Freeps,
I just watched the La Crosse Rally, and it was compelling enough that i wanted to start a new thread. Many thanks to bayliving for the original live thread!
This was the best speech in my opinion that McCain has given all year. It was detailed, mature, hard hitting, and very Presidential.
A new narrative seems to be developing that is really exciting: Underdog. McCain has shifted the message from "dont believe the polls" to "we are down like we always are but we are going to surprise everyone one more time".
Also, McCain introduced a new idea: to erase the requirements in IRA, 401k for seasoned citizens to be forced to withdraw their money. Excellent idea!!
The crowd was fired up, very intense, and I think we just might surge in WI!!

Live streaming video of McCain’s townhall meeting in Lakeville, MN can be found here.....http://kstp.com/ beginning at 3:00PM CDT today...
More and more Americans are starting to finally realize how much of a criminal, communist, racist and thug Barack Hussein Obama is.
I can only hope and pray that things shift toward John and Sarah, and the future of our Republic.
We are going to win. I feel it. I know what the polls say. but the feeling in the air is different.
Simple and effective -- it would allow people with other forms of savings to ride out the market turmoil...
it is....i sense it too
almost a re-awakening of the base
I hope and pray you are right. People of Ohio, please pull it out for John McCain!!!!!/Just Asking - seoul62......
thanks for the post! Hope he keeps up this spark. I think he will and LOVE the enthusiasm!!!! McCain/Palin will win. It’s going to happen. It’s almost as if the Economy problem has been such a downer so long that American voters are becoming desensitized to it and where Obama should be much more ahead becasue of Bush presidency through this crisis...it seems voters are holding out. I really think they will fall toward McCain in the end...it will happen. I cannot imagine America truly voting for a radical, muslim Obama....not gonna happen. Dems will just not vote than put in a vote for him....AND Republicans need to come out in force...big time.
“we are down like we always are but we are going to surprise everyone one more time”.

Um..I’m not sure I like that line.
That stuck out with me, too. That should happen now.
McCain needs to buy TV time to address the nation, several spots of a minute or more during the next couple of weeks. Use the live rallies for raw meat against Obama. Use the TV spots for solutions, to look presidential and, believe it or not, pep talks about how the country has weathered financial storms before and survived. But make sure to say that socialist solutions have never worked and that’s what my opponent is proposing.
the line was better than how i represent...
it actually worked really really well
Me either.
That’s a good idea (401k). McCain needs 4-5 economic ideas e.g. drop cap gain tax, flat tax...etc. People respond...they will be issues to work through on them but voters want to grab on to a lifeline out and not socialism.
Nah. I have two sisters-in-law that are supporting "the one". Both are otherwise intelligent. Just hopeless liberals.
Hey McCain: Eliminate all capital gains taxes until further notice and watch the markets spring to life.
You couldn’t be more right! I love an underdog and I think the silent masses are going to come out on Election Day and vote McCain-Palin!
Did he name Romney as Secretary of Treasury yet?
“We are going to win. I feel it. I know what the polls say. but the feeling in the air is different.”
I feel it too...it’s a very calm feeling...can’t explain it...but you just know....
Isn’t that against the law to name your cabinet??
I really believe the energy of the base is the key to this election. I've yet to see a Presidential election that we lost when our base was truly energized.
I’m with you. The key will be how much voter fraud ACORN can get away with now that they are being investigated. If the recent crackdown scares the cheaters, then maybe we will have a fair result and a fair result should put McCain in the Whitehouse.
“Also, McCain introduced a new idea: to erase the requirements in IRA, 401k for seasoned citizens to be forced to withdraw their money. Excellent idea!! “
He’s going after the Independent voter. Excellent!!!
One debate left, John...one left...

