Why won't the McCain campaign attack Obama for an association more damaging than Bill Ayersthe one with Chicago pastor Jeremiah Wright? Unlike Ayers, the Rev. Wright indisputably was one of Obama's closest friends. Obama himself has said so. Nobody in America needs to be reminded of who Wright is. As long as you've decided to go after Obama's character and associations, Wright seems like the obvious place to start. The 30-second attack ad essentially writes itself.
So Jeremiah Wright probably won't figure directly in this campaign. But at some point, it would be nice to hear Obama explain his relationship with Wright.
This is the single biggest question I have for the McCain campaign, which has otherwise been pretty good considering how extremely difficult the current political environment would be for any Republican candidate this year.
Should have been done months ago....
Because the ONE distanced himself from Wright... doncha know????
(sarcasm of course)
This isn't gonna fly because Obama AND the media will say "Oh, we've been OVER that already!"
i miss the commercials, “ NO NO NO NO not god bless america, god damn america!
Who is Tucker Carlson? And why won’t anybody listen to him? Is he really Colmes in a Conservative suit?
...Does Mr. Bow Tie actually believe bringing up Wright is going to score any additional points, and not be implied as impugning Black clerics across America? If so, he's much dumber than I thought.
This is a very good point, along with a SUMMARY of Obama’s associates and connections. One good sentence listing ALL of Obama’s badboybuds could really provide McCain with a soundbite. And if it were in the form of a direct question to Obama by McCain at the debate, ooooh, boy.
IMO, the revulsion for Rev. Wright stands on its own, and dwelling on it only risks offending religious blacks.
OTOH, attacking Ayers is a true “for or against America” stand, and that’s why McCain is doing (only) this.
Whether one or the other or both is/are effective is a toss up. 0bama supporters seem capable of overlooking any alliance, association, criminal acts or incompetence on his part. I don’t understand it better than anyone else, it just seems like rabid, blind Bush hatred.
bringing back Rev Wright will reinforce and strengthen the Bradley Effect
better to do it in that last week of the campaign, it has far more impact and allows less time for rebuttal. But really there is NO excuse for Wright. Obama has been listening to him and Ayers for decades. Sorry but that leaves a big brown skidmark that smells bad.
The best way is to make the point that bho spent 20 yrs listening to him and doesn’t remember anything. If thats the case then why should we expect that he remembers anything being said now....portray him as absent minded and aloof.
in my opinion, even though the economy turmoil definately hurt Mccain, to me, the race began to turn after Mccain ran the ad about Obammy supporting sex education for kindergartners. Even though the ad was true, the media absolutely tore into Mccain and after that, you can tell an order was given to not run anymore attack ads. Mccain was leading in the polls at the time....the media attack on his honor seemed to rattle him and seems hes been off balance since. However, i still think when it comes to actually voting on Nov 4th, Mccain will win. Btw, im only voting because Sarah Palin is astonishing...amazing woman!!.
YES, BY ALL MEANS—BRING BACK THAT STRUTTING, WILDLY GESTICULATING, BILE-SPEWING FARRAKHAN LEGHORN!!!
FARRAKHAN LEGHORN, I SAY!!! 24/7!!!
I suspect he’ll make a “last minute” too-late-to-”correct”-it appearance via some 527 or other.
you are right. A lot of things happened that week. The kindergarten ad, the lipstick on a pig ad (stupid), and the Gibson interview.
The next week, McCain was suspending his campaign and trying to bluff Obama out of the debate. Obama called the bluff.
BOTTOM LINE: If McCain doesn’t bring up Wright, he does NOT deserve to be POTUS.
It is a legitimate issue.
I would have expected truly religious blacks to be *already* offended.
“IMO, the revulsion for Rev. Wright stands on its own, and dwelling on it only risks offending religious blacks.”
How many of these “religious blacks” are going to vote republican anyway... That is just sooo stupid.
is it just me??....its a no brainer...an ad stringing together anti-american Ayres...his anti-american preacher...his stating he”d sit down with “death to america iran”...if thats not a pattern of anti-american terrorist appeasement, i dont know what is. Theres so much to work with, its unreal.
Obama has the “Wright Stuff”..
McCain needs to stop reaching over the aisle. He, instead, needs to run over them with a tank.

Someone should put it to a hip hop beat, and splice it as such. It would be hilarious.
If Mccain and Palin do not go nuclear on Obama and his media wing and just basically say fkuc it then they will lose unless GOP turnout is 85% or so.
it’s all that’s left and he better do it in the debate for starters..
I wondered the same?????
Where the Eff are our 527’s?
I think we saw a lot of that when Hillary was battling him. Ferraro was called racist...
Hillary kept punching him... unfortunately for her... he already stole the votes!
McCain had his chance back in April when the North Carolina Republican Party ran a gubernatorial campaign ad that included the linking of Obama with Jeremiah Wright. The ad was duly denounced by The New York Times and other deep thinkers as racist.
This was patently absurd. Racism is treating people differently and invidiously on the basis of race. Had any white presidential candidate had a close 20-year association with a white preacher overtly spreading race hatred from the pulpit, that candidate would have been not just universally denounced and deemed unfit for office but written out of polite society entirely.
Nonetheless, John McCain in his infinite wisdom, and with his overflowing sense of personal rectitude, joined the braying mob in denouncing that perfectly legitimate ad, saying it had no place in any campaign. In doing so, McCain unilaterally disarmed himself, rendering off-limits Obama's associations, an issue that even Hillary Clinton addressed more than once.
Are you suggesting Rev Wright might encourage pollies to lie to pollsters?
Exactly. And he MUST do direct questions.
Also, Obama has provided written material (maybe only Ayers remembers Obama writing it ;-) that shows he knew Wright's radical views.
BINGO!!!!!
To BY-PASS the MSM , McCAIN MUST speak LOUD and CLEAR straight on te targets during the last debate.
Don’t make ,with this last debate, another boring talk show
If I understand this correctly, it’s because McCain doesn’t feel it’s proper to attack someone’s religious beliefs or something like that.
My hope is that some smart 527’s will pick it up on their own and remind the KKK of America what the not-so-good reverend thinks about us all.
Unfortunately, you are correct. The fact that he denounced the NC Republicans for running that ad has effectively taken the issue off of the table. If he brings it up now he will be hammered in the MSM with his quotes from back in April. It was a dumb move.
I think Wright is a legitimate issue. That being said, this won’t get far unless someone can produce a video of Obama in the Church during one of Wright’s vile rants.
I’m sure he was there, but we’ll see.
...it would be nice to hear Obama explain his relationship with Wright.
"Oh, he's just some guy in my church!"
I agree. I fully expect to see Revrum Wright, Farrahkhan(sp?(who cares)), JJackson and many other Black extremists featured in commersials aired around Nov 1. Followed by spots that show ACORN offices and the thousands of fraudulent voter registrations.
It could come to pass that we will not have a new president until this time next year.
Saving it for the last two weeks?
Any earlier, and the shock would wear off?
He is already being attacked as a rascist. As the old saying goes, might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb.
Can't believe that I am in agreement with Carlson AND Buchanan today.
The left agrees with everything said by Rev. Wright.
bring back “windfall profits” “no nuclear” “no drilling” and “socialized medicine” as potentially disastrous. If the economy is the overriding issue, then point out that BO’s policies would be awful for the economy.
Bring back Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. Link BO with these two political toxins early and often.
