Barring an October surprise, the fall election has all but been decided. The next question on Wall Street is whom President Obama will install as Henry Paulson's successor as head of the Treasury Department.
Though no decision has been made, the rumor is that the Obama camp has already reached out to its first choice. The eye-popper is that the potential pick -- Jamie Dimon -- has signaled an interest in the job.

Dimon and the Democrats
It wouldn't be a stretch to suggest Obama would simply be repaying a big campaign supporter. In the political world, Dimon hasn't been playing a neutral role. Over the past decade, he has contributed more than $500,000 to a variety of political causes, according to Federal Election Commission data culled by Opensecrets.org.
Dimon has leaned sharply toward the Democratic Party. He contributed $60,000 to the Democratic National Committee between 1996 and 2000. He's donated to New York politicians and Democrats seeking election outside the Empire State.
Dimon has also given to the senatorial campaigns of Harry Reid, Max Baucus, Harold Ford Jr. and congressional candidates such as Rahm Emanuel.

As I’ve said before, I’m far, far more concerned about his pics for Supreme Court.
...or McCain could win.
The next four years could be rocky...quite rocky indeed.
“Barring an October surprise, the fall election has all but been decided. The next question on Wall Street is whom President Obama will install as Henry Paulson’s successor as head of the Treasury Department.”
That’s whistling past the graveyard!
LOL @ Premise of Article. Check out Zogby for tomorrow as per Drudge. 3.8% difference between Obama & McCain. McCain / Palin rallies in PA.
This thing is not over by a long-shot. The Media hope that if they wish hard enough and close their eyes and ears, Obama will magically become President. Perhaps they’ve seen one too many Di$ney movies.
I looked at the person on the far right in that cartoon and thought it was Helen Thomas until I read the card.
Makes me sick thinking of him picking out his cabinent.
I thought for certain it woulde be Tony Rezko.
Can’t see why Dimon would give up JPMC to go be treasury secretary. The government is handing him sweetheart deal after sweetheart deal which has made the company one of the most powerful in the world and increased its assets by hundreds of billions of dollars. After them helping him get all of bear stearns assets for $10 a share and being given Wamu’s entire bank for basically nothing in one of the most one-sided deals in financial history, JPMC is easily going to be as big as bank of america when all this mess clears up, probably bigger. Now they can cherry pick exactly what assets they want to keep from two of their biggest competitors that were handed to them. You’re talking about 10s of thousands of job losses of the Bear and Wamu employees who can be slash and burned without any of the retention restrictions as would be built in to a typical bank merger.
Why would Dimon leave this deal? He lives for this kind of conquest. He’s going to be one of the most powerful men in the world.
The media has already called the election for Obama over a year ago. Nothing has changed since then and now.
Barring an October surprise, the fall election has all but been decided.”

I hope they actually believe that. I think zero is feeling pretty cocky right now as he’s drank too much of the poolster’s kool-aid. given the Ras poll today and it’s internals I think MP may be tied or even slightly ahead nationally. Given the expectations on the left there’s gonna be a lot of angry 0 supporters come 11/5.
Why would Matt Damon even want that job?
If the election is over, I'm not quite sure why Obama is still spending tens of millions on advertising and flying from state to state when those states are in the bag for "the One."
I heard a rumor the other day that the American people may be allowed to throw in their two-cent opinion sometime around November 4th.