Correct. Saying this at a stump speech is one thing, he needs ADS in battleground states, and he needs to say this during his speech. GIVE HIS PLAN, AND ATTACK OBAMA.
Either we win or here comes communism........Dope-bama is just the empty shirt Little Georgie Soros has been waiting to fill.
Oops, I meant during the DEBATE, not speech.
I find the Underdog narrative very appealing at this stage of the game. McCain was excited to unleash this new talking point...said it with a smile and tons of energy.
I think many Americans love a good story of triumph...we love the underdog good guy. I think this is a good way to swing over some independents.
any other thoughts on the underdog narrative?
Obama, the Democratic Dewey
I've been thinking of giving out American flags for the yard to prove to each other we are on the same team?
What do yall think about this idea
Thought about canvassing the parking lots of grocery stores, Lowe's, etc.
From LauraJean's lips to Gods ears!
I haven't been this scared since the eve of the 1976 Presidential elections..........
My father thought there was going to be another depression like 1929...... it was one of the last things he talked about before he died from cancer in 1999.
He appears to be doing just that but will he show up at the last debate and "Stand up and Fight" Dope-bama or will just fizzle out like a loose wick on a bottle rocket?
Be brave and trust in God. We will get through this. They can take our money but they can’t steal our freedom.
So true, taking the position of the underdog is better than saying, “The polls are wrong, we’re going to win.”
As you mentioned, American’s love to root for the underdog, so maybe they’ll vote for one to?
This old man knows politics and he is timing his ads and speeches to make a surge at just the right time.
I was at the Waukesha townhall event yesterday. That crowd was ready to get the torches and pitchforks out and go to Washington and throw out the bums who caused the financial mess by making terrible policies. Everytime the subject came up, people went nuts!
Sarah Palin told us the only way around the MSM bias is for us to get out there and talk to people. She also told us to keep asking questions of our politicians until they answer us. She was awsome.
Problem with that is most of Mcpain’s talking points have Socialism (with the capital S) written all over them!
His biggest strike would be to say he is for securing the borders. He already does NOT have any Hispanic vote to pander.
I was really disappointed that McCain didn't mention names this morning at the La Crosse Rally..the people were very pumped up............McCain's mentioning of Barney Frank, and Chris Dodd connected to Obama and Acorn would have raised the roof.
I hope you’re right...and BTW, I’ve been impressed with some of the Wisconsin folks urging McCain to take the fight to Obama. There is palpable anger across this country at the Democrats, and if McCain can articulate it and tap into it, he will win.
But here’s the real bottom line—and no slam against the good people of Wisconsin or Minnesota. Does McCain legitimately have a chance in your states? The pollsters say no, but I don’t believe their data reflects what I saw in those Wisconsin campaign appearances.
Herein lies the opportunity to do well by the electorate:
1. Suspend the required distribution at 72 to keep people from having to take their losses in this market.
2. Suspend capital gains tax indefinitely.
These are winning opportunities and a chance to really readjust the markets to reality. No one should be taxed on their capital gains. Ever. And forcing retirees to take losses in this market is not equitable (pun intended).
Go for it John!
You are absolutely right. He should be introduced by Mitt Romney. Every rally, Mitt Romney should be giving one or two points about Economy and introduce McCain. Those consultants in McCain camp, making 100 dollars/ hour should come out with some good ideas.
Imagine how much McCain would soar in the polls, with an intro by Romney.....{good idea Rj}.

Mr. Bi-partisan shows up again. Can't solve the problem without pointing out what started it and that with Obama in Washington along with Dodd and Frank, it won't get solved. Period.
You're about the fourth or fifth Freeper I've observed, including yours truly, who was at the meeting. Too bad we can't have a coulee region Freeper club.
exactly... he's preaching to the choir at these rallies... where is this "fired-up" guy during the debates? so far, he's brought none of that... he has one more chance... i'm not holding my breath...
He just doesn't know what he's up against. And he doesn't seem to care. His campaign is going to go down in history as being worse than Dole's (and that's saying something). You cannot run old senators. They're too caught up in the whole "collegiality" thing and don't know how to fight.
Hope you guys had a good place to see McCain.
We let my 11 year daughter and her friend worm their way up to the front of the crowd so she could see better. It paid off for them. They got to shake McCain’s hands.
It was wonderful to be surrounded by college students at the rally who were pumped up for McCain. Even the college students outside wanted to confront the protestors. I just assumed most young people now a days were liberally brainwashed in school to love the democrats!
Who was it that said in the beginning of the speeches that our crowd could be just as good as the crowd at the townhall meeting yesterday??
