Watchdog Files Complaint About Palin Wardrobe
Austin American Stateman ^ | 10/23/08 | staff

A political watchdog group on Thursday filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) about the Republican National Committee (RNC) spending nearly $150,000 on a wardrobe for vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) charged that the shopping excursions on behalf of Palin and her family violate a federal prohibition against candidates for federal office converting campaign funds to personal use.

“It is ridiculous that the RNC would spend $150,000 to outfit a vice presidential nominee and her family at any time, but it is more outrageous given the dire financial straights of so many Americans and the state of our economy,” CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan said in a statement accompanying the complaint.

The RNC has said the clothing will be donated to charity. Whether doing so would avoid violating federal campaign laws is unclear.

A news organization, Politico, disclosed this week that the RNC purchased designer clothing and accessories for Palin and her family, including $49,425 at Saks Fifth Avenue and $75,062 at Neiman Marcus.

Now why on earth is the MSM covering this crap, but has yet to whisper a word about the Berg Lawsuit - especially Osama's attempt to get it tossed out instead of producing his real birth certificate???

Apparently these idiots haven’t read that the RNC is donating all of the clothing after the election (win or lose) to charity.

If one did not contribute to the RNC and has no intention of voting for McCain/Palin why bitch and moan over it? I could care less.

The MSM completely ignores MILLIONS in campaign donations to Obama from foreign sources. Thousands of alphabet soup "names" on donor lists that can't be confirmed as legal donors. Can you say totally biased?

I find it strange they have a problem with people buying clothes, but not the free gifts from designers that exceed regulations, a true violation of FEC rules.

This is an advertising expense. They didn’t buy the clothing for HER, they bought it for the CAMPAIGN!!!!! these things are nuanced, but sometimes nuance matters.

Because it fits their agenda of electing Obama.

That said, the RNC is stone deaf, blind and stupid about “Real America”. After criticizing Obama for being a “celebrity” they then outfitted Sarah like one.

The RNC have treated Gov. Palin like a Barbie because the are insulated urban elites trying to remake her into their own country club image.

If we win this election it will be entirely because of Sarah and in spite of the dumb ass RNC and stubborn Maverick McCain.

You know that Obama's Clothes are the same situation. The emperor’s new suit is bought and paid for by the Obama Campaign is is Michelle’s clothes and their expensive snack tastes.

They can make this just another issue of going after Sara Palin but its a fact of life that the expense accounts of candidates while traveling on the road is pretty extreme.
The Emperor to be is an empty suit!
Michelle to Barack! Sweetie?
I think that I will order a little room service
Just a little light snack
Little people eat McDonald's
but I'm on the $400,000,000 Campaign express
Nobody will audit my expenses

Sweetie “ I really love the Iranian Osetra Cavier
” When we go and meet Mahmoud Ahmadinejad maybe he will send me back to the Whitehouse with some free samples.”
Heck I would give him anything he wants for more of this Cavier.
Even Israel
George Soros told me it was the best.

I'm not sure whether to nominate that sentence for the "most-glaring non-sequitur of the year" award, or to report it to the nearest Human Rights Commission for bigotry against "straights".

As to how the RNC spending $150,000 could possibly be seen as outrageous given the dire straits that many Americans supposedly face right now, I'll wait and see whether confused Melanie follows it up with concern and outrage at Obama spending 600 million dollars on a campaign for a Federal office that only pays an annual salary of about $400,000. Or concern at how the taxpayers of Chicago will be paying $$$$millions for Obama to throw a 'victory' block party the very evening of the day when he's going to get beaten at the polls, etc. etc.

“Did Hillary pay for all her big-ass pantsuits?? I’d bet not a penny.”

No, the designer donated them to Hillary, because she wanted the publicity.

I understand Hillary’s pantsuits are valued at $6,000+ each (wow, women pay a lot for clothing.) Before her Dem convention speech, didn’t she have like 5-6 of them on stage trying to figure out the best color one to wear?

Isn’t that like a $36,000 donation to Hillary’s campaign (way over the limit I think.) Aren’t senators prohibited from taking gifts that large?

So when are you "Watchdogs" going to file that complaint to FEC about Obama getting millions in campaign donation from foreign sources?

Plenty of people have audited your bogus Photoshop, but you keep posting it. Pushing a discredited story does not help.
