It's hardly a secret that Barack Obama is Europe's favorite U.S. presidential candidate.
But a new poll shows that in France, just 1 percent of people think John McCain should win the White House. By contrast, 78 percent back Obama, while 5 percent don't want either to win.
According to Reuters, the poll found the five largest Europeans countries were unanimously behind Obama in the U.S. race.

Our local fireplace shop is owned by a nice French couple, but (no surprise) they are totally committed socialists and Bush-haters. My small sample of two confirms this poll.
You should hear the woman go on and on about how “Bush’s War” is destroying the country. I just pretend to not until I get fed up and suggest we stick to business. It’s impossible to argue with a stone wall.

Have to disagree with you there, Chief. I think the French like Obama for 2 reasons...
First, they think the USA must atone for the sin of slavery. Just that simple: We need to be punished.
Second, they KNOW Obama isn’t a ‘cowboy’... in other words, he will mean a weaker, more pliant and compliant US (read: less resistance in the UN). The French want the US to be weaker... they want us to basically become a satellite of the EU.
Just my 2 cents.
Sarkozy is no conservative by American standards. And regardless, they don’t really care about our domestic politics; they prefer Obama because he opposes the war, and 90%+ of the French, even French “conservatives,” oppose the war.
Well, in retrospect, that's a higher percentage than stood up to Hitler's invasion.
The French love to surrender. They see Hussein Osam....bama as one of their own. Birds of a feather........., The French plant trees along their roads because the Germans like to march in the shade!
