INSIDE STORY: Senator McCain Punts on Acorn !
Gretawire ^ | October 10th, 2008 | Greta Van Susteren

FNC Embed Producer Mosheh just sent me this info…..scroll down to the bottom and you will see what Senator McCain says about ACORN (but he discusses other matters here as well): From: Oinounou, Mosheh To: Sent: Fri Oct 10 21:17:18 2008 Subject: URGENT: MCCAIN TRIES TO TAMP DOWN SUPPORTERS SAYING TAKE DOWN OBAMA FNC LIVE Lakeville, MN Town Hall Meeting McCain is trying to tone down the over-the-top, extremist and bigoted rhetoric coming from his supporters with a simple message “it’s got to be respectful.” It did not go over that well among some of his hardcore Republican base who repeatedly booed the GOP nominee and that message today. It was really a must see. At his second straight town hall meeting in as many days-McCain was repeatedly (6 different times in fact–including by former US Sen. Rudy Boschwitz) called on to fight harder against Obama and bring up the Democrat’s associations with Bill Ayers, Wright and others-but McCain tamped down his recent “who is the real barrack obama” rhetoric and begged supporters to conduct themselves in a respectful manner Friday. (SEE PLEA TO FIGHT HARDER VERBATES 1-6 below) But, he was booed multiple times for calling for respect and at one point had to grab the mic from one supporter who called Obama an Arab and defended him as a “decent family man citizen.”

I could swear John McCain doesn’t really WANT to be the President -

He seems to be going through the motions and looking forward to returning to the collegiality of the Senate
and his self-imposed title of “Maverick”

Perhaps he is a man whose future is behind him

A respectful manner does not include ignoring the truth, Senator McCain. Maybe someone should shoot some WD-40 up his nose so his circuits will connect and complete so he can begin campaigning in earnest.

Come on people!!! He’s got us. Do you actually think that these mushy middle of the roaders are going to be impressed with what you are suggesting? If you read that transcript, he does say that he’s gonna keep on keepin on about these red meat issues. He’s just practicing crowd control. Damage control. In front of the cameras. For the libtards who think they have something to salivate over. On t.v. In front of the mushy middle of the roaders. He saw it coming. Ya’ll need to get a grip, if he had to talk about this for a week (the rabble rouser narrative that is starting to emerge), it will no help us. Get a grip folks.

I think McCain did the right thing by asking people to be respectful. Encouraging that kind of behavior can lead to nothing good. And when it goes bad he would be blamed, and I know just who would be more than eager to covertly start it so it could go bad. Do you get what I am saying? They would crucify him.

I really don't understand you people. Of course it's got to be respectful and factual. If he went out there making half-cocked claims like some of you, he'd be laughed out of the race.

You know, I vaguely remember John McAmnesty from his acceptance speech urging Americans to “Fight with me! Fight with me for freedom! Fight with me for America!!!”

That WAS him, right?

WHY THE HELL WON'T YOU FIGHT, JOHN???

Now he is backing away from the fight for this NATIONS future!

McCain, you are blowing this for yourself AND our children.

When I read the multiple posts, on this page and others, that say something like: “Hey, calm down now!” or: “Stop over-dramatizing this!”, I have to wonder if these “cooler heads” really know something, or if they are just in heavy denial of the sad political reality re: Juan McNUTS, or if they are D.U. and/or Daily Kos lurker types, trying to lull us into a false sense of “Hey, don’t worry! That self-inflicted wound isn’t so bad—why, it’s just a minor flesh wound, so don’t worry, be happy!” /super sarcasm off.

"over-the-top, extremist and bigoted rhetoric coming from his supporters "

at that is defined by whom? The Obama camp. And McCain sheepishly obeys and lectures his own supporters. If he believes Obama is so swell and we have nothing to fear from him, why is this disoriented old fool running? Can't take much more of this from him. Now he's being more confrontational with his supporters than with his good friend, Obama.

Your point makes some sense, “if he had to talk about this for a week (the rabble rouser narrative that is starting to emerge), it will not help us.” It was obvious that the MSM was looking for something to distrack the UNDECIDED. He is right to not fall into it.
On the other hand I am about cranked up dodging (OK not dodging real well) all this over-flow of crap hitting us and probably would have booed too had I been there.
Tuesday should be decisive whether we like it or not.

Ball-free Republicans don't win against rock-star Democrats.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

My ideal candidate is a cross between Barry Goldwater and Vlad the Impaler.

“And what we have today are the most flaccid bunch of dorks imaginable.”

It’s been way too long since the repubs controlled the narrative, and it sucks. The 9/11 Commission, the Fanny/Freddy fiasco and the Bailout Bill, GWB meekly agreeing that WMD were not found (BS!), and now this.

I also would prefer a lot more backbone and attack mode, but I floated the idea out here that he doesnt want race wars on his hands when he wins. JM is actually the candidate who is NOT being divisive.

Hussein is a rock star alright, and his degenerate side is being exposed. That trait may work for Dhims, but hopefully not for mods and indies.

Good post. You are correct.

All of us would love to see a fist fight - but, we need to step back and realize this man is running for President - not Bill O’Reilly’s position.

I want to see more “fire” and less compassion for the other side - but you and all of us know, each attack is met by the opposition by a counter move. Judgement has to be used to make sure McCain is not led into a trap.

No, we are not DU’ers. We are trying to make people realize that he is running for President of the United States - not for Bill O’Reilly’s job.

I would like to see more from McCain - but unless he tries to control his crowd he will merely be cast as a riot enabler, race baiter, whatever.

We have to be respectful and some people get out-of-hand and cause more damage than help.

I am against catering to how things will play in the media - but, we have to in a presidential campaign. Look at how they are treating the Palin report.

McCain can steadily and thoughtfully bring up Obama’s associations, the reasons he will not be effective as president. And the ads can be the way to handle it.

First of all, how does it feel for a little payback after 8yrs of the vile crap that they said and are still saying about Bush.

secondly, Palin might not be going through this investigation if the law that Joe Biden championed against spousal and child abuse actually worked!

Liberals have been infiltrating conservative crowds for years shouting violent, racist epithets.

Conservatives should know how to handle it. Point out the vermin, disassociate yourselves and ask that he be removed by police.

Respect is one thing. Everyone should be respected, even Nazis and Commies and terrorists. Punting on the most massive voter fraud since Reconstruction is quite another.

I know, we all want strong fighters like Sarah. I have my doubts about McCain and his “maverick” role. I tend to think he is conditioned by his years of torture to go into protective mode when facing an enemy rather than attack mode. The attack mode might be handled behind the scenes.

But, being rash, ranting, yelling will just further the “irrational behavior” claim of Obama.

Agree. I was shocked when I heard what he said. But, radical vengeful conservatives will just be called the “radical kooks”.

There is a way to be firm but effective. Just look at how Sarah works. Look at that debate. Even Pagala (a liberal) claimed she thoroughly enjoyed seeing her come in and in 15 minutes take full control of that debate.
