PARIS (Reuters) - Just one percent of French people want Republican candidate John McCain to win the U.S. presidential election, and western Europeans overwhelmingly favor his rival Barack Obama, an opinion poll showed on Friday.
McCain's campaign derided Obama as a celebrity akin to Paris Hilton after the Democratic nominee toured Europe and gave a speech to a huge crowd in Berlin this summer. The Harris Interactive survey suggested the Republican would have struggled to draw such a large audience there if he had tried to.

If you think the leftist press is bad here in the USA, I can assure you that you would think the NY Times is hard right next to ‘Le Monde’ or any of France’s large news outlets.
Europe has an extreme leftist news media that is heavily populated by former Soviet era journalists who think propaganda is their prime directive. They have their dogma fixed and the news media is there to propagate it endlessly.
When you live in Europe, you nod your head to the Leftist press because otherwise they will make your life difficult in some fashion. PC is a way of life there. Same in France, you secretly pull the lever for Sarcozy but tell the press pollsters what you think they want to hear.
And if you still doubt what I have just said, then just read a few reports about those with McCain-Palin signs or stockers getting assaulted or vandalized. Then multiply that by 100 for Western Europe.

May be true, but if McCain yells at them, most of them will collaborate.
My only experience living with Frenchmen in France was among their very conservative and pro American Special Forces, no people anywhere are only 1% conservative.
If the poll had tried 6 or 8% I would doubt it but ignore it, but 1% is made up.
