According to Reuters, the United Auto Workers (UAW) has announced that they are spending $3 million on TV, radio and Web ads to promote the election of Barack Obama this month.

The ads, which feature UAW members talking about lost health care benefits and the loss of manufacturing jobs, will run on television, radio and Web sites in the key manufacturing states of Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

These union thugs have some gall to claim that increasing benefits is a good idea. Let's take a look and see how unions have already made American car manufacturers uncompetitive with others.

According to Fortune Magazine, union health care costs add at least $1,635 to the cost of every vehicle. The same measures only add $215 to the cost of a car made by Toyota. Other union costs add an additional $980 per vehicle...

I hate to say it but the one thing about American auto makers going under is it would rid us of the UAW.

If Michigan goes for Obama as it appears they will, with the auto industry on the verge of bankruptcy and all their crooked politicians...then I will never purchase another vehicle from Michigan. The union auto workers can stuff their cars where the sun don’t shine.

24 hours after my discharge from the Navy, I bought an Oldsmobile, put together by UAW members for GM. Since that date in 1956 I’ve bought ONLY Oldsmobiles, assembled by UAW members for GM. I have only good results from my GM vehicles. It looks like it is time to purchase anything BUT a car assembled by whining UAW workers. People dumb enough to drive away their own loyal customers deserve to live on unemployment and welfare. It is now time for another car...be confident UAW members, I’ll stay away from that nasty old GM.

May 7th, 2007 Presidential Candidate Says U.S. Energy Policy Must Change; Offers Plan To Help Automakers Detroit (AP)

Obama said his plan encourages domestic automakers to make fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles by giving them health care assistance for retirees. Federal financial assistance would cover 10 percent — up to $7 billion — of automakers’ annual legacy health care costs through 2017, under Obama’s plan, which would require automakers to invest at least half of their health care savings into technology to produce fuel-efficient cars.

“It starts with our cars, because if we truly hope to end the tyranny of oil, the nation must once again turn to Detroit for another great transformation,” Obama said.

As a second choice, Obama’s plan would provide $3 billion to automakers over 10 years to help retool plants to make fuel-efficient cars and trucks.

“The need to drastically change our energy policy is no longer a debatable proposition. It is not a question of whether, but how; not a question of if, but when. For the sake of our security, our economy, our jobs and our planet, the age of oil must end in our time,” Obama said.

Remember, not all auto warkers are for Obama.. Or maybe even not most...

The union thugs are using money confiscated by the Unions from these folks, often against their will.

And I'm spending $30,000 for a car not built by the UAW.

"UAW members talking about lost health care benefits and the loss of manufacturing jobs"

Funny how those 2 things go together. Now Mr. Unemployed-Union-Member, see if the union is still "works for you" when you ask them for help.

The movie Hoffa, starts out with some trucks exploding as they sit in a parking lot one night. The message was clear, deal with a certain supplier of labor or your life. This use of terrorism is the bedrock of the labor movement.

I guess they want to lose the rest of the jobs and benefits.
