Jim Webb Takes Aim at Sarah Palin
Fox News ^ | October 17th, 2008 | Bonney Kapp

Posted on 10/17/2008 12:54:05 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Virginia’s soon-to-be senior senator, Jim Webb, was the warm up act for Barack Obama on the Democratic nominee’s seventh visit to Virginia since clinching the Democratic nomination.

Webb, who at one point was mentioned as a possible running mate for Obama, praised his colleague from Illinois for picking Joe Biden. “People know Joe Biden, and people know that he is capable in a moment of stepping forward and assuming the responsibilities of president of the United States,” he said.

And while he called John McCain a friend, he questioned the GOPer’s judgment. “Now John McCain chose Gov Palin,” he continued as the crowd loudly booed. “Do you really think that Sarah Palin was the most qualified person in the Republican party?” he questioned, reminding voters that the Republican ticket’s slogan is “Country First.”

Standing in a hall in front of more than 8,000 in red Southwestern Virginia, he continued, “I don’t know how many people here like country music, I like country music. There was a song about two years ago, ‘I know what I was doing but what was I thinking?’ I think John McCain is probably singing that sing right now.”

But he wasn’t done quite yet. “At the debate Governor Palin turned around and said, ‘Nice to meet you, can I call you Joe?’ And what I was really thinking is Joe what you ought to do is say, ‘Yeah, you can whatever you want and in two months you’re going to be calling me Mr. Vice President.’”

Plus her debate beat the Obama McCain debates.

“People know Joe Biden, and people know that he is capable in a moment of stepping forward and assuming the responsibilities of president of the United States,” he said.

Actually, I know a whole lot about Joe Biden, having watched him in action for some time and I know he is utterly incapable of being president of the United States. In addition to being not very bright, and as corrupt as they come, he is a liar and a plagerizer. Not my idea of presidential material.

“Senior” Senator from the Great State of Blagh is simply the one who’s been in office longer. When Jawn Wahnuh finally staggers out of the Senate for the last time, that will mean that Webb the Jackass will have been in office longer than whoever gets elected in November.

Time for Sarah to take aim at him. She could bring him down several pegs with one word.

Why won’t McCain let her loose? She’s great at hunting big game. She kicked butt in AK and she could do it here in the lower 48 too!

I doubt Webb enough knows what a Marxist is. He’s not exactly the sharpest knife in the cookie jar. He does the bluster thing on cue from his masters okay, but outside of that, he’s not exactly a intellectual power. Just one of the left’s token military stooges who’s too dumb to realize it.

Senator Webb,

Do YOU really think that Barack Hussein Obama is the most qualifed Demagogue your party could put forward to step IMMEDIATELY into the Presidency????

Your attacks on Governor Palin backfire (with honest people) because the Obamessiah is the #1 on your party’s ticket and he is far less qualified than Palin.

Only the scandal of the dishonest, severely biased MSM saves your party from having this pointed out EVERY single day.

Jim Webb Unmasked

-------Snip

You want income tax hikes? Jim Webb wants to give them to you–or rather, wants you to give him and his Democrat lackies more of your hard-earned money. Sure Webb attempted to dissemble and say that he only wants to soak the rich, but the last time Jim Webb’s good friends Bill and Hillary Clinton raised taxes “on the rich”, middle class taxpayers were hit with the largest tax hike in history. Jim Webb’s tax hiking and wealth redistributing ways probably shouldn’t come as a suprise given his professed admiration for the economic policies of Karl Marx.

Allen : Jefferson :: Webb : Marx?

I'm sorry, but my jaw dropped when I read this. We all know Allen has a fondness for Thomas Jefferson as a political mentor. So whom does Jim Webb look to for guidance?

Republicans might have joked about it before, but I kid you not: Jim Webb looks to Karl Marx:

This is outrageous, and possibly the first time I have ever seen a candidate for U.S. Senate quote Marx and Engels as a source for ideas.

Absolutely dumbfounded. What's next? Is Webb going to start quoting Heidigger and Nietzsche???

Obama campaigns with Webb in Va. Senate race

09/21/2006

--------Snip

Webb, a former Navy Secretary under Ronald Reagan and an academic who has written fiction and nonfiction books, laced his speech with paraphrases of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, who wrote in the 19th century about society's disconnect from its agricultural roots.

