At John McCains rallies these days, the talk is of taxes and Joe the Plumber and the financial crisis and mortgage relief and an end to wasteful federal spending. Those are all perfectly fine things for a campaign to emphasize; polls show voters of all stripes are overwhelmingly concerned about the economy. But at McCains events, youll also find people whove come for another reason, one that is slipping in the polls of voters concerns but is deeply personal to them: the war in Iraq.
I just gave John McCain my Purple Heart, Marine Sgt. Jack Eubanks told me a few minutes after McCain finished a speech at a campaign rally in Woodbridge, Virginia Saturday. I said, I want to give this to you, sir, as a reminder that we want you to keep your promise to bring us home in victory and honor, so it will mean something.

oh yeah, I saw this all over the news/sarc
Go McCain/Palin!!!!!!!!
a video from the McCain/Palin rally in Bethlehem, PA. My daughter is at the very end of the video. Her husband is in Iraq and they both are voting for McCain. I just like what my daughter said to the reporter about McCain!

Fallujah
I think the outcome of this battle would have been very different if McCain had been the president.
******
Just one daisy cutter might have adjusted their attitudes towards Americans.
I still can’t believe we let them hang our soldiers from the bridge and didn’t level the place.
Wonderful story, Mr. Eubanks is a very special man and his patriotism sets a high bar for others to follow.
That’s great!
absolutely. We should have, would have ended things over there a lot sooner. Seems we went in with a bang and then it went on with a whimper.
There was a battle within the administration and a battle within the Pentagon.
Some wanted to get to Baghdad and leave and others wanted nation building.
It was a tough call and anything we say now is hindsight.
Fact is, we did what had to be done at the insistence of President Bush who said we were in it to win it not have a tie.
Great article, Bush Revolution.
Flagwaiver Ping, lily.
She done good! Bravo. V’s wife.
Wow I needed to read some reality today and this one just honed in on my mood. Thank you to the originator and kudos to the author - it is like finding gold in a barren field of what we are being given as newscasting these days.
Beautiful words - makes all the aching for goodness go away because deep inside I know the goodness still thrives within many.
We must never let it die. Too much has been sacrificed for us to lose our way. Too many have given their lives.
McCain/Palin '08
I hate he had one to give away....but it was for the RIGHT reason.
You have a pretty daughter.
This article made me cry. It brings home the real reason we must fight this American hating leftist. We cannot let down the boys and girls who have given so much for our freedom. I’m send the article to everyone I know.
Thanks. She is doing her best with her hubby away...she sends him the best ‘boxes’ from home, decorates them on the inside flaps for fall, his 30th b’day recently, Halloween; Thanksgiving and Christmas ones are on deck waiting to go. Keeps her sane!
Their little 2 1/2 yr. old for the first time got very upset about missing his Daddy the other day, he heard a car outside and excitely asked if Daddy was home. It’s been four months. Wherever he goes he’s been saying that ‘Daddy is at work far, far away’, just heartbreaking.
My daughter is already planning the best Welcome Home Party ever for next summer!!
Thanks, she’s been trying her best to be a good trooper!
Thanks, she and her husband are my heroes!
