Glenn Beck joins Fox News
Politico ^ | 10/17/2008 | Michael Calderone

Posted on 10/17/2008 9:48:56 AM PDT by outfield

Drudge teased this earlier, and Fox News has announced that conservative radio and television host Glenn Beck is joining the network, leaving behind CNN's Headline News. Beck will host a show at 5 p.m. on Fox beginning in the spring (Full release after the jump).

It hasn't yet been determined when Beck's last day will be, but I've heard from a network source that Headline News was already preparing to re-air "Lou Dobbs Tonight" at 9pm, instead of Beck's show (which first airs at 7pm). When Beck leaves, Dobbs show will be in the 9pm slot, but no decision on 7pm.

"Glenn has been a terrific employee and colleague to many of us at CNN," a network spokesperson said in a statement. "We wish him well.”

Forget 5pm. Get rid of O’Blowhard and put Beck in his place. I’d start watching again even though Beck is sometimes depressing with his doom and gloom.

Too bad. The one show on CNN I could watch.

They were probably having trouble keeping staff for the Beck show among the CNN employee pool.

I have mixed feelings about this.

I love Glenn Beck, and am glad he will be on Fox, but it was nice that CNN had at least one conservative voice!

I wouldn’t doubt it.

Beck: “Obama wants to take your guns, guys.”

CNN cameraman: “Nooooooooooooo!”

I think Greta might be coming to ‘our side’. Her husband was a former Hillary supporter, who is now a McCain fan.

1. 5PM is too early.

2. Sorry to see Glenn associated with tabloid network Fox. Not that CNN is much better, but it is much less sensationalistic; ie no breaking news gongs every time a celebrity farts.

Glen mentioned this this morning. He said part of the reason is he believes their will be an “all-out assult on free speech” if Obama wins...especialy with the “Fairness Doctrine”.

Nope, not while he's good at looking out for me.

Not until she's finally nailed Casey, found Natalee Holloway's body, and discovered who killed Jon Benet Ramsey!

... and Whoraldo!...
Okay, but swap him for Joe Scarborough.

I hate to break it to ya but Great and her husband...formerly Hillary folks have both come on board for McCain ...her husband quite publicly

and Greta has been very genial for Palin

it’s hard to believe the same girl who once acted like OJ might actually be innocent is now pretty fair to us

Beck.....I’m ambivalent...his style is sorta bombastic

I don’t know how well Andrew Wilcow would translate to the screen but he is great.

After Rush and Sean, I listen to Wilcow and our resident Great One more than anyone...

Hi Jan!

I completely agree with you. While Glenn moving to FOX is great, there won’t be a conservative voice on CNN. Think of it, if you are someone who comes home and turns on CNN and walks around the house doing stuff, at least there’s a chance you’ll hear some of what Glenn has to say, and some of it might sink in. These are not the type of people who would even consider turning on FOX for any reason, so they’ll never get the message...even in small doses.

Hope he is successful as I expect that FOX Cable News along with all talk radio shows by Americans will be eliminated as soon as the anti-American left wing is elected. Will take 1 to 4 months to get the law passed but it will be done just as all churches will have to stop reading the bible to the public if they read anything that is considered hate.

God bless us all and hopefully we will survive.

Nice sign Fox News!

I found Glenn Beck, when I surfed because
I could not take anymore food fights on H&C.

That show is more rude and stupid than BOR.

If I need the kind of nonsense on H&C,
I can go to a bar and listen to a couple of drunks argue.

I’ve wondered before why he wasn’t on Fox. Why don’t they give him the 7:00pm slot? I’m not going to get to see him anymore if his show airs at 5:00pm. I’m still at work.

Fox News has announced that conservative radio and television host Glenn Beck is joining the network, leaving behind CNN's Headline News.

I am not surprised that CNN is dumping Beck.

He had to be a loose loose for CNN.

If people who were uncommitted politically became a Beck watcher they would inevitably stop watching CNN as they became more and more conservative in their views and figured out how biased CNN is in reality.

If some one is irretrievably leftist they would tune out CNN when Beck’s show came on they may well begin watching some other program on another network and never go back to CNN the entire evening.

It was a forgone conclusion that CNN would not keep Beck. He did not fit their viewer profile.

Can't say I blame him in that case. I agree that it improves his chances of riding out the censorship storm with his TV show after Obama effectively bans talk radio, at least for a while. Obama will no doubt go after them eventually as well, he's already whined about their impact on his poll numbers.

BTW, AN hour ago I picked up my tickets to see/hear Governor Palin in Loveland, Colorado this Monday! Can't wait. ;o)