Just sent this to Webb's office...I don't expect much in the way of a reply. I tried to keep it non-partisan.
Senator Webb,

My daughter finds inspiration in the political achievements of both Senator Hillary Clinton and Governor Sarah Palin, among many other accomplished women. Therefore, it will not surprise you to learn that it distresses her to hear some of the fallacious, denigrating comments that have been made lately about Governor Palin.

Among the most distressing of these are the comments you made recently about Governor Palin that disparaged her experience. As my daughter pointed out, "...her experience is comparable to that of Obama's - and it's still often harder for a woman to gain that level of experience, even today." My daughter has correctly identified that two (or perhaps even three) standards of qualifications appear to be in place today - one for women, another for men (and perhaps even a third depending on party affiliation).

Unfortunately, I don't see evidence coming out of Washington that this is likely to change anytime soon. I know that it is unrealistic to expect that you will represent me to my complete satisfaction on policy issues - but I certainly expect your comportment, civility and sense of fairness to represent the best of your constituents. Please consider that when you speak, at least in public.

Sincerely,

Ann Coulter covered this quite well in a recent column - the Polls had Jimmy Carter leaps and bounds over Reagan in 1980, and then Mondale way over Reagan in 1984, and then Dukakis killing Bush I in 1988. Bush II was supposed to lose big to both Gore and Kerry, according to the Polls. Wishing just doesn’t make so. It must really irk the Left bigtime that their brainwashing skills are so inept. But, they are making headway, I must say. Already, the Lefties are saying that voter fraud is the only way to keep BHO from winning, due to his big lead in the Polls. Give me a break.

"2 terms makes you as senior senator? I say Macaca to Jim Webb"

Jim "The Pervert" Webb was elected in 2006. He is still in his first (6-year) term. He ran as a "Conservative Democrat" and then promptly voted totally left-wing-liberal. The media made a giant deal out a supposed 'macaca?' comment by Senator George Allen back in his college days alleged by some 'old classmates' or 'friends'. They kept it a front-page story for 6 weeks. I don't know what Virginians were thinking...

That said, Webb will only be considered the 'senior senator' because the incoming senator will be the 'junior'.

We can hope and pray that it is Jim Gilmore, but that would be the Hand of God and a miracle to give him the victory over Mark Warner.

“semi-conservative” is right. I’ve always felt McCain was semi-conservative, too. That’s why we’re in so much trouble.

I voted for Huckabee and know in my heart that if the Washington insiders hadn’t put the fix in that we’d be riding to victory with all the heavenly hosts with us. Sarah’s church is not my cup of tea (never held much with speaking in tongues), but I do believe she has accepted Christ as her saviour and was hoping for the best when McCain picked her.

But now I feel like he was just throwing us a bone and never meant to let her carry our standard. Washington insiders and false-flag conservatives like McCain will be the ruin of this country.

Webb appears to be choosing Party over Country. I expected better of him. Obviously I was wrong, and gave him far too much credit.

George Washington, a great Virginian, warned us against the evils that came from political parties. Webb is the classic example of Washington’s wisdom, writ large.

A pox upon Webb. And let all Virginians remember this when it becomes time to consider this re-electing this treasonous villain to his current office, or any other office he attempts to seek.

Oh my freakin' word...I just got Webb's reply to my email about his Palin comments. What a HUGE copout:
Dear Mr. XXXXXX:

Thank you for contacting my office to express your opinions regarding the 2008 Presidential Election.

Federal law and U.S. Senate rules prohibit me from using tax-payer funded resources within my Senate office to discuss issues pertaining to overtly partisan election matters. I appreciate hearing from Virginians as I serve them in the U.S. Senate. I hope you continue to share your views with me and my staff in the years ahead.

I invite you to visit my website at www.webb.senate.gov for regular updates about my activities and positions on matters that are important to Virginia and our nation.

Sincerely,

Jim Webb

United States Senator
I should write him back and ask him "So, Senator, where should I report you for violating those rules? You ARE a taxpayer-funded resource, so why do YOU get to engage in "overtly partisan election matters"? Yeesh.
