Western Journalists in Iraq Stage Pullback of Their Own
Washington Post ^ | October 11, 2008 | Ernesto Londoņo and Amit R. Paley

The number of foreign journalists in Baghdad is declining sharply, a media withdrawal that reflects Iraq's growing stability and the financial strains faced by some news organizations.

In a stark indication of the changing media focus here, the number of journalists traveling with American forces in Iraq has plummeted in the past year. U.S. military officials say they "embedded" journalists 219 times in September 2007. Last month, the number shrank to 39.

Of the dozen U.S. newspapers and newspaper chains that maintained full-time bureaus in Baghdad in the early years of the war, only four are still permanently staffed by foreign correspondents.

CBS and NBC no longer keep a correspondent in Baghdad year-round.

Gen. David G. Perkins, the top U.S. military spokesman in Iraq, said stories about violence get top billing. Less-sensational events, such as a recent voter-registration drive for the highly anticipated provincial elections expected early next year, go largely uncovered in the Western news media...

American newspapers, which have contracted sharply in recent years as readership and advertising revenue have declined...

The number of front-page stories with Iraq datelines published by the New York Times, The Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times, which continue to maintain large Baghdad bureaus, has dropped each year since the war began. The three dailies published 858 front-page stories with Iraq datelines in 2003, 379 last year and just 138 during the first nine months of 2008.

"I don't know what's going on in America this year," said Mahmoud Othman, a Kurdish lawmaker who said he receives far fewer interview requests from Western journalists. "Maybe it's because of the election. I think they are less interested."

The number of foreign journalists in Baghdad is declining sharply, because there are no bombings they can report about. Their doom and gloom gig is up. The retreat of the journalists is just a significant as the retreat of the terrorists.

I remember during the Reagan administration when the people voted overwhelmingly for the US backed government, the media suddenly quit covering El Salvador. I mean just about totally quit overnight.

It was then that all doubt left me that the media is in fact mainly Communist. I was really pretty sure anyway but that removed all doubt.

With my Texas A&M Aggie power of perception (ha!)... the facts of this story tells me the main stream media and all America hating journos have run out of ways to spin good news into bad.

U.S. military - 1

journalists - 0

Game over... the good guys have won/are winning.

That is something they are not intersted in reporting.
So home they come to help fellow troop betrayer Obama.

This makes it clear that they were there to report on what made America look bad because there was always good that they didn’t report.

Now that the vast majority of what’s taking place is good, the enemedia pulls out.

Thanks for the ping.

Good news for the U.S. is bad news for the MSM.

When TERRORISTS are defeated then their natural allies and ideological soulmates, the Mainstream Media types, become discouraged and decide that there are no more stories worth reporting. If the MSM can’t help the terrorists anymore in Iraq then it is time to re-deploy their propaganda resources elsewhere where they can actually aid the cause of the “unholy alliance” between the secular left and worldwide jihad.
