The Republican National Committee’s $150,000 investment in Sarah Palin’s wardrobe has prompted some teeth gnashing among the party’s big donors about its political sensibility and a feisty debate among campaign finance specialists about its legality.

“As a Republican Eagle and a maxed-out contributor to McCain’s general campaign, I’d like my money back – he can still have my vote,” complained one irate donor on Tuesday.

The only way Obama can win is to depress conservative turnout, with “Unnamed”(false) sources.

I’d say that few 150k investments ever made by the RNC have given so much to so many such at such low cost. She doesn’t need it, but anything that makes her even easier on the eyes is a gift to all.

I'm not going to even bother to read the article but if someone was to look at what Hillary Clinton spent during her campaign on fashion accessories I'm sure we would all be talking about how frugal Palin is in comparison.

When it comes to getting votes and positive reactions, especially in television appearnces, appearance is extremely important. That $150k investment will pay off 100 times over.

I think the idea that she has to look presentable etc etc is a given

BUT she is a very attractive woman with a great figure and nobody is going to convince me she or her kids need the OVERPRICED DESIGNER clothes from SAKs etc

That stuff is all status symbol and I defy anybody to tell me they can spot designer clothes over the kind everyday woman buy that fit well from regular department stores etc etc

Whoever made the decision to go this route was dumb

I think it’s money well spent. The first think I do when looking at her picture or video, is look to see what’s she’s wearing!

THIS IS SO PATHETICLY LAME!

The creatively in concocting these phony smear/hit jobs is sorely lacking. They need to go back to smear school. This is just such a lame attempt.

ARRRRGGGGHHH! They get away with murder!

The only way this is at all fair is to do a comparison of what ALL FOUR candidates report in spending on their wardrobe. IT IS THAT SIMPLE!

The main point is - it shouldn't even be an issue.

Do you really think Obama and Biden buy their suits at Mens’ Wearhouse? Do you really think they don’t put them on one of their expense reports?

no matter what they do - it will not be the “right” thing.

If Sarah were not being dressed well, she would be ridiculed for her redneck wardrobe.
The snobs would say “how could she ever represent the country looking like that?”
The snobs would say “it is embarrassing for our country”

This is a non-issue.
No one has blown more money than Barack Obama on frivolous things.

Sarah needed to look good and I think they made the right call.

I am sure this was the RNC’s idea—they should pay for it! I am sure they found her Northface coat disgusting, and her Kathy Lee Gifford skirts appalling!

They are getting their money’s worth.

But then they would have to expose the fact that the Obama’s have actually spent MORE!

We can’t have that!
