McDonald's surrenders! Boycott declared over
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | October 09, 2008 | Bob Unruh

Posted on 10/10/2008 2:16:48 AM PDT by Man50D

A corporate executive for McDonald's restaurants who had been on board of directors of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce has stepped down following a boycott of the chain organized by the pro-family American Family Association.

McDonald's officials confirmed today to WND that Richard Ellis, who had been named to the "gay" chamber board after McDonald's contributed $20,000 to the organization, "made a personal decision to step down" after he accepted a new position with McDonald's Restaurants of Canada.

McDonald's officials also told AFA the company has no plans to renew its membership in the special interest group when it expires in December.

"We appreciate the decision by McDonald's to no longer support political activity by homosexual activist organizations," AFA chairman Donald E. Wildmon said in a prepared statement.

WND reported in May when McDonald's signed onto the "gay" agenda, and one executive for the fast-food chain later accused Christian advocates of the traditional family of being motivated by "hate."

The AFA called for a boycott and established a website to facilitate the effort. However, AFA officials today said the boycott was being called off after the company notified the AFA Ellis has resigned from the board and "his seat on the board will not be replaced by McDonald's."

"McDonald's stated that the company would remain neutral in the culture war surrounding homosexual marriage," the AFA said.

This is not enough for me. I will continue to not go to there. I still have a problem with the hiring of illegals.

If your sexual orientation is your private concern, and it makes no difference to your public life and responsibilities, then how come there needs to be a “National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce”?

you wouldn’t have much to eat if you boycotted every company that hired illegals. They are everywhere, from meat processors to vegetable pickers to dishwashers in restaurants.

I have a problem with bad food cooked who know how long ago sitting in a steamer til I come along.
Food slopped together haphazardly by some clown like Tom Dashale who is there only cause they can’t get a real job.
1st McDonalds takes a social stand on homosexuality. Course they take the wrong position and when the position they take causes moral folks to not go to McDonalds the company takes back their social stand for money?
McDonalds blows.

Boycott McDonald’s?

I have been boycotting McDonald’s since the birth of my oldest 18 years ago.

I boycott not due to their political activity but because there food is crap.

The 18 year old went to McDonald’s once with his friends and hated the food.

My 15 year old daughter has never been and says she never will go!

I believe the boycott against Ford was successful as well.

Sure, the Ford Boycott worked so well that last week the American tax payer had to loan the American auto industry 25 Billion and on Thursday GM Stock hit its lowest price since 1950!

If not for the Ford Boycott the American Auto Industry would be doing great!

I bet their ready-made answer is "Because there are those who won't let it be a private concern" and then there'll be some mention of Matthew Shepard.

I still have a problem with the hiring of illegals.

I'm thinking the illegals problem is about to be solved by widespread unemployment among CITIZENS. The illegals are going to self-deport back to somewhere they can at least keep a couple chickens.

I understand they are often not very well paid and the conditions of service are not good, but there is nothing wrong per se with working in a fast-food outlet. There is nothing wrong or dishonorable in any form of honest labor.

Here’s a few:

USAA
Aflac
Smith and Wesson
Winchester
Cabelas
Marathon
Subway
Whirlpool
Berry Plastics
Mead-Johnson
Vectren
Lowe’s
Insight Communications
and thousands of small locally owned businesses who somehow manage to make profits without hiring illegals, or peddling junk.

Our friend's daughter worked at McNasty for a while. She dropped a burger patty on the floor and threw it into the trash. The manager told her to pick it up amd use it anyway. She said "No way I am serving that to anyone." They gave her a chance to leave or get fired.

I used to work at a McD’s in the days I was putting myself through college (it was the only job an unskilled just out of high school kid could get easily and it was money).

I know what goes on there. For that reason, I won’t eat there.

If anyone really wants to, the best time is lunch time during the weekday when the head managers are likely to be there. I’ve found that they often run a tight ship and keep an eye on things. Once they’re off, though, forget it.

I don’t know about other parts of the US, but here in the midwest you would be extremely hard pressed to find a restaurant that didnt’t have some illegals.

Fast food: behind the counter
Casual: cooks and bussers
Upscale: bussers and dishwashers

I'll never buy another Ford again, ever, because their products are crap. I bought my '03 Windstar new; it only has 61K miles on it, and the damn thing has been falling apart for the last two years. Not for lack of maintenance, I baby my vehicles like the financial investment that they are. My dad has run into the same problems with his Freestar. They're garbage.

I can't wait until the tranny goes. I give it another 10K miles before that'll need replacing.

Same here. Despite others, I thought their food was OK for a Quickie while travelling. However, as with K-Mart and their Rosie O'Donell bit, once boycotted, never go back as there are too many other competitors for your business.

I’m just saying as someone who knows the food industry, that they are everywhere. They do very hard, dirty work and willing to do it for very low pay.

Folks only go to McD’s because the kids like it. Homo’s & lefties rarely have kids.

Folks are crowing about some “boycott that worked” but, I don’t find anything in the first couple hundred words to give me any reason to think McDonald’s Corp. is any less pro-homo than ever. What I see is a lot of hedging and double-speak by corporate mouthpieces.

This could be nothing more than some exec decided to step out of the line of fire and AFA hopes to take credit for it. Any day now, there will be a solicitation letter from AFA in my mailbox, claiming to have toppled McD’s homo agenda.

You don't think logic appeals to them, do you? They are liberals--if they FEEL bad about something, they think that alone justifies their forming this kind of group. It's too complicated to actually show evidence that already-existing groups AREN'T handling such cases. It's more fun to just start a "special" group.

I bought my one and only in the late 80s. It died with less than 60k miles on it. We said never again and have not.

On the last repair hubby told the dealership he was going to have it crushed into a cube and sent to their HQ.

We have kept the file folder titled “The car from hell”.

It was my last stupid decision as a single woman. Hub said I would have never have bought it if we had been dating then.
