McCain Rally in La Crosse, Wisc.
Eyewitness FReeper Report ^ | Friday, October 10, 2008 | Me

I went to the McCain Rally in La Crosse, Wisc. It was a lot of fun. Local candidates were there, as well as Tommy Thompson. There were about 5,000 people in the La Crosse Center, which is about what it holds for these type of rallies. Lots of enthusiasm from the crowd and McCain was fired up, as well. Enjoy the pictures, you can see more of them here.

You’re welcome! I had a blast. Got up at 0345, carpooled with a friend and got to La Crosse by 6 or so. There were about 40 people in line by then.

Was this before or after the Minnesota rally that’s been all over the news? What was McCain’s approach on Obama?

This was before the Minnesota rally. The crowd did not chant “terrorist” or anything similar if IRC. They just booed every time Obama’s name was mentioned or alluded to. Folks in Wisconsin are a little bit “different.” Of course, there were three or so hecklers that tried to disrupt Sen. McCain’s speech but the crowd drowned them out.

You have great photos! Mine didn’t turn out so great. We were on the left side of McCain’s podium. My 11 year old daughter got to shake McCain’s hand. A nice and good humored secret service agent was nice posed in a picture with my daughter!

Those protesters outside drove me bonkers. It was nice to see some college kids confronting them.

I saw a clip on the news tonight of a campaign speech and I am not sure it was here but someone made a remark about how angry the people are about the country being taken over by socialists etc and directing you two, meaning Palin and McC to do something about it...
Anyway somewhere in his reply,,McC ever the gentleman went out of his way to say Obama is a decent man and if he should be president we don’t have anything to be afraid of that it was that he, McC has different opinions than Obama...
What a way to tank your own campaign.

Read the Washington post report. It’s pretty much sums it all up! They are starting to hit on all cylinders. Finally.

His people know. He knows. He’s going to have no problem with the crowds expressing it for him. We are PO’d.

The MSM here in New York City is making this out to be a rally of Nazis for McCain, and only showing clips of McCain telling everyone to calm down and not be antagonistic toward Obama.

Those remarks were probably made at the Minnesota rally that afternoon. We didn’t have any issues, except from the hecklers.

Here's a nice picture of McCain with a little kid. There were a lot of young people at the rally, from elementary school-age to college. It was great to see.

I’m so glad you got to go! Good job! :)

The Waukesha rally was a total blow-out. I posted an article about it. I’ll ping ya to it. Lots of good Sarah-shots there.

The Minn. rally was a disgrace .....for John. The crowd was fired up and wanted him to dispatch BHO. Instead he went back to the mealy mouthed malarky on ,’a nice family man, don’t be scared if he is Prez, and across the aisle.’ Too bad Palin didn’t answer the crowd’s questions. She would have been feisty and truthful about the faux Messiah, BHO.

I was at the La Crosse rally. While it does seem the audiences are all fired up no matter what state, McCain seems intent on delivering his speech as if he was in a tv studio. The preceding speakers, which included ex-gov Tommy Thompson, tried and succeeded in getting the crowd excited. They addressed the crowd in voices charged with emotion and got it excited. McCain does the exact opposite. Most of the time he speaks in a low emotion-less monotone which acts somewhat as a sedative.

Now I understand McCain wants to get his agenda out, and he does have some nice points. But he is not giving the audience red meat. And although he mentioned the FMs, I don't think he mentioned Obama's scuzzy past relationships. I saw a McCain tv ad where Obama's ties to FM scandal were mentioned, but I'd say the average Pubbie wants McCain to hit a lot harder than he has been.

Used to be a little bar in Cashton where they celebrated an annual Radish Festival.
Ever been there?

As much as I think I know about poltics, can somebody please fill me in on the “swing” regions of Wisconsin. I know that Milwaukee, Eau Clair, Stevens Point, and Madison are solidly Democratic. Where will the election be decided in WI?

Amen to that. It is unbelievable that John does not even have an inner Dick Nixon as well as Ronaldus Magnus. He cannot attack Dems as well as he can Pubs! It is sad and even poor Sarah cannot make up this deficit. It will take a huge outpouring on election day for the Pub ticket to offset the real weakness of this ticket. I fear BHO so much, that our vote for John will be made on pure terror, not because this guy has inspired us.
