Dems Plan on Obama Win - Pelosi May Call Congress Back (Oh Really???)
My Way ^

Posted on 10/11/2008 1:13:30 PM PDT by DocT111

WASHINGTON (AP) - After consulting with Barack Obama, Democratic leaders are likely to call Congress back to work after the election in hopes of passing legislation that would include extended jobless benefits, money for food stamps and possibly a tax rebate, officials said Saturday.

The bill's total cost could reach $150 billion, these officials said.

The officials stressed that no final decisions have been made. They spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they did not want to pre-empt a formal announcement. House Democrats have announced plans for an economic forum on Monday "to help Congress develop an economic recovery plan that focuses on creating jobs and strengthening our economy."

Democrats said Obama's campaign has been involved in discussions on a possible stimulus package. The party's presidential candidate, running ahead in the polls, has outlined his own proposals for stimulating the economy.

Democrats are increasingly confident of capturing the White House and increasing their majorities in the House and Senate on Nov. 4.

If they are successful, a lame-duck session of Congress two weeks later would allow them to start work on a response to the credit crunch that has sent stock prices plummeting and also threatens to trigger a deep recession. It often takes two or three months for a new Congress to begin turning out legislation, particularly when a new president is settling into the White House.

On the other hand, by attempting to pass legislation next month, Democrats would have to negotiate with President Bush, whose term runs until Jan. 20, 2009. Additionally, Senate Republicans, with 49 seats, could block any measure they opposed.

Isn't that sweet of the Democrats to reward their voters with our money!

My take on this is that Pelosi thinks that Obama will LOSE. Otherwise, she would just wait until January to do this when Obama could sign the legislation AND take the credit.

She may think that she has a better chance convincing Bush to sign it than McCain.

Pelosi’s first order of business, IMO:

1. Remove Freedom of Speech especially targeting conservative talk radio, blogs on the Internet, and specifically anyone that speaks out against their instituting a dictatorship
2. Attempt to remove all guns from the American people
3. Take away as much freedom as they can before the American people resist

Freepers are welcome to add to the list.

Here's my reading about what Nancy, Harry, and their DNC henchmen in Congress are saying strait up - now that Barry's elected we can stop punishing the American Economy and People as soon as possible.

They'll be in “anything to help the economy” mode.

McCain should tell the voting public that this is why they are planning to “help” now, they would rather see their Leader win an election than they would rather see the country find its way out of a dire situation.

Hubris is the defining word for Obama’s campaign, from its phony Presidential Seal on down.

I posted last night that I had read something on FR about somebody in Obama’s campaign suggesting that he be allowed to start right after Election Day and be a sort of co-president with Bush. It may even be Pelosi who suggested it. But I can’t find any reference to it and now I’m wondering if I imagined the whole thing. Does this ring a bell with anybody?

.
COULD THE MSM BE LISTENING?
(something to cheer you)

Glenn Beck: CNN report on Ayers

GLENN: I want to play a piece from CNN. This is not Fox. This is CNN. This isn’t CNN Headline News. This is CNN. Believe me, I know how difficult it is to get something on the air at CNN. To get something on the air at CNN that is critical of Barack Obama, not really the easiest thing. There are not people clamoring to get that on the air. They check everything six ways to Sunday. Believe me, I know. I have to play this report from Anderson Cooper. Remember, this is not some right wing kook. This is not Fox. This is Anderson Cooper on CNN. Listen to this report on the “No connections between William Ayers and Barack Obama.”

COOPER: Bill Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn in the 1960s and Seventies were radicals, members of the Weather Underground, an anti-Vietnam War group that bombed federal buildings including the U.S. capitol and the Pentagon. On the run for years, the case against them was thrown out due to illegal wire taps and prosecutor misconduct. Ayers has never repented and has said as late as 2001 he wished he had done more to stop the war. Barack Obama confirmed during a primary debate that he knew Ayers and, when pressed, said they served on a charitable foundation board together.

GLENN: Listen to this.
COOPER: Obama condemned Ayers support of violence. But the relationship between Obama and Ayers went much deeper, ran much longer and was much more political than Obama said.

GLENN: Stop, stop. Just stop there. But it gets worse, again. How many times have you heard people say, “Oh, it’s the Clinton News Network, it’s the Communist News Network.” Yeah, sure. Again, the report from CNN on the connection between Ayers and Obama.

VOICE: Arguing is that somehow the fact that these people who served both educational reformers in Chicago, both of whom did have their paths cross professionally as well as neighbors occasionally, that somehow this association is a problem for Barack Obama because of Bill Ayers’ past and things that happened in the 1960s when Barack Obama was 7 years old. And that’s just wrong. And frankly it’s quite unfair.

COOPER: One place their paths repeatedly crossed according to a CNN review of board minutes and other records was Chicago’s Annenberg Challenge project where a $50 million grant from the Annenberg Foundation matched locally funds to schools. According to participants and project records, Bill Ayers fought to bring the Annenberg grant to Chicago. Barack Obama was recruited as its chair. For seven years Bill Ayers and Obama, among many others, worked on funding for education projects including some experiments supported by Ayers.

GLENN: Listen to this.
COOPER: Stanley Kurtz, a conservative researcher for the Ethics and Public Policy Center who has been reviewing the recently —
GLENN: This is the guy that Obama has tried to silence, now on CNN.

KURTZ: Instead of giving money directly to schools, they gave money to what they called external partners and these partners were often radical community organizer groups.
COOPER: And the board gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to Bill Ayers’ small schools project, promoting alternative education, the peace school with a curriculum centered around a United Nations theme.

