Yep, and then there are the ones east of the Sierras.

Don’t everyone get their panties in a wad — As VP, she has to support the policies of the Prez candidate — that’s how it works.

If she is running for Prez, her own policy on illegal immigration may be completely different. We’ll have to wait and see.

She and Bob Barr have the same position.

Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska?
I don’t know, I don’t know. That’s a good question.

As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported?

There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that’s not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?

No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They’ve got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?

I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

And the last question would be about politics. You only have two more weeks left...
Yes

First we need to dispose of “That One”.

McCain is a problem with some of his stances on some issues.

“That One” is a disaster across the board.

in her first interview with a Spanish-language network. The interview began with Univision anchor, Jorge Ramos

At this point in the election, you say whatever it takes to get votes or stop loosing them. If McCain/Palin felt it was time to try and stop the bleeding in this segment of voters, let them say whatever it takes. Maybe if Duncan had better insight on how to walk the tight-rope, he could be our candidate today. I hope he's watching, paying attention and maybe learning something from all of this. McCain knows from what happened in the Senate over a year ago how we all feel about immigration. He even publicly admitted it after the bill failed. Those on the other side of aisle crawled back under their rocks, including Obama. This is not the time to start picking at this scab!

No amnesty until the borders are sealed up. Get the borders sealed then we’ll work on those already here. First thing would be to seek out those that are murderers and guilty of violent crimes, even if they have families and deport them pronto. One thing at a time. jmo

Dude, don't be so quick to throw her under the bus on this. Remember, she is NOT at the top of the ticket and HAS to toe McCain's line, like it or not.

Also, like it or not, she has to remain in lock step with him on these types of issues for the time being to avoid giving the MSM any more ammunition with which to pummel them. If Hunter were McCain's VP choice, he'd have to do the same. Any smart politician would. So, I'll give her a pass on this, considering the extremely hostile media she's having to confront.

I'm almost 100% positive that she does not agree with McCain on illegal amnesty despite what she says here, and there is evidence that she's getting somewhat frustrated with her new boss.

NBC's Chuck Todd says there's a 'tenseness' between John McCain and Sarah Palin

Just a thought: If we did round up all the illegals and send them back to Mexico, what would be the impact on the mortgages they all hold in the American banking system? I’m assuming that not ALL of them have defaulted yet.

It would be nice to say that the banks should just EAT the bad loans they should have resisted giving, but we all know that our “super hero” government would “feel” the need to step in and “rescue”.

What would be the possibility of receiving a check from the Mexican government for every mortgage holder we send back?

We are in quite the pickle aren’t we?

Palin's stock just plummeted 1000 points.

[Of course, she has to say she supports McCain's view on the subject, but we all know what his view is. McCain's position on illegals is little different from Obama's.]

That secure the border line is a crock. It means that the respective border governors have to 'say' their borders are secure.

Would Richardson or Arny or the gov of Az or the gov of Tx claim their borders are unsecure?

Of course not!

The secure the border line is just more of the same ole shellgame that has been going on for years.

“We secure our borders first. But then with a comprehensive approach we must deal humanely with those who are here, and we must allow the steps to be taken to protect the families of those who are here, maybe as illegal immigrants today,” she said.

Compassionate conservatism rears its ugly head once again. I'm not surprised, but we still have to vote for them, because the alternative is much much worse.

In 2012 though, the GOP will not be getting my vote unless there are real conservatives on the ticket. No more pretenders. I will give my vote to McCain/Palin this time around, but that's it. If the GOP wants to keep on taking Conservatives for granted, they'll be in for a nasty surprise when the election results are tallied in 2012.

If they truly secure the borders, THEN I would be willing to look at what is needed to handle the remaining problem. My guess is that IF they secure the borders, and enforce current laws on employment, there won’t be much of a problem left to handle.

In four years of Obama/Reid/Pelosi it won’t matter. Americans will be so angry over the amnesty and citizenship of 30-40 million illegals, and tens of millions of their following families, that even the Democrats will be running on a stop-illegal-immigration campaign.

Of course, there will be 30-40 million new Democrat voters, but that’s also McCain’s wish.

I believe the correct thing for any sovereign nation to do is to deport every illegal immigrant. And that’s me being charitable.

National sovereignty and ENFORCED immigration control go hand in hand.

{Frankly, I would like to deport all the anchor babies too.}

Whether politicians believe that we should assimilate the illegals or believe we should deport them, they probably find it expedient to SAY we should assimilate them — the latino vote and all.
