House Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) on Sunday indicated that he is open to working on a second stimulus package as long as it makes sense.
But lets not use the stimulus package as an excuse to do what Democrats have wanted to do from day one of this Congress, which is a huge public works plan, Blunt said on ABCs This Week with George Stephanopoulos.
House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said Democrat would do a second stimulus that will give the middle class and the average citizen the same kind of relief that we try to give to the financial sector.
The two lawmakers appeared on the show with House to discuss the economic situation and traded shots over who is responsible for the current crisis.
The Congress didnt do what it needed to do, Blunt said. I think the many members of the Congress that were on the wrong side of this just need to admit that they were on the wrong side of this and move on.
He pointed to several Republicans and Democrats who have all said that both sides share blame.
However, Frank pointed the finger at the GOP.
I want to stress, the Republicans controlled Congress for 12 years and never moved the bill on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. We moved it in five months, he said. So, yes, a lot of people misunderstood the impact that bad subprime loans would have, but I couldn't do anything when I was in the minority. I wish I could have stopped them from doing a lot of things.
The Republican party is truely gone.

saw that one coming a mile away
VOTE THE BASTARDS OUT! NO SECOND STIMULIUS PACKAGE! WE CAN NOT AFFORD IT AND WE DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY!
Blunt—beyond stupid.
Why not just keep printing money until everything is rosy again?
Blunt got played, with Boehner, by Pelosi/Reid numerous times during the bailout fiasco. They have already proved to be easy targets.
Why not do something radical, like, oh I don’t know, maybe like tell Pelosi to get lost and pass a stimulus package by herself instead? By all means, let’s set up the football again, Charlie Brown.
You would think that with three weeks left, the GOP would at least be able to hang the present financial debacle around the necks of the Democrats.
But even that, from the Presidential candidate on down, seems an impossibility.
I’m gonna vote for the stupid party one more time on November 4th, to give Sarah a shot at the future and at DC.
But I think the GOP is beyond hope.
Barring a miracle from God, and it will take one on November 4th, the GOP seems incapable or unwilling to save their own country from a Marxist takeover staring them straight in the face.

And Blunt did not call Frank on this lie. It’s too bad we don’t have a real conservative party in this country. And I’m afraid once Obama gets in the constitution be damned and there will be no one allowed to disagree. Then it’ll be too late to start a real conservative party. We may end up having to have an government in exile.
Why certainly, Roy. Go right ahead. Personally I could use about $50,000, so why don’t y’all just jack it to the max since it’s only paper anyway. Have they all gone the route of least resistance or just given-up altogether?
If the objective was really to reliquify banks, help the consumer out of debt h3!!, and jump-start the economy they could let us mere mortals do it with our own money.
All they need to do is grant everyone access for a specified period to their 401(k) money at the LT cap gains rate if it is used to pay off debt and the taxes incurred due to the withdrawal. Any other purpose would fall under the rules currently in place.
This would:
‘middle class and the average citizen’ definition, please!
They all know we despise them. They FEEL bad after robbing the taxpayers and destroying their 401K’s. Now they are going to print up some chicken pickens to make up.
We need to gift them with a dip in tar and a roll in feathers.
I guess such "nuances" are "above my pay grade" < grin >. But for purposes of this, my target audience would be "401(k) and IRA" holders. Other than that, my proposal would not care about their situation.
I did not name IRA holders in the original post but would extend the same logic to them.
In exile my ass. The liberal "takers" would be too damn lazy to protect their socialist/Marxist government. The "makers" and true patriots would find a way to address the government aberration. Take my word for it.
A tax rebate to taxpayers is fine. But a better solution would be to simply lower the tax rate on individual income taxes.
Best laugh of the day! Thanks!
I only wish that we had 218 reps and 51 senators who thought that way!
