Waukesha, Wisconsin -- In response to a broad question about how Barack Obama "got here" -- presumably got his lead -- John McCain didn't name Bill Ayers but spoke of him directly. McCain said "We don't care about an old washed up terrorist and his wife" who said earlier this decade that he wished they were more successful. (Several in the crowd chanted: "Yes we do!")
McCain noted that Obama had referred to Ayers as "just a guy in his neighborhood," and said "we know that's not true. We need to know the full extent of that relationship to know whether he's telling the truth to the American public."
Sarah Palin, following up, took a shot at the media. "Mainstream media isn't already asking all these questions, you guys have to help us....When will the questions be asked and when will we get answers?!"
UPDATE: The next question came from a black McCain supporter, who reminded McCain of the candidate's plea at the convention for his supporters to do everything possible to ensure a victory. The supporter said: "I doubt that anyone has taken, pardon me, the ass-whoopin' I have taken for doing that." He then implored McCain to go after Barack Obama at the next debate and asked him to raise ACORN and Reverend Wright. "I am begging you, sir," he said, as the crowd stood and applauded.
"Yes, I'll do that," McCain responded, before promising to offer "a positive plan for America's economy."
i watched the entire town hall
it was a stunner....exactly what we needed at this time. tons of great soundbites and it will resonate for a few days!!!!!
its a must see
Any chance CSPAN or Fox got videos of this? I would love to see it.
If it is a must see, where is the video? Why doesn't the GOP have a website with video of all of Sarah Palin's campaign rallies?
Were I able to talk to McCain I would say “Senator, if you want to be the President of this country, stand up and start fighting. If you don’t, get out of our way and quit. The same goes for your VP. She’s a beautiful lady, she’s smart, she’s funny. Get past all this stuff and stand up and start fighting for us. We will get behind you if you want us. If you don’t ......let someone else do it.”
I didnt get to watch it all is it on line ?
Haven’t we seen these one day spurts out of McCain then back to status quo? He can’t sustain the banter because its not his style. He cruised for a couple of weeks on Palin’s sails now time to exhibit passion to the finish.
About time Johnny Mac started swinging.
Was this on Direct TV or a local station??
He also needs to push the Odinga story. To me, that is by far the most outrageous of all the associations Obama has had.
It consists of Obambi violating the Logan Act by supporting a radical Islamist who has strong anti-US, pro-Islam policies. The American people can understand that scandal and it will make a difference to many of them.
Where’s his birth certificate ?

Well, you’re not suggesting that Palin hasn’t been fighting, are you? Because, whatever McC’s been doing, she surely has.
It was live on FOX.
Will McCain listen?
I was slightly annoyed when Greta asked Sarah last night about Reverend Wright and she couldn’t answer by order of John McCain. You could tell she was pulling at the chain but decided at the last moment that she would follow directions and pass on the question.
Doggone it, does McCain understand that we’re going to drag his sorry butt to the White House?
We’re pumped and ready and we’re not going down without a fight.
Oh, that? That’s on “delayed discovery”.
He’s a naturally born citizen of the USA, of course, but we just don’t have the time to produce an official birth certificate. That’ll have to wait until after the election.
Why isn't the GOP putting up the video of these campaign appearances? McCain's campaign is missing a big opportunity to reach out to people. I want to see all of Sarah Palin's campaign rallies. And the GOP is nowhere to be found in providing this. This is 2008, not 1968.
McCain: “Well, EXCUSE me!”
They just showed it again on the Strategy Room.
You’re right, it’s 2008. You have Google, and YouTube, and a whole host of tools at your fingertips. If you want this stuff, go get it. They’re kinda busy. (Although I imagine they do have at least some of whatever you’re looking for.)
That's nice, but I cannot watch TV every minute of the day. The GOP needs some central website where they can put up the video of these campaign events. Then people can view these videos when time permits. The GOP is missing a big opportunity to connect with the American people.
Palin has done a lot more than McCain but I believe, as the election is getting close, get tougher. Show that she can help lead this country from the top.
Maybe Disco Louis has it.
Me, I’m pretty happy with what she’s been doing. I just wish there were seventeen of her, to campaign at different locations simultaneously.
The Brinks robbery was in 1981 and not all of the participants were ever identified. I want to know, were Obama and Ayers both at Colombia in October of 1981?
Wisconsin Rally today !

I have tried searching. It is hit and miss. Much of the time the videos don't exit. As for the GOP being busy, they are busy screwing up this campaign. The GOP needs a website where they put up all this stuff. That would be called competent management of a campaign.
“Yes, I’ll do that,” McCain responded, before promising to offer “a positive plan for America’s economy.”
...this answer of “Yes” will now make the 3rd debate THE debate. If McCain goes back on this, I believe a lot of conservatives will stay home. It’s one thing to keep quite on such a subject as Ayers for whatever reason-—it’s quite another to promise to make this an issue at the debate. He damn well better.
I’m not unhappy with her.....I just want to see that Pit Bull in her.
Sure, the pros are busy "screwing up" a campaign they're well positioned to win. If only you were in charge!
Thanks to a fellow FReeper, I am watching Fox News on blinkotv.com, it is live Fox News and is free. I downloaded a plater and watch it on my desktop but you can also just watch on their website (but with the desktop you can make it full screen)
Why did they breal awau from McCasn's rally?
It was a great time. The place was packed. I didnt plan on attending, but once again, my 13 year old talked me into it. It was amazing how many school age and young adults were in attendance. Ex Governor Tommy Thompson was there and that alway get Wisconsin roaring. And Milwaukee’s county executive, our own reformer Scott Walker was also on hand. The black gentleman received a standing ovation from the crowd and a hand shake from Sen McCain and Gov Palin.
I was watching it and they broke away, I tried desperately to switch to another channel, none of them had it on. Then Fox came back with it. That’s what I saw. sorry that is the way it was in my area.
He's the worst possible guy to put up against this radical Marxist thug. He just wants to play the nice-guy thing, he's got no fight in him. He talks tough at all these town meetings then he shows up for the debate and talks in that weak voice, and sounds like grampa.
I'm disgusted with his failures and lack of fight. Can you imagine if Romney or Rudy were there the other night at that debate? They would have wiped the floor.
I won't believe McCain will do it or is up to it until I actually see it happen. We all want him to fight, and we're all behind him, and he still won't do it. I'm amazed.
Who is going to go over the heads of the MSM if not HIM?!?! - the American people need to know this stuff and he's the only one who can get it out to 63 million people who are watching the debate!. NO ONE hears his townhall meetings! NO ONE! He's preaching to his own choir. It's useless to do it there and hope for the MSM to get one soundbite or something!
Okay, I'm done now. I'll go back to my corner and stew.

May I suggest we all email McCain and plead with him to do exactly what this black supporter implored him to do? Here’s some email addresses to various people in the campaign.

McCain better start whoopin’ some ass lest he get his own ass whooped on election day.
That is the problem--bits and pieces scattered around the Internet. I am talking about a central location where the GOP puts up all the videos of campaign events. I don't have time to search for all the bits andpieces. Nor can I travel to all these events
The GOP needs to put all these videos in one place on a website.
Ok, I was watching on the TV.
