The $4 Billion Senator [How the Democrat Left helped cause the stock market crash]
Wall Street Journal ^ | JULY 15, 2008 | Wall Street Journal

The federal takeover of IndyMac Bank over the weekend could cost the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. between $4 billion and $8 billion. But Senator Chuck Schumer, who helped to precipitate the collapse by publicizing a letter to the bank's regulator last month, has no remorse.

He was, he says, just doing his job in telling regulators that the bank "could face a collapse," a prophecy that quickly proved to be self-fulfilling. "It's what legislators are supposed to do," the New York Democrat told the Journal. Depositors who spent Monday trying to recover some of their money might beg to differ.

Why did Chuckie do the equivalent of shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater?

Legislators are not supposed to say such things publicly, when they have private information.

He did it just to help create chaos for Bush.

Liberals are freaking selfish.

No, he did the equivalent of playing with matches and a gas can in the hills around Los Angeles in the Fall with dry Santa Ana winds blowing and then berating firefighters for not showing up faster.

If I were a stock holder of IndyMac I would be seriously considering a lawsuit against Chucky.

The Republicans should splice together a commercial against the backdrop of Robert Palmer's (he's dead now, so hopefully he won't object) song 'Simply Irresistible', but with the words changed to 'Simply Irresponsible' - spliced against a montage of Schumer's comments, followed by the headlines of IndyMac going bankrupt; and then Harry Reid's comments that the an Insurance company was going bankrupt - followed by a clip of the headlines of the Insurance industry stocks cratering; and then finally a clip of Barney Frank's (or even Obama's) comments that the mean republicans were trying to crack down on Fannie Mae's and Freddie Mac's easy loans -- followed by the headlines of the financial implosion last month ...

Simply Irresponsible - one of the Democrat by-words.

I think he can refuse to testify at the SEC hearings only as long as Congress is in session. They go on break son, I believe.

If I'm remembering things correctly, when Chuckie blew the whistle on this bank it was pointed our by Freepers that this bank was one of the only banks and/or investment houses that didn't contribute to the Democratic Senatorial Committee. I just wonder how often this kind of thing happened as a shake down by the Dems.

These Democrats are dangerous to our economy.

Bush tried to tell us during the last election cycle that things could get very tough if we let Pelosi and Reed in as majority leaders. He was right.

Why did Chuckie do the equivalent of shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater?

For the same reason that William Jefferson Blythe Clinton
ended up getting a bl-w-job from a female subordinate in The Oval Office
of "The People's House".
(and G-d-Only-Knows how many other adulterous incidents)

BECAUSE HE COULD
