VANITY. Is the GOP/McCain out of money? Why aren't we running any tv ads.

Posted on 10/14/2008 8:33:14 PM PDT by watsonfellow

I thought we had money parity. Is this not the case?

GOP is spending nearly $160,000,000 after the debate and up to the election. :-)

It seems that McCain would rather take shots at fellow Republicans than at Obama.

I pray that the undecided and swings voters aren't swayed by the preponderance of pro-Obama reporting in the MSM and by the polls.

I read on a post a few days ago that the GOP had $160 million they were going to spend the last couple of weeks of the campaign. I think the strategy is to bombard the airwaves the last couple of weeks so that the most current information that voters hear are the McCain ads. I usually remember the latest information I hear....don’t know about others. Also, I imagine that the ads will be strategically aired in battleground states.

It does depend on your location but I can tell you that there are many non-RNC ads up and running on radio, tv and the 'net, plus you never show your cards until you need to!!!!

Hint: "Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em" and definitely never let your opponent know until the last minute what you are "holding."

I think they should buy 30 minutes of network airtime for an infomercial featuring mccain and mostly Sarah Palin and book it at the same time that The Fraud plans to run his.

I just sent in another donation to get the ball rolling.

Not seeing any McCain ads here in SW VA either. During prime time tonight while “House” was on, there were many Hussein ads, and no McCain ads at all.

Really, most of the McCain ads sucked anyway.

Hopefully if or when they begin running ads again, they will have some new ones.

I wish I could be upbeat like others here, but when it comes to politics, I am a pessimist. So, I understand the frustration some Freepers have at some of my posts. I really am trying to find the positives in this campaign, but McCain makes it so damn hard. See, I can't stop :(

I pray that the rest of the country finds a way to elect McCain-Palin (I'm in California - we're a lost cause for the GOP). An Obama presidency will be a nightmare.

One radio station I listen to has had that Obama ad where he is talking about his grandmother-I swear I hear it at least once an hr and McCain ads are practically non-existent. Same on our cable (Time-Warner)lots of Obama and very few McCain. If he wants to win Ohio he better start putting more ads out there!

Th GOP RINOs screwed the party with amnesty. We had the best small (legal) donor base in history in 2000 and 2004. As soon as they started talking about amnesty - people stopped giving including me.

I am giving crazy now to fight Obama but it sucks. I think rich Repubs are giving out of fear. I hope 500,000 give $200 in the next 5 days.

The amnesty crap and not getting tough on the border killed the party and conservatives just ignored Bush. Bush has been a non issue for over year.

What I don’t understand is what has McCain been doing with his money and the RNC etc...

Everyone keeps saying that they have all this money and that they would be on par with Obama etc and yet Obama has organized:

1) a much better ground game
and
2) advertising a great deal more

Where is McCain the GOP on all this? I think they actually want to lose.

“”I pray that the undecided and swings voters aren’t swayed by the preponderance of pro-Obama reporting in the MSM and by the polls.””

AMEN to that! So much is riding on tomorrow night. And, as I’ve said before, my major concern is rampant (ACORN) voter fraud - at least it’s so blatant that it’s getting media attention, press conferences, etc. Geez, just a couple of days ago, AC360 had a segment on my city, KCMO - Jackson County had uncovered 18,000 fraudulent voter registrations (so far) with FBI called in to investigate. This is happening all over the country (the voter fraud, that is - unfortunately, we all know how slow the “investigations” will be - AFTER 11/4, of course).

I agree, in a card game. However, it’s about more than the “opponent”, though I appreciate that. In THIS case, it’s the American people, i.e., millions of voters. THEY need to know as soon as possible, and have needed to know for quite some time now.

Well, for sure, McCain's not about to show all of his cards before the last debate!!!

Hold on - they are coming.

People are anxious, angry and frustrated but the game of politics (and it IS a game) is played out as each side has their chance to make a point.

The last public point is NOT before the last debate so that one's opponent (Obama in this case) is able to stroll into the debate and swat down all of your ad statements (with the help of the MSM, of course.)

Remember, that not only does McCain camp need to be able to play offense and defense at the same time but Obama has his own billions plus all of the FREE MSM cheerleading constantly for him.

Dear ------,

Heading into the final 34 days of the election, the momentum is growing for our campaign to bring change and reform to Washington, D.C.

Over 2 million concerned citizens have made an investment to support my campaign and the RNC Victory 2008 program.  I am grateful to every Republican grassroots activist who has made the commitment to help elect Republicans up and down the ticket on November 4th.  But we must continue to build our Party and ensure we have the resources to win.

Our goal now is to reach 3 million supporters by October 31st.  I am confident we can reach this number if you and every Republican that receives this message make a secure online contribution of $5, $10, $50, $100, $250 or whatever you can afford to support RNC Victory 2008 today.

No offense, but Obama has crapola for a ground game and has run an inept campaign. Really, Obama’s ground game is ACORN. Who is that one working out for him. McCain, as wrongheaded as he is, was kicking Obama’s arse UNTIL (gasp) the great, so called, “Wall Street Crisis” intervened to save Obama. The formula being simple, economy bad, Republican in White House, democrat wins. Face it, Obama didn’t do well in primaries, only in the caucuses where his thugocracy, the aforementioned ACORN, could intimidate and manipulate. If the economy was in half way decent shape or even stablized, Obama would be toast.

McCain’s challenge is not to get a good ground game. His challenge is to formulate a coherent message. . .hmmm like a conservative message. (How about this: stop 50% of the population from free riding by reforming the tax system) He has to stick with a conservative message, stay negative on Obama and start ignoring what his mistress the MSM says about him.

Dr4Grey, hope you are right about the 160 million, I’m tired of listening to the news stories that Obama is running 1360 negative ads to McCain’s 8 in Northern Virginia, I mean at what point does the Obama saturation become propaganda, I don’t even think Obama is a person, he is like a corporation, a brand name.

There is also a theory that I think was in play during the primaries that people get sick of ads and there might have been a backlash against Obama but this is getting crazy, I hope that 160 million story is true.
