ASHBURN, Va. -- As the presidential race revs up, political conversations in NFL locker rooms echo those in workplaces nationwide.
Taxes. Economy. McCain. Obama. War. Terrorism. White. Black.
And a dilemma for these high-paid athletes: principles or pocketbook?

Like anyone beyond the athletes themselves gives a CRAP about who they think should be president?
Oh, I know. Why don't we start asking 2 year olds who they want as President? Or people who recently set fire to other people. Let's ask people from the Maldives how they would vote. Or perhaps we should be concerned about what my dog thinks.
For CRYING out LOUD.

Actually, that’s not the Keebler Elf—It’s the Cleveland “Brownie”—still hilarious.

Wow...no mention of RACE in that entire article, which is most likely the driving factor in how these guys are going to vote.

It’s funny hearing DC athletes talking about “Republican money”. Many of the richest counties in the country surround DC and they are hardly Republican.

Yeah, I was just waiting for Clinton Portis to endorse one of the candidates before I made up my mind.

This is why it’s been almost impossible for McCain to gain any traction. A vote for Obama is based on principle. A vote for McCain is motivated by greed.

Good to see the homies got the talking points down. “Republican money?”
They were taught well by the community organizers back home in their respective hood.
BTW, check out the comments from the DT from the NYG. I forget his name, but hee says it’s easy to vote Obama after “Bush’s reign of terror.” I’m guessing he’s a bro.

Exactly... It all breaks down by race. The QBs for McCain. RBs for Obama.

I am sure this article is accurate. This race has made interaction between blacks and whites touchy. In most cases it's not racism. It's a recognition on both sides that there is a high probability for disagreement, so politics is just not discussed. The guy who trains me at our fitness center is black. He's a nice guy. We are fairly good friends, and we discuss, as I pant and puff, a wide variety of topics. We have never discussed this race. I figured that if he didn't bring it up, I wasn't going to. It's a little weird, but I'd rather the weirdness than get into a debate that won't change either mind but might put a damper on friendship. Ditto with the nurse at my doctor's office (this is strong self-interest — she gets to stick me with sharp objects). This election is serious and has major implications for our country, but I'd prefer not to ruin too many friendships over it. Also, I suspect that if I was black I might be supporting Obama too, out of a sense of history if nothing else.

Let’s hear from all of the college degreed players who can’t put together a sentence.
The NFL is pretty Republican even though there are a lot of black players, it’s a cruel, brutal, merit-based business. Most careers don’t last that long and they see the huge chunks of money they give to a greedy government that never has enough.
NASCAR and the PGA Tour are overwhelmingly Republican, to be a democrat in those cirlcles is to be a pariah, two more tough sports that are very much meritocracies.

You would support someone solely based on their skin color? That’s pathetic.

Wouldn't want to ruin a good dinner companionship over anything as trite as principles.

Exactly... It all breaks down by race. The QBs for McCain. RBs for Obama. You think that if Reggie Bush endorsed Obama, the press might play it up?
To: secret garden
No.
What I said, since you didn't bother to read or couldn't understand it, was that if I was black I might want to vote for Obama out of a sense of racial solidarity and history. I passed no judgment on that, but I understand it. Pull the rod out of your rectum.

How rude of you. I’ll avoid any contact with you in the future. Perhaps you need to read what you wrote and not accuse others of misunderstanding what you plainly said.

From the article:
Feagles' teammate, defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka, couldn't disagree more. "It's insulting to think you would vote based on how it affects you financially," Kiwanuka said.
Now, what other reason should someone use to decide who to vote for? Isn't B.O. talking all about the economy (you know, how things affect you financially!)?
The article doesn't say what Kiwanuka thinks is a good reason to vote, but I suspect that for him, in this election, it's the color of the candidate's skin!
