McCain, Palin sharpen character assault on Obama
AFP ^

Posted on 10/09/2008 3:54:29 PM PDT by Chet 99

WAUKESHA, Wisconsin (AFP) — John McCain and Sarah Palin cranked up a searing character assault on Barack Obama on Thursday, but another day of punishing losses on Wall Street further dented their White House hopes.

The Republican nominee and his vice presidential running mate railed against Obama's personal honesty, but the deepening financial crisis played into the Democratic nominee's hands as he slammed Republican economic policies.

Trailing badly in the polls just over three weeks before the November 4 election, McCain and Palin accused Obama of not telling the truth about the extent of his relationship with 1960s radical William Ayers.

"Look, we don't care about an old-washed up terrorist ... the point is senator Obama said he was just a guy in the neighborhood," McCain said in a town-hall meeting in the swing state of Wisconsin.

"We know that's not true. We need to know the full extent of the relationship because of whether senator Obama is telling the truth to the American people or not."

Translation for non-leftists: McCain, Palin begin to more frankly speak the truth.

I think McPalin had better come up with a plan to save the economy or the smelly terrorist acquaintance will be elected president.

If the economy seizes up, people won't care about some old crackpot professor from the 1960’s. They will care about a national bankruptcy and personal bankruptcy.

McCain has done a good job calling attention to the deep ties between Obama and Ayers. His call for a better explanaiton of Obama’s disingenuous efforts so for was fairly reserved.

Oddly, the journalist finds some moral equivalence between toiling for four years as an employee of a domestic terrorist and McCain having someone that spoke at a rally that dared used Obama’s middle name. Freedom of speech is on the ropes.

McCain needs to link Obama, Ayers, Frank and all of the Lefties to the collapse of the economy and blame them for the mess. The Left is very clever and they are being handed the opportunity of a lifetime to seize power.

Remember, Marx wrote that capitalism would collapse into itself. That is happening today and his political descendants are about to take power. This is a truly scary moment in history. The American experiment may be ending.

“I think McPalin had better come up with a plan to save the economy “

There is nothing that can be done. We’re probably overdue for an economic Depression - they usually come about every 60 years or so.

“but the deepening financial crisis played into the Democratic nominee’s hands as he slammed Republican economic policies.”

Meaning what? That democrats love a bad economy? Is this the only way they can win? By wrecking the economy as they did through Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae?

They need to link Obama with his funding and training of ACORN directly to this economic crisis.

When I think about blacks now I wonder if they care at all about the fate of America in the hands of a man who associates with terrorists. A man who is connected to a fraudulent voting scheme. A man who forced banks to give loans to unqualified people.

Ultimately the people hurt are the blacks. Lives destroyed, garnering suspicion rather than respect.

You might be right. The last depression brought us FDR, the New Deal and the socialist based political system that is now causing the collapse of our economy. The chaos might usher in the communist Obama and all of his friends. They can complete the conversion within 4 years with the help of a Democratic Congress. Game over!

They cannot just stay on Ayers. They’ve got to establish the pattern= Ayers + Odinga + Wright + Rescoe + Raines + Johson + etc.

When you've lived in poverty all of your life, you dream about the collapse of the oppressor state and the rise of a new class of privileged people that includes you. I hear this on the street. “Now it's our turn” etc.

In a new, black run America, they believe they may get a “fair” chance. Like those nice African states where everybody lives in a utopia of plenty and bling!

"We know that's not true. We need to know the full extent of the relationship because of whether senator Obama is telling the truth to the American people or not."

McCain already knows the answer to the full extent of the relationship. He's acting like a good prosecutor. You never ask questions you don't already know the answer to. You get the witness to testify to what you already know. And if you don't get a complete answer the first time, you rephrase and keep pressing.

They also need to find out why Obami (the commie) has his records and life at Columbia buried. An enquiring mind wants to KNOW.

It doesn’t matter to Obama’s supporters. In fact, linking him to revolutionists only makes them love him more. We’d be better off if we could link him to Reagan.

Funny, the term “character assault” would leave me to believe that lies are being told. In the case of Obama, not enough is being told. I guarantee that Obama could not pass the security inspections that I undergo regularly.

If you even imagine that secrets that get to him will not be relayed to our enemies, you also really believe that we are being visited by aliens.

(Oops, forgot that we ARE being visited by aliens.)

There are millions of black people in the middle class.

Good jobs, good schools, free to buy a home anywhere in America.

When they remain silent they approve of the likes of Obama.

A man with every advantage, thanks to his grandparents’ sacrifice. Is this how he repays their love and support.

I am sickened by the campaign and the media who enabled this vile person to even consider running for president.

An application might ask embarassing questions like:
A. Place of Birth
B. Ethnicity
C. Religious Preference

How long are these documents kept before they are purged?

In some ways, this is the most dangerous facet of the coming Obamadministration.

Imagine, if you will, Julius Rosenberg elevated to the presidency.

An off-the-wall thought:
Will our military really, really accept Obama as “commander-in-chief”?

Could Obama and his cronies do things so endangering to the national security that we could see a “Seven Days in May” situation develop, or even be thought of?

“The chaos might usher in the communist Obama and all of his friends.”

You’re dreaming. The clinton wing in the DNC wil not get rolled over in a coup by nobama’s thugs. The fascist federal bureaucrats are controlled by the clintons. They’re not about to tolerate nobama’s mob killing the golden taxpayer goose.

If McCain could quit opening his mouth with band-aid prescriptions for the economy, I believe a good chunk of the debate in the next 10 days could be very favorable to him. At least part of the focus until the next debate will be on Obama and he always fares worse when the focus is on him. They’ll be more news cycles about Ayers, Rezko, and Wright. McCain is also starting to bleed him on taxes, as part of the debate on the economy has focused on reigning in spending in light of the circumstances. Even the New York Times admitted McCain is the only candidate who has mentioned freezing spending in most areas. It is accepted economic fact that raising taxes in a recession isn’t wise. The facts also proven that Obama’s tax hikes won’t cover the costs of his health care and education proposals.

Bottom line : McCain drives up Obama’s negatives and tightens the race if he focuses on character and taxes/spending.

Those are McCain’s winning issues. Contrast the war hero against the Daley machine’s favorite son with questionable ties. Contrast fiscal responsibility (at least the semblance of it) against a fake Democratic tax cut and trillions in additional debt.

I must be nuts! I'm cheering for the Clintoons?!

I hope you are correct. The devil we know vs. the devil we don't. I do know who the Obama people are and, frankly, they are far more terrifying than Bill and Hill. Any port in a storm...
