouldn't be a surprise.

I don't think that anyone under 30 is aware of the oppression of the Soviet Union, or remembers seeing people risking their lives (or losing their lives) trying to get out of East Berlin.

Che is now a popular t-shirt logo, as opposed to the murderous agitator he really was.

Why is it that nobody has equated Obama's statements about "spreading the wealth around" with his lamenting on the court NOT ruling for "economic justice," and his promise to appoint leftist, activist supreme court justices, just like the ones who upheld the Kelo case?

Kelo was an attack on the concept of private property, which is anathema to socialists.

Or an educational system that taught Marxism since 1962. The teachers now teaching were all taught by Marxists, and had to please Marxist professors to get their degrees and teaching certificates.

A lot of this planning in advance was discussed by Tom Hayden, way back when:

I think the key to getting this out with impact is to find and publish all historic documents and correspondence associated with planned parenthood, linking it to the “negro project”.

No doubt they wouldn’t refer to that project these days...
but they may have been less careful in earlier years.

Where is the proof linking PP to this “project”?
If it exists, it needs to come out!

All of you parents out there who spent your life's savings sending your children to Marxist madrassas posing as public universities share a great deal of the blame.

You let communist professors like Barack Obama brainwash your kids and you pay them well to do it!

I have been saying this for a long time.

Stop financing communist indoctrination of your own children!

After you try to raise your young children with the proper values, you turn them over to communist bastards who are living off your hard-earned money while they lie to your children about the fundamental principles and history of the United States of America.

Stop being stupid!

Starve these communist madrassas of money and they will die and the propagandists will have to get jobs delivering pizza and shoveling manure out of barns which is their true calling.

How many shades of pink does it take to get from fascist to communist? Both ideologies are about the attempt to replace the Creator that bestowed upon HIS creation the basic fundamental rights of 'life', 'liberty', and pursuit of happiness'.

Whittaker Chambers wrote the following:

The revolutionary heart of Communism is not the theatrical appeal: "Workers of the world, unite. You have nothing to lose but your chains. You have a world to gain." It is a simple statement of Karl Marx, further simplified for handy use: "Philosophers have explained the world; it is necessary to change the world." Communists are bound together by no secret oath. The tie that binds them across the frontiers of nations, across barriers of language and differences of class and education, in defiance of religion, morality, truth, law, honor, the weaknesses of the body and the irresolutions of the mind, even unto death, is a simple conviction: It is necessary to change the world. Their power, whose nature baffles the rest of the world, because in a large measure the rest of the world has lost that power, is the power to hold convictions and to act on them. It is the same power that moves mountains; it is also an unfailing power to move men. Communists are that part of mankind which has recovered the power to live or die -to bear witness-for its faith. And it is a simple, rational faith that inspires men to live or die for it.

It is not new. It is, in fact, man's second oldest faith. Its promise was whispered in the first days of the Creation under the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil: "Ye shall be as gods." It is the great alternative faith of mankind. Like all great faiths, its force derives from a simple vision. Other ages have had great visions. They have always been different versions of the same vision: the vision of God and man's relationship to God. The Communist vision is the vision of Man without God.

It is the vision of man's mind displacing God as the creative intelligence of the world. It is the vision of man's liberated mind, by the sole force of its rational intelligence, redirecting man's destiny and reorganizing man's life and the world. It is the vision of man, once more the central figure of the Creation, not because God made man in His image, but because man's mind makes him the most intelligent of the animals. Copernicus and his successors displaced man as the central fact of the universe by proving that the earth was not the central star of the universe. Communism restores man to his sovereignty by the simple method of denying God....

Could you try to be just a little more insulting? I and many like me attended a public university, myself during the early 70s. The majority of the officers I served with during my military career attended public universities and that is still true today.

Indoctrination works on those who are non-critical thinkers and who have never been taught how to filter the BS and argue for a point of view.

Part of raising children with proper values is teaching them to think for themselves and weigh the value of ideas. If you teach your kids those skills along with the right values they are unlikely to become indoctrinated.

Yeah, there are plenty of marxists at various institutions but when it comes down to not falling for the lies the responsibility for making your kids ready for the world (university or workplace) outside of your control is in your hands. If you can’t get them to that point then try to lock them up in a monastery or nunnery.

