NH Senate Race Illustrates Dismal Climate For GOP

CONCORD, N.H. -- Any other year, it might have been a defining moment. At a debate for New Hampshire's U.S. Senate race held in a small town near here last week, a moderator relayed a question from a man called Skip, who wanted to know how the candidates would stand up to their party's leaders.

Sen. John E. Sununu, a Republican completing his first term, noted his effort to include more civil liberties protections in the reauthorized version of the USA Patriot Act. But Jeanne Shaheen, the Democratic former governor of the state, struggled to answer even after being pressed by the moderator, offering boilerplate criticisms of Sununu's record instead.

"That's two tries and no answer to the question!" Sununu crowed. He pressed the point the whole next day, ridiculing Shaheen's answer and saying that New Hampshire voters wanted members of Congress who would think for themselves.

In spite of all of this, I wouldn't be surprised if McCain won this state.

What these idiots don’t realize is that all their efforts to suppress the GOP turnout only makes us more resolute in our efforts to make sure we vote.

These suppression efforts works for the unwashed left, but not for the right.

McCain’s numbers and Sununu’s are basically the same on Ras. I too think McCain will win and bring Sununu with him

Why believe one tiny, little word from these hyper-rat hacks? Why? There is no logical reason for anyone who has a minimally thinking brain with greater than three brain cells.

This race illustrates people’s downright stupidity too. Sounds like the writer is even admitting Shaheen is not very smart but she will win anyway. So I hope NH is happy with the higher taxes and loss of freedom that comes with a Demo stranglehold.

They quoted that one moron who voted for Nader in 2000 even though she otherwise sounds conservative. But she is voting Dem to break the “Republican stranglehold.” What the h*ll is she talking about?? If anything NH state government is Demo controlled now. With the Dems in power in Congress there is no GOP monopoly on power in DC. It is gasheads like this who will bring about America’s downfall, I hate to say.

All the polls have Obama leading. What makes you so confident? It went for Kerry in '04 and Dem in a huge way in '06.

Sunnu is gong to hold this seat - And if McCain can pull out a win here in NH (or the MSM can’t call NH for Obama early) this will be positive news early on election night.... The MSM will be dying to call NH for Obama as soon as they can...

please help get Sununu across the finish line. Frankly, IMHO his election is more important than McCain’s - at least in NH.

We’ll know McCain is winning when the MSM refuses to call NH.

Often when looking at footage of these campaign rallies, I will focus on the faces and demeanor of the people in the background. At the Democratic rallies, they are a sorry sight. They look like parasites who have never worked for a living and don’t want to. They look like babies who cry about how unfair life is and just luv someone who promises them goodies for free. Honestly, a lot of Americans of my generation (40-something) make me sick to my stomach.
