LAS VEGAS—A newspaper poll measuring the presidential race says Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain are about even in Nevada, with Obama up two percentage points over his Republican rival.

The numbers released Sunday by the Las Vegas Review-Journal show that 47 percent of likely voters say they would vote for Obama, while 45 percent say they will vote for McCain. The difference between the candidates is within the poll's margin of error of 4 percentage points.

I figured as much. Thanks for the post. While things change it is amazing how much when election day nears how they remain the same.

Good news IMO..

This was a battleground state before Obama’s “surge”.. Good to see it’s right where it was.

This race is alot tighter than the bogus national polls indicate.

I have to wonder what the numbers would look like if:

A)ACORN wasn’t there and

B)If McCain actually acted like he wanted to win.

The Kalifornication of the southern part of the state is to blame. It would be interesting to see how many of the voters in Vegas aren’t even citizens. There are so many illegals in Nevada now that I saw bumperstickers for the the Mexican election on cars in Reno.

"If McCain actually acted like he wanted to win."

Yes, its Dole, and Thompson redux.

Was the poll done with a proper party affiliation weighting ... or was it done assuming a MUCH higher Democrat voter registration thanks to ACORN? In other words ... are these results padded in the Dems favor due to fraud?

Live by the poll, die by the poll.

McCain has been outspent 3 to 1 here...

Has had nothing but horrific news in terms of the economy...

Relentless 24/7 MSM campaign against him and Palin...

Yet, NV remains a statistical dead heat...

Yes, I definitely see a poll like his as “glass half full” rather than half empty.

Yep, and they are not even trying up North. Obama has had an office open here for months. The Republicans just opened one a couple of weeks ago. I asked them what was up and they told me they felt this county was “safe”.

They are wrong, we have lots of new people coming in. It was Elko County that carried Nevada last election. Bambi’s people know it and that’s why they are hitting us hard.

Sigh, even still I will be knocking on doors next week.

That was the result at the poll? What was the weighting used now? based upon the nominal approach used by most polling agencies this time around it should have been weighted in the Dems favor by at least 6 percentage points.

Once again, the fact that McCain is almost never there tells you that this poll is way oversampling Dems, and that McCain’s internals say this is pretty safe. That’s how I read it.
