ABC News' Kate Snow and Imtiyaz Delawala Report: Hank Williams Jr. sure knows how to get a crowd goin'. On a small stage in the middle of a sea of red t-shirts at the Richmond International Raceway this afternoon, Williams stood a few feet from Governor Sarah Palin to sing the Star Spangled Banner. But it was his next song that was a surefire hit in this conservative crowd.

The left wing liberal media has always been a close knit family But most of the American people don't believe it anyway you see Stop and think it over Before you make your decision If they smell something wrong, they're gonna come down strong And say McCain-Palin tradition This old union's got problems That is plain to see The democrats bankrupted Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Just like 1-2-3 The bankers didnt want to make all those bad loans But Bill Clinton said "you got to!" Now they want to bail out what I'm talking about Is a democrat liberal hoodoo! To me and you John and Sarah tell you just what they think And they're not gonna blink And they don't have terrorist friends to whom their careers are linked Yeah John is his own man And Sarah fixed Alaska's broken condition They're gonna do just fine We're headed for good times You know McCain-Palin Tradition I am very proud Of our country's name But no society is perfect And we have had our stains If I'm down at the coffee shop Someone wants to give our flag friction We say please move on, we're standing strong That's an Old John McCain tradition John and Sarah tell you just what they think And they're not gonna blink They're gonna fix this country, cuz they're just like good ol' Hank Yeah John is his own man And Sarah fixed Alaska's bad condition They're gonna get it right, we're gonna see the light, an old McCain-Palin tradition Some are bound to tell you I'm preaching to the choir And that is very true, and we are going higher Like a Mama bear in Idaho She'll protect your family's condition If you mess with her cubs, she's gonna take off the gloves, that's an American female tradition John and Sarah tell you just what they think And they're not gonna blink They're gonna fix this country Cuz they're just like good ol' Hank Yes John is his own man Sarah fixed Alaska's bad tradition They're gonna see the light We're gonna be just fine Oh! McCain-Palin tradition
Kinda ‘Hokey’, if y’all get my jist...
You say "Hokie" like itsuhbadthing...
Hey! I’m in that picture!
I am a Hank Williams Jr. Fan from long ago. Way to go HANK!!
bookmark
Any YouTube on this yet?
Cool!
I love Hank Jr. His Dad’s talent passed onto him as well. I love how he reworked the lyrics and said everything that needed to be said. That song is a great asset!
Too many cliches [or ‘Talking Points’] forced into about three minutes of music.
I don’t have the link, but the audio was up there yesterday just after the rally. I’m sure there’s video up now.
Very much so. I wish I’d planned better. Actually, I planned pretty well and got sandbagged when they told us “no backpacks.” We were already almost through security when they changed their minds.
Our snax, water and the 8 year olds Nintendo were in the car...for three very long hours waiting for the event to start.
Hey! Where you at in that picture? I wanna see. ;-)
Hey there! Look at the right side of the “Victory” sign over the bleachers. I’m the red blob down about two rows...
Jr. isn’t in that picture but would be about 3 ft to the right. He got autographs from Governor Palin and Hank Williams, Jr.
:-)
OUTSTANDING!!!
It’s good to see you again, even if it’s the “red blob” in the photo. :-)
Glad to hear that Jr. is into getting autographs from folks I like. It’s good to know that guys that young can still like really cool people.
I read the post about your sunburn and loss of snacks and nintendo etc. Other than that did ya’ll have an awesome time? It sounds like a lot of fun to me.
It was great. Luke really was a trooper about it. And we had great seats.
Remind me to never go to those sites because it ruins my day.
I will pray for those who really spew the hate for this country! (The ‘progressive’ idea of hate is anything that disagrees with their views)
Good for Luke. Especially without his Nintendo. I’m thinking he did better than all but one of my grandkids coulda done. (Only one of ‘em has any patience)
So, how far are ya from RIR?
It’s just on the other side of the city from us. Took us about 25 minutes to get there. It’s also the former site of the State Fair. They’re moving to a new location next year.
Ever been to a race there?
and ya know, I don’t mean the McCain/Palin race for the presidency. /sarc
Yes, but it was a Steeplechase. ;-)
I’ve never been to a NASCAR race. Friends and family have. They used to run the “Strawberry Hill Races” (Steeplechase) there. But that’s moved out to Colonial Downs east of the city.
... and the other reason I was reading the thread is because work is vey boring today.
Slide show link lifted from another thread

Hey thanks for that link. That was awesome too. I’m going to pass that on to my kids, they’ll like it too.
(this turned out to be a good thread to take my mind off the boring work)
I hope everyone got a chance to hear Lee Greenwood at a Palin rally today.
Brought tears to my eyes.
It was like WOW!
You must stink.
Thank you for your thoughtful and insightful comment.
I took your remark as saying Hank was hokey. I am sorry if I mistook your comment.
Lee Greenwood was super at the Palin rally in Scranton today!
Did you see it?

Sorry I forgot how to encode it as a link.
I just heard it on Sean Hannity’s radio pgm and —it’s fantastic!!!!!!!!!
You are beautiful Hank!!!!
Me too!! When I was about 16 I went to one of his shows and my friend and I actually got to meet him backstage after the concert (her mom was working at the venue) and- Oh what a great time, he was very nice to us and to everyone there. Of course we were both in love with him after that.