GLENN: Oh.
COOPER: And another school where the focus was African-American studies.
GLENN: Oh.
VOICE: And this was directly funded by Annenberg?
KURTZ: Oh, yes, under Obama’s chairmanship. Oh, yes, in a specific draw of the board of —

GLENN: Stop. This doesn’t bother anyone? This, I know this bothers you. This doesn’t? How do you dismiss? He was a chairman of the board that did experimental schools with a guy who says you shouldn’t discipline children, that quote: Children should rise up and kill their parents. Okay? He’s never corrected that. Never stood down from that. He’s on the board with that man doing experimental schools, and one of them is a school based on the United Nations? And somehow or another we’re just supposed to dismiss all of this.

That, “It doesn’t really matter, oh, he’s not like that, oh, he didn’t know.” This guy is a full-fledged fascist in the wings. Now, that’s not to say that he’s going to become a fascist.
This is the closest that we have ever come to having one. No, I take that back. We actually had one. His name was Woodrow Wilson. This guy actually put hundreds of thousands of people in jail for speaking out against him, the government or World War I.
This guy developed a system through the Department of Justice where if you heard anyone speak out against the war, you heard anyone speak out against our country, you were to call the Department of Justice, your name would be withheld and the person you heard speaking out would go to prison!

So WE’VE HAD A FASCIST. So if anybody tells you we can’t have one again, don’t listen to them. We’ve had one before, AND THIS ONE’S COMING WITH A NEON SIGN. THIS ONE’S COMING WITH HIS OWN LITTLE MILITANT CHILDREN FOLLOWING BEHIND HIM. THIS ONE’S COMING WITH THE HITLER YOUTH IN TOW.

How many times did we say in 1992, “Guys, I think this guy has a sex problem.” No, no, no. Now, I was willing to dismiss it after he was on 60 Minutes and say, you know what, we all have problems. I get it, we all have problems. He admitted it, we have problems, we’ve worked on it in our relationship, we don’t have a perfect relationship; we’re working on it. Great. But then woman after woman after woman, and everybody started to deny. Everybody was like, no, come on, they’re just making that up; they’re just doing that. Well, we ended up having a problem on the bathroom floor of the White House. WHO’S GOING TO BE ON THE BATHROOM FLOOR IN THE NEXT ADMINISTRATION? KARL MARX? Although he would look pretty hot in a tight blue cocktail dress.”

FReep THE MSM!

I may get laughed at for saying this, but I truly believe that the American people will choose two Americans (McCain/Palin) over an America hating Marxist Communist! But if we do win, we have only 4 years to break up the Federal Department of Education and get school vouchers and school choice in place. The indoctrination rate of our youth is at a frightening pace and we cannot hold down the fort much longer.

It just seems like the Chicago thugs covered all the bases in the swing states, voter fraud is rampant and there's not a thing we can do about it. he's topping it off with a multi million dollar brainwash ad on election eve. My feeling about it is that it is another give away, another enticing bribe, to get saps to vote for Obama thinking they’re going to get something for nothing. My very own union-member son (mid thirties, I thought he was smart, until now) said that Obama is going to “give me things.”

And an aquaintance who is a professor in a small collge here said that he went up to various students who were wearing Obama buttons one day and asked them why they were voting for Obama: they ALL said that it was because Obama was going to “give them $4000 for college.” I have no idea where they got this figure, but it seems to be out there in the idiot student world.

I regard this as another bribe. Look at all the goodies Pelosi is offering.

Imagine how much money Obama would pour into New Orleans, a city populated mostly by blacks.

IMHO they should not have built a city under sea level and then constantly try to pump the water back, but when it also is hit by hurricanes every summer and definitely will see the occasional cat 4/5 then I think it’s madness.

Why should we pour good money down the drain? Votes?

Is there any issue your wife’s friends fundamentally disagree with Obama? Abortion, Foreign Policy, Taxes? If they agree with him on every issue, waste no time on them. If there is a hot button issue, pound on it. When the Economy comes up, pound on Obama and Democrat statist policies on mortgages being the root cause. Ask them how a Chicago political hack is fresh change compared to Sarah Palin.

I think it was a scenario posted by another FReeper who was using the example of what happened in Kenya. The election is called off due to voter fraud and there are such violent riots that W puts Barry on as co-President. Was that it?

A good energy plan will get done in the next four years. That will probably be about all. It’s the four years after that when things may get interesting.

I may get laughed at for saying this, but I truly believe that the American people will choose two Americans (McCain/Palin) over an America hating Marxist Communist!

I'm not laughing...I think Mac & Sarah will win, too.

The Dems are already measuring the drapes. There are 24 days left and that is an eternity in politics. There are several events that could still change this election.

1) We could capture Bin Laden (This is the only one I want to happen)
2) A terrorist attack
3) Assassination attempt on a some world leader
4) A major weather event- earthquake, hurricane
5) A nuclear bomb detination
6) If Russia invaded Usbekistan
7) Israel bombs Iran
8) The Rapture

I am not wishing for any of these but the first one, but life happens. Look how suddenly this economic crisis hit us.

Oh the hypocrisy from the Libs in the Deranged DNC.

In the 2000 election all we heard was “we can't allow the disenfranchisement of the vote of the American People...”

And today we find them working thru their support of ACORN to disenfranchise the vote of the entire country.

All the while saying “that ACORN stuff isn't important - its the economy”.
