McCain Goes There
Weekly Standard ^ | 10/9/2008

Posted on 10/09/2008 11:42:08 AM PDT by markomalley

Waukesha, Wisconsin -- In response to a broad question about how Barack Obama "got here" -- presumably got his lead -- John McCain didn't name Bill Ayers but spoke of him directly. McCain said "We don't care about an old washed up terrorist and his wife" who said earlier this decade that he wished they were more successful. (Several in the crowd chanted: "Yes we do!")

McCain noted that Obama had referred to Ayers as "just a guy in his neighborhood," and said "we know that's not true. We need to know the full extent of that relationship to know whether he's telling the truth to the American public."

Sarah Palin, following up, took a shot at the media. "Mainstream media isn't already asking all these questions, you guys have to help us....When will the questions be asked and when will we get answers?!"

UPDATE: The next question came from a black McCain supporter, who reminded McCain of the candidate's plea at the convention for his supporters to do everything possible to ensure a victory. The supporter said: "I doubt that anyone has taken, pardon me, the ass-whoopin' I have taken for doing that." He then implored McCain to go after Barack Obama at the next debate and asked him to raise ACORN and Reverend Wright. "I am begging you, sir," he said, as the crowd stood and applauded.

"Yes, I'll do that," McCain responded, before promising to offer "a positive plan for America's economy."

Why Won’t Obama Talk About Columbia?
The years he won’t discuss may explain the Ayers tie he keeps lying about.

If it is a must see, where is the video? Why doesn't the GOP have a website with video of all of Sarah Palin's campaign rallies?

Were I able to talk to McCain I would say “Senator, if you want to be the President of this country, stand up and start fighting. If you don’t, get out of our way and quit. The same goes for your VP. She’s a beautiful lady, she’s smart, she’s funny. Get past all this stuff and stand up and start fighting for us. We will get behind you if you want us. If you don’t ......let someone else do it.”

Haven’t we seen these one day spurts out of McCain then back to status quo? He can’t sustain the banter because its not his style. He cruised for a couple of weeks on Palin’s sails now time to exhibit passion to the finish.

If McCain is to have any chance of winning he needs to hit the Ayers angle hard.

He also needs to push the Odinga story. To me, that is by far the most outrageous of all the associations Obama has had.

It consists of Obambi violating the Logan Act by supporting a radical Islamist who has strong anti-US, pro-Islam policies. The American people can understand that scandal and it will make a difference to many of them.

Will McCain listen?

I was slightly annoyed when Greta asked Sarah last night about Reverend Wright and she couldn’t answer by order of John McCain. You could tell she was pulling at the chain but decided at the last moment that she would follow directions and pass on the question.

Doggone it, does McCain understand that we’re going to drag his sorry butt to the White House?

We’re pumped and ready and we’re not going down without a fight.

Why isn't the GOP putting up the video of these campaign appearances? McCain's campaign is missing a big opportunity to reach out to people. I want to see all of Sarah Palin's campaign rallies. And the GOP is nowhere to be found in providing this. This is 2008, not 1968.

That's nice, but I cannot watch TV every minute of the day. The GOP needs some central website where they can put up the video of these campaign events. Then people can view these videos when time permits. The GOP is missing a big opportunity to connect with the American people.

I have tried searching. It is hit and miss. Much of the time the videos don't exit. As for the GOP being busy, they are busy screwing up this campaign. The GOP needs a website where they put up all this stuff. That would be called competent management of a campaign.

“Yes, I’ll do that,” McCain responded, before promising to offer “a positive plan for America’s economy.”

...this answer of “Yes” will now make the 3rd debate THE debate. If McCain goes back on this, I believe a lot of conservatives will stay home. It’s one thing to keep quite on such a subject as Ayers for whatever reason-—it’s quite another to promise to make this an issue at the debate. He damn well better.

I saw some of that rally, it was great---just hand the mic to the people and the questions they want to ask will come up--and will be about the things we care about--that is why Obama won't do town halls with McCain. Can you imagine an average Joe asking Obama to explain his relationship to Ayers???? Would be classic!

I am SICK of the Obama camp saying that the American people don't care about the Ayers stuff and only care about the economy! That is complete BS! Our national security and economy go hand in hand and if we can't trust our POTUS because he pals around with terrorists than who cares about the economy or anything else???

I was just watching McCain & Palin talking in Wisconsin and I'm really confused.  McCain was asked by the audience his opinion of hate crime laws, and he explained it the way most of us would.  He tossed it to the governor for her opinion and she said; "You are sending your troops to Iraq in a few months" and continued on talking about guard units and her normal stump speech stuff.  Did she not know what the question was?  Did she not care what the question was?  Did she think troops and hate crime legislation have something in common?

Wisconsin is a blue state.  I can see one or the other being there, but both of them seems a waste.  McCain's tactics simply confuse me.

It was a great time. The place was packed. I didnt plan on attending, but once again, my 13 year old talked me into it. It was amazing how many school age and young adults were in attendance. Ex Governor Tommy Thompson was there and that alway get Wisconsin roaring. And Milwaukee’s county executive, our own reformer Scott Walker was also on hand. The black gentleman received a standing ovation from the crowd and a hand shake from Sen McCain and Gov Palin.

He won't do anything. He isn't up to it. He had the opportunity the other night and he blew it, let it all go right past. Now he just looks like he's weak, like he was afraid to bring it up to Obama's face.

He's the worst possible guy to put up against this radical Marxist thug. He just wants to play the nice-guy thing, he's got no fight in him. He talks tough at all these town meetings then he shows up for the debate and talks in that weak voice, and sounds like grampa.

I'm disgusted with his failures and lack of fight. Can you imagine if Romney or Rudy were there the other night at that debate? They would have wiped the floor.

I won't believe McCain will do it or is up to it until I actually see it happen. We all want him to fight, and we're all behind him, and he still won't do it. I'm amazed.

Who is going to go over the heads of the MSM if not HIM?!?! - the American people need to know this stuff and he's the only one who can get it out to 63 million people who are watching the debate!. NO ONE hears his townhall meetings! NO ONE! He's preaching to his own choir. It's useless to do it there and hope for the MSM to get one soundbite or something!

Okay, I'm done now. I'll go back to my corner and stew.

That is the problem--bits and pieces scattered around the Internet. I am talking about a central location where the GOP puts up all the videos of campaign events. I don't have time to search for all the bits andpieces. Nor can I travel to all these events

The GOP needs to put all these videos in one place on a website.
