At John McCains rallies these days, the talk is of taxes and Joe the Plumber and the financial crisis and mortgage relief and an end to wasteful federal spending. Those are all perfectly fine things for a campaign to emphasize; polls show voters of all stripes are overwhelmingly concerned about the economy. But at McCains events, youll also find people whove come for another reason, one that is slipping in the polls of voters concerns but is deeply personal to them: the war in Iraq.
I just gave John McCain my Purple Heart, Marine Sgt. Jack Eubanks told me a few minutes after McCain finished a speech at a campaign rally in Woodbridge, Virginia Saturday. I said, I want to give this to you, sir, as a reminder that we want you to keep your promise to bring us home in victory and honor, so it will mean something.

“Now, Eubanks and Greg Medina are counting on John McCain to keep his promise, should he become commander-in-chief.”
McCain no doubt will drive us nuts on more than a few issues if he’s elected, but he’s been rock solid on Iraq.
For me it’s the idea of Obama as CIC that’s so horrifying. It’s way too dangerous a time for the return of Jimmy Carter.
My husband and I are very scared.
A tip o’ the hat to you.
One of the better stories posted here today.

Lamh Foistenach Abu!
Too late for the tissue warning, but that’s no problem. It helps to keep my perspective and remind me that there is so much at stake during this election.
Honors to our brave service men and women.
My grandson Marine Bill Smith has flown to his duty point in Afganistan today - he probably has his boots on the ground now. Its his first deployment in the combat zone since his enlisting 19 months ago. I am praying for his and his fellow service men and women safety and honorable victory over those that wish to do us harm.

How many Purple Hearts did McCain receive during his service? Did you know Kerry got three?
The following are Senator McCain’s decorations:
Silver Star
Legion of Merit with Combat V and one gold star
Distinguished Flying Cross
Bronze Star with Combat V and two gold stars
Purple Heart with one gold star
Meritorious Service Medal
Air Medal with one bronze star and Numeral “2”
Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V and one gold star
Combat Action Ribbon
Prisoner of War Medal
Navy Expeditionary Medal (Cuban quarantine)
Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Cuban quarantine)
National Defense Service Medal
Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars
National Order of Vietnam (Republic of Vietnam)
Vietnam Campaign Medal with device (Republic of Vietnam)
Nice story, makes me hate the concern trolls and 3rd party conservatives on this board all the more. We can’t let Obama become Communist In Chief, we can’t do that to our soldiers.
Amen!
Thanks for posting :-)
De nada. Just adding to the thread.
“The Silver Star is the third highest military decoration that can be awarded to a member of any branch of the United States Armed Forces. It is also the third highest award given for valor (in the face of the enemy).” (from Wikipedia)
Just some added food for thought. When John Keery was lying before Congress, McCain was in Hoa Lo prison.
Keery = Kerry.
He was awarded the Silver Star because his resistance to torture prompted his captors to cease their torture of other prisoners.
Thank you for that information. I figured it must have been something related to while he was a POW, or perhaps something related to the carrier (Forrestal?) fire.
Oh, my...
Put your trust in God, dear Bush Revolution. Those who trust in Him will have His peace no matter what happens. And pray. Let’s take America back through intercessory prayer. Why do we sit around and let the socialists destroy our nation? Prayer is the only way to take it back.
Thank you for your sacrifice, we can never repay you and you have our prayers for his safety.
Pray for W, McCuda and Bill Smith
