The Trouble With Harry: Sen. Reid cries 'bankruptcy' in a panic. [LibDems help crash the Dow]

The SEC has been issuing subpoenas for an investigation into rumor-driven market manipulation. Of course, Harry Reid stood up in broad daylight to talk about a troubled insurer "with a name that everyone knows," so his contribution was merely obtuse. And predictably destructive. The steep drop in the share prices of insurance companies Thursday destroyed wealth for uncounted middle-class investors holding onto stock in companies still considered healthy.

...It calls to mind Senator Chuck Schumer's public suggestion in July that troubled IndyMac Bank "could face collapse." (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121607771017452513.html) It did, after a deposit run. Senator Schumer said criticizing his action was akin to blaming "the fire on the guy who called 911." The nation's shareholders would sleep better at night if some Members of Congress enrolled in Arsonists Anonymous.

Was Harry Reid merely incompetent, or did he do this deliberately to crash the stock market to get desperate Americans to vote for "change" in November? Why did Chuckie Schumer also do the equivalent of shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater?

Elections have consequences. If we controlled Congress, we would own the ethics committee and bring these folks up on investigation, instead, it will be overlooked. How is that ‘teaching Republicans a lesson’ working again?

I own 300 shares of Prudential Financial. When Reid made that comment it was worth 72 a share the day before Harry blabbed. Day before yesterday it was 33. Thanks Harry

Yes to both. He tried scuttling the war in Iraq by comeing out and declaring "the war is lost", ala Walter Cronkite.

Harry Reid is a CRIMINAL. He should be tried and sentenced before the election.

I think we should check to see if he has some undisclosed investment in a hedge fund that was shorting insurance companies....

If somebody was willing to set up a group to swift-boat him, I’d kick in some cash.