Dear Shortstop:

That is my sentiment exactly. Just one election ago, and even more so 3 or 4 elections ago, any one of those elements would have been enough to sink the candidate that held those views.

Obama has about 8 of those anti-American, Marxist views, and its like nobody cares. It’s one thing to tax and spend, but it quite another to tax and give to someone else to make the recipient more wealthy than he was through state redistribution.

And he states that Constitution is flawed. Here’s the deal everyone should be scared about: since Obama thinks it flawed, when he gets into office, he’s going to try to fix it, according to how he believes it should be fixed. To me, someone who attempts to change the Constitution, calls it deeply flawed, is an enemy within, as a dangerous as any Al Quaeda terrorist.

I'm not arguing with Whittaker Chambers, a man whom I admire and respect. Simply put, I be lived that Obama’s views have more in common with fascists that with communists. Two examples come to mind. Obama has said little about collectivizing agriculture, always a sensitive issue with communists but not with fascists. And he has never said he would nationalize the “commanding heights” of commerce, as did Lenin but never Hitler. Lenin wanted to own business, while Hitler merely wanted to control it.

Now, Obama may have plans to do both these things and many others as reprehensible but until he proposes then, I believe a more accurate description of him would be as a fascist and not an othodox communist. Although he spent much of his youth in the company of communists, he seems to be a “redistributionist”, rather than an expropriator. As but these ideologies are of the Left, movement between them is frequent. Lets remember that Mussolini began his career as a communist or hard left socialist; and Hitler lived and died believing he was a socialist.

Of course, the ideological distinctions between the groups
(fascists, socialist, and communist) are of degree, not quality. All aim at the subjugation of man by man; at the elimination of the Judeo/Christian faith as central focus of moral authority; and all aim at the worship of the state rather than a Divine Creator.

This country was established in opposition to the political ideas of Europe. All three of these ideas are imported from Europe; they are alien to the system of government established in this country; and they seek to reshape our republican democracy into a state whose relationship with its citizens is fundamentally different from that which has been the cornerstone of American uniqueness and greatness.

Given in 2001 on public radio interview Bama was accusing US as akin to Nazism/Hitler, I would suggest that he comes from the original ... communism....

Note Bama slipped up big time in Joe the Plumber's front yard with his wealth distribution threat.... No prompter to keep him in focus. He is just the image of the bigger plot to reformulate the communistic system and Hitler is even still the communists scapegoat. They sure did not mind joining with him when it suited their intentions. Hitler took advantage of that seed bed that emerged, once again at the end of WWI and for practical purposes took the attention off the real bloody system that continued to literally destroy hundreds of millions of humanity these freaks claim they are about protecting. Hitler sought to take advantage of what communism already presented him.

Bama does not know squat regarding agriculture and if one looks closely in our present governmental rewards we are darn near there in a collectivist system.

Of course Obama would seek to king the US with Fascism or Nazism. Such charges are a staple of the Left. The critical understanding is that Nazism (or racial fascism) and Communism are ideologies of the Left.

Much propaganda has been produced to convince people that Fascism/Nazism is an ideology of the Right and Socialism/Communism are ideologies of the Left. No idea could be more inaccurate. All four of these doctrines are to the left of the center of political spectrum, although where each should be placed is a matter of debate.

I realize the Hitler and Stalin engaged in a war of destruction, but this was more in the nature of a family quarrel. It was a struggle between two ideologies with different conceptions of the role of man, of God to man, and man to the state.

Both ideologies worshiped the state. They run counter to the notion of individual liberty as propounded by John Locke, Adam Smith, or Edmund Burker. All four were imported from liberty and have nothing in common with the notions of man and his relationship with the state that is embodied in the US Constitution.

If you doubt the alien nature of Nazism/Fascism and Socialism/Communism, examine the ideas and attitudes of the American Left. They take their cues from Europeans intellectuals and political theorists. The American Left admires European culture, seeing it as superior to American; do not forget that Adolf Hitler had the same notion. The American Left admires the institutions of Europe, in particular the World Court and other transnational bodies. American Leftist cringe at criticism from European elites. The American Left seeks to transform this country into Europe in North America.
