From someone who works for this company, who shall remain nameless....the calls keep coming in. People are DVRing shows, and when they replay, it's channel 73 (the Obama channel)....when activating new receivers, the local channels revert to, again channel 73. There have been a couple of other threads on this subject that have kind of died out. I'd appreciate any and all input, or if you've had a personal experience to share. Thanks.

I apparently don’t have the service that has this channel, but my sister called and said it’s creepy. She said that if she didn’t know better (I’ve educated her), that listening to him on there would make her want to vote for him.

There are actually *2* channels, now.
[73 and 5890]

They are keeping track of complaints.

Call and complain.

Pitch a fit.

There’s also an Obama movie running now about his trip to Kenya.

[no, I did not sit through that gag-provoking piece of cinematic dreck]

We tried but we're still under contract.
It'll cost us almost $200 to cancel.
When the contract is up, we're switching.

Interestingly enough, the tech I talked to said they were getting LOTS of complaints and that he himself thought the channels were a travesty.

I can’t cancel, because I don’t have Dish. My apt. complex won’t allow it.
That said, this is so concerning to me.
Imagine one having to take calls consistently during a long shift, like I said before, with all these strange things happening....almost like this channel is being forced on customers. Believe me, for someone who has this job as their livlihood, it’s enough to want to bang their head against a wall.
And the company line is “Sen. McCain has the same opportunity to buy a channel”.

5890 must be the hi def channel. Funny, you knew that before I did!
And I can’t call and complain....for obvious reasons.

Has anyone done the research on why Obama chose Dish Network?
And the fact that this channel is turning up everywhere at random for subscribers is driving me up the wall!
I wish I could delve into this more. Like I said before, this is very disturbing.

He’s also on DirecTV now, but only as a video uploaded to DVR receivers. They also upload movies and informational videos to their DVRs. It’s not an actual channel, so you wouldn’t normally come across it.

WE pitched a fit and talked to a supervisor and they canceled with no penalty.

The thing that bothers me is, again, why when other channels are not available, it reverts to the Obama channel. It’s not just about him having his own channel, more disturbing is why, for some reason it’s trying to be forced on people. That scares the heck out of me.

It’s happening to me too, so I’ll be cancelling my service with Dish network today! To heck with complaining. The only way to really get their attention is to hit them where they live and that means cancellations!

What is even more insidious is, that high number channel is the actual satellite channel. 73 is a mapdown so it appears down there among your locals.

I just punched in channel numbers that don’t exist and my DVR just jumped up to the next available channel.

Is this something with newer units?

We did have the HD units but the hookup connections -sucked- so we went back to the regular 500 series DVRs.

I’ve got 73 on now.

Blah blah blah.

We’re so in love.
They’re such nice people.
Community service.
Gifted leaders.

Yada yada yada.

[in this show, he is almost totally gray...what’s up with that??]

She said that if she didn’t know better (I’ve educated her), that listening to him on there would make her want to vote for him.

Perhaps that is the mission of the backers of our potential President. Well, I've always had the mindset, as a patriotic American, that you respect your President, regardless of their political party. However, Barack Hussein Obama will NEVER be MY president, no matter how this potentially fraudulent (ie, ACORN) election goes.

Here’s an excerpt from a 1938 booklet written by a conservative about the New Deal. The thread has the entire booklet which is VERY interesting and VERY relevant to our times.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/929392/posts

An excerpt discussing the New Deal - sort of related to the movie:

No individual life escaped, unless it was that of a desert rat or cave dweller.

It was thus that the hand of paternal government, leaving first seized economic power, traced the indelible outlines of the American Welfare State.

In the welfare state the government undertakes to see to it that the individual shall be housed and clothed and fed according to a statistical social standard, and that he shall be properly employed and entertained, and in consideration for this security the individual accepts in place of entire freedom a status and a number and submits his life to be minded and directed by an all-responsible government.

When New Dealers speak in one breath of a welfare economy and with the next breath bitterly denounce pressure groups it may seem that they involve themselves in an ironical dilemma. It is easy to say: “What would you expect, since you have made division of the national income a matter of political bargaining where before it had been always a matter of economic bargaining?”

Yet they are right, the New Dealers. In the welfare state pressure groups, representing willful political action, cannot be tolerated. They will have to be suppressed at last, because in the welfare state the government cannot really guarantee social security until it goes to the logical end, which is to ration the national income in time of peace just as all goods and satisfactions are rationed in time of war.

On a recent flight to Alaska and looking at all the water, fiords, fishing and hunting areas I was thinking the same thing. Lots of places to get lost to and survive. Although I’ve never sailed - I think a sailboat would be the most self-sufficient.

There’s a thread about it (maybe a few!):

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2108325/posts

* * * * * *
Here was my post regarding a speech from earlier in the year:

http://neoneocon.com/2008/03/03/having-an-epiphany-about-obama/

March 3rd, 2008
Having an epiphany about Obama

Somehow I’d missed the following extraordinary statement (HT: Obama Messiah) made by Obama in a speech he gave at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, shortly before the primary in that state:

“My job this morning is to be so persuasive…that a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Barack.”

I can only assume—I can only hope—(and would it be inappropriate to say I can only pray?) that this sentence was delivered in a tone of gentle mockery, showing that he’s able to poke fun at himself, his hype, and those who seem to think he just might be the Second Coming.

Trouble is, I can’t find anyone describing him as speaking in that sort of tone. And if this line was delivered straight, in all seriousness—then be afraid. Be very afraid.

Clay, its a southern thing, probably picked it up as he swept through following Sherman’s path; not to worry, harmless - it’ll go away once he gets back to a steady diet of lobster and caviar by the hearth.

Also on the commercials during yesterdays college football games the Obama commercials were on there. You can press select on the remote control and it will give you Obama message.

No I didn't press select I was afraid I would get junk mail form Obama. I can't stand to look at him he creeps me out. During the debate I had to close my eyes when he was on. shivering...
