It’s time for gun owners to take a closer look at just where Barack Obama stands on issues related to the Second Amendment. To that end, NRA-PVF has designed a new, comprehensive, and very informative Web site - GunBanObama.com - to serve as a resource for the facts on Barack Obama’s Second Amendment stance.

I've had it...I think, sadly, the day of a Hussein presidency is around the corner. I used to be a member of the NRA, but I let it lapse.

I re-joined today, and the adults in my house will soon be getting our Carry/Conceal permit.

I urge my fellow FREEPers to do the same...the danger is too grave.

Already done. And good for you.
Looks like we’re in for a bad ride.

Unfortunately the MTV crowd won’t wake up in time.
They have sold their souls to the devil if
they vote for that one.

Already been thinking about this as well.

I plan to purchase my first hand gun next week and will have my wife do the same. Any suggestions for a newbie?

Congratulations. ..and good job.

Anyone know the last GOP Presidential nominee the NRA endorsed who failed to win the election? I know they didn't endorse either GHWB in '92 or Dole in '96. ....and we know what happened to them. They DID endorse Reagan in '80 and '84, and GHWB in '88. ....and of course GWB in both '00 and '04.

So their track record for the past 28 years has been perfect.

I let mine lapse as the NRA wasn’t doing my money justice and they kept asking for more.

I re-joined the day I heard one of their hard-hitting radio ads last month. It was shocking to hear the NRA finally give voice on the radio. I don’t think I had ever heard a radio ad from them before. These ads they are running are good, damned good. They pull no punches and state directly that Obama will work with the Democrats in Congress to effectively ban all firearms.

Support the NRA so they can continue to run these ads all over the place.

Buy buy buy buy buy and buy all the ammo you can.
Ammo will be the first and easiest for these bastards to limit and ban.
Then they come for your guns.
If you can re;load your own and stock up.

Ammo is their gateway into banning your right to bear arms.

Trust me!!!!

I don't think Obama or the RATs in Congress have the guts to pass a law banning firearms.

They will simply appoint judges who will do it for them.

Sorry, most of the Freepers won't, not even the ones who claim to own guns. They all have the same stupid reasons which translate to "They simply don't care".

Here are some of the lame stupid excuses:
The NRA is antigun.
They send me mail.
They didn't send me my little plastic keychain.
Charleton Heston was once against AK's.
They didn't help my candidate.
They did something forty years ago I didn't like.
They bought a new building for their headquarters which paid for itself by renting out the unused offices.
I don't like that French guy.

Congrats … as a lifelong member of the NRA, I think you have made a wise decision. Personally, I don’t own a gun … conundrum? I don’t own a gun, but want my right to do so protected. ;-)

I would suggest a revolver (Smith & Wesson K-frame, used--police trade-in) in .357Mag/38Special.

Spend the money you'll save on training. You don't know what you don't know. A beginning defensive handgun class will open your eyes. Have fun and stay safe.

Good for you! I joined during the campaign of 2000 after watching an anti-NRA piece by Tom Brokaw. I couldn’t stand his smug and condescending tone. As soon as the program was over I got right on the phone and joined. I suspect that the NRA’s membership numbers skyrocketed that evening, so infuriating was that piece. Tom Brokaw...the NRA’s best recruiting tool.

“I don’t think Obama or the RATs in Congress have the guts to pass a law banning firearms.”

They’ll never ban directly. They’ll ban “sniper rifles”, “large caliber ifles”, and make regulation that bans all types of “assault weapons”. AS I said, they’ll effectively ban gun through one regulation after another.

An older relative of mine bought a Glock, but it was pricey...about six hundred bucks. His neighbor has two Hi Point pistols and is very happy with them. They are around two hundred dollars each or less.

I am on a budget, so we’ll go Hi Point. :)

I kind of feel guilty. I almost never read the magazine. If I can scrape something out of a retirement budget, I'll contribute something.

I did get a NRA hat along w/my card. I wear it when I walk my kid to school...right past the Obama mama’s. You know they are to scared to point and whisper....I could be carrying after all....(not.. but they don’t need to know)

There is a gun dealer a few miles down the road from me that has one of those new lighted signs that puts his message in lights. His message yesterday.....

Buy a firearm, a gift that will last a lifetime...unless Obama wins...then it is only good til January 2009.

I am female and don't own a gun. Never have. I am thrilled to report I joined the NRA today -- lifetime membership at $25/quarter, 40 payments.

Can anyone help me figure out which 18" 12 gauge shotgun will be best for me for home defense? No handgun arguments, please. I know I want a pump-action shotgun with the shortest legal barrel. I like the look of the police entry shotgun. If they like it for in-home use, that's probably what I need for in-home use. I want a good quality but "inexpensive" shotgun that will be reliable in an emergency and won't break my shoulder when fired. It will hopefully see little use except during gun training/practice. I like the Remington 870 18", but it's expensive. Gun show isn't here until January, which is probably ideal for my purchase, but I want to be informed and make the right decision. Just want this one gun and make it last under the bed with a trigger lock (?) that can be removed in the time my Old English Mastiff buys me to get it unlocked. Any suggestions are appreciated.

"Any suggestions for a newbie?"

Hi. I'm not a gun expert, but am in the same boat as you. No guns at home, never had one. But I can tell you one thing I've learned from my recent research: don't get the handgun for home protection. A short-barrel shotgun doesn't take great marksmanship to stop a person in your home. You and your wife don't need great aim under pressure, and if you miss, it's less likely to go through your exterior wall to your neighbor or into your child's room. You get a barrage of pellots in the general direction of your assailant, instead of one bullet, hit or miss. I'm a female and looking at a short-barrel, pump-action shotgun for my home. It'll fit under the bed with a lock. Just trying to think realistically about myself in an emergency with an intruder. You might look into a short shotgun instead of a handgun. It looks fierce as well! That's what police use for entering homes, Remington 870 18" shotgun.
