A sign of the political times in the Ozarks has many questioning the message ... And the source.

This billboard is on US 63 in the Howell County Community of West Plains. No one has claimed responsibility for putting up the sign, but Howell County democrats are upset at the image of Barack Obama in a turban.

Obama has fought internet rumors that he's Muslim. He grew up in a Christian family.

That sign reminds me of traveling down highway 99 through the San Joaquin Valley during the Clinton years. The farmers had put up all manner of anti-Clinton billboards, they slammed him good. I expect much more if bambi is erected....hell I expect civil war if bambi is erected.

Were they upset every time a political cartoon made a Republican appear to be Hitler or a member of the KKK? Obama is not untouchable. It is not slander (or libel, I always forget which) to make fun of public figures.

If you want to be president, get used to it.

I think I read somewhere the grandparents attended a Universalist Unitarian congregation. I believe that organization pretty much accepts any belief.

The only thing wrong with the sign is that they put “Hussein” in quotes, which somehow implies that it isn’t his legal middle name. It is.

Yes, you are. Libs (and John McCain, but I guess he is a lib anyway) complain about calling him “Hussein” when it’s part of his legal name. They’d attack misuse of the real picture by saying, “it was taken out of context,” which would technically be true if he is, in fact, not an actual Muslim.

Personally, I don’t think he’s a Muslim. I think his God is the State. But you can use Muslim images, in a civilized way, as a metaphor for his foreign policy.
