Palin's press avoidance shocks Shriver
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | Wednesday, October 15, 2008 | Carla Marinucci,

Posted on 10/15/2008 12:11:08 PM PDT by Ugot2Bkidding

California first lady Maria Shriver - whose father, Sargent Shriver, ran for both president and vice president - said she finds it "unbelievable, jaw-dropping" that Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin so far has managed to sidestep news conferences and Sunday TV talk shows.Shriver, a prominent veteran broadcast journalist and bestselling author who is married to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, is preparing to interview and talk with dozens of international newsmakers, politicians and celebrities at her popular Women's Conference on Oct. 21 and 22 at the Long Beach Convention Center.

She quizzed Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama last year at the annual event. But she said Palin, running mate of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, will not be present to address the conference audience, estimated to reach 15,000 women in the convention center and as many as 1 million women who will watch it on the Internet.

"Actually, we did play around with that," Shriver told The Chronicle in a phone interview Tuesday. But "if one wants to do that, the real issue was that you'd have to do it (an interview) in a no-holds-barred way.

"So let's just say she's not coming," Shriver said.

Palin should have been doing 10 interviews a day, all live. She should have gone on Rush’s show immediately after the convention. The McCain campaign completely mishandled her for the first few weeks after the convention. They allowed their enemies to define her instead of allowing her to define herself. Shocking incompetence on the campaign’s part.

Dear Maria,

Vice President Sarah Palin will have plenty of time for interviews after Jan 20, 2009. Just make an appointment with the White House. They'll be glad to assist you.

Yeah, it's easy to avoid 'journalists' that only want to ask 'gotcha' questions and make Palin look bad.

Why should Sarah waste her time on drecks like that?

No reason for Gov Palin or ANY Republican to prostrate themselves before a Democrat, (ie press), who want them dead.

It just gives these faux journalists more credibility.

Her popular Women’s Conference...”her” popular conference with celebrities (the fake and the phony).

I wouldn’t go either...”F’em.”

There is this little thing called a campaign that John and Sarah are trying to win — but Maria, you are right, your event is far more important and significant in the grand scheme of things than anything that Governor Palin is doing.

Tell you what; Maria, have I got a deal for you — you get obie to sit down for an interview with Sean Hannity and I bet Governor Palin will show up and your silly little social club...deal.

Typical MSM questions:

1. Governor Palin, would you consider your cannibalism a hobby or an obsession?

2. Was it Dick Cheney or Karl Rove who ordered you to keep your baby?

3. You daughter Piper was paying more attention to spitting on her little brother than your convention speech. Are you abusing her by cutting down her Ritalin dosage?

4. You are evil personified and I hate you and all that you stand for.

(remember, this is my interpretation of the MSM, not my feelings. Please put down your moose hunting rifles.)

Get a grip Maria, she’s not the wife of a candidate she is the VP candidate on the Republican ticket and her time would be better spent speaking directly to the American people at rallies where she gets plenty of coverage as opposed to an ambush at your liberal love-fest.

And I’ll bet there won’t be 1 million viewing it on the internet.

Why bother. The msm makes up stuff and reports it as fact.

Which is why you bypass the filter. You don't do taped interviews with big names that can be edited later to make you look foolish. You do live interviews with local journalists in every town and city you visit.

Am I the only one who hates those California commericials where Maria and Arnold are sitting drinking wine after all these snippets of Californians “working” while actually playing? They bothered me before, but now that the economy of California is in debt for 7 billion dollars and the rest of us are paying for all those overpriced, bad loans that California has more than its fair share of...they seem like they are in particularly bad taste. Yes, Californians have been having fun and telling us that they have been working and now it is the rest of the country’s time to bail them out.

Let's finish the thought for her, "... and still manages to be a viable candidate." This is what she finds so jaw-dropping, the same complaint that Quinn and the rest of the lamestream have, "Wahhh, she won't (hasn't) talk to me!"

I'd like to have these gals remind me, just how many Sunday talking-head shows did Hillary Clinton go on when she was running for her Senate seat? I'll give 'em a hint: 0.

“And when McCain/Palin are in office, the MSM should continue to be shut out.”

The White House press core could be shut out, by extensive use of Air Force 1. Rather than using the White House press room to make important policy announcements; President McCain, or VP Palin could travel to various regional centres to make break the stories.

A friendly audience would be invited to a press conference of local media. The local media would be thrilled by the chance to break national stories & would be more likely to provide honest coverage (especially considering that there would be an audience of local citizens to keep them honest). The White House press corps (and, by extension, the MSM) would be left out of the loop, and rendered irrelevant.

Not just that, but what part of the California fiscal budget was used to pay for the production of the ad, buy the air time? You're short 9 Bn, but you can afford to advertise to try to attract tourist money. Okay.

Get used to it, Maria. As the MSM increasingly drops even the pretense of objectivity and sides openly with the Left, there's increasingly little reason for Republicans to take part in the one-sided farces that MSM news conferences and talk shows have become. Fortunately, there are plenty of new media outlets that aren't under the control of leftists.

The MSM had their chance to play it fair. What they did was chop out parts of the interviews, interrupt to change the topic in the middle of an explanation, and spread smears that were shear invention.

If Obama gets the presidency because of the MSM’s propaganda effort to cram Obama down our throat, we can blame them for the disaster.
