The star of Wednesday night's presidential debate used to live in Alaska.
And for once we're not talking Gov. Sarah Palin.
Long before he was "Joe the plumber," Joe Wurzelbacher lived in North Pole and Eielson Air Force Base, according to Alaska public records. Family members say Wurzelbacher came to the state in the mid-1990s and stayed about four years - long enough to have the son who can be seen standing next to him in the now famous clip of Wurzelbacher grilling Sen. Barack Obama about taxes.
"If Joe had his way, he would have stayed up here," said Kelly Morrison, of Anchorage. Her sister, Jennifer, is Joe's ex-wife.
Morrison remembers getting the call when the couple gave birth to a son in the Fairbanks area roughly 13 years ago.
"Jennifer had called up to Joe to tell him that she was in labor and Joe made it down the stairs just in time, his baby was delivered on the wooden floor in their home," Morrison said.
"That was a huge thing for us ... we joked with them and said, 'OK, you did it the Alaskan way,'" said Morrison, who was living Outside at the time. She later married an Alaskan and lives here in state.

If the guy is smart, he’d buy a sign for his vehicle, “Joe the Plumber”, hire a licensed plumber to work for him, run for the house, or the senate in whatever state he lives in...Ohio?...and run for president in four years...he’s already a leg up on everyone else.
It is insane. I was just thinking I know more about Plumber Joe’s past than I do Obama’s. Talk about a rigged set up. Sheeesh!

I read the story from the site but to me the site looked a little strange. Is this an alternative newspaper in Alaska, perhaps a paper that is a scandal sheet or similar to the Advocate type paper which is liberal rag that is put out in the Northeast? Just asking because the writing and presentation was odd, to me, but that may be because my radar is up this political season.
I agree with you that the time spent to find out about Joe the Plumber, should be spent on Obama’s past.
If the McCain campaign is too stupid to realize what an opportunity this is, they deserve to lose.

Joe did not attend an obama event. He was playing football with his son on his front lawn when the one and his goons intruded on his space for a photo op. The one stepped in it big time.
