NRA Endorses McCain, A Bigger Deal Than You Might Think
National Review ^ | 10-9-2008 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 10/09/2008 9:08:23 AM PDT by Frantzie

People may have expected this, but my understanding is that the NRA's endorsement of John McCain wasn't a guaranteed outcome, because of the NRA's past disagreements with McCain about campaign finance reform and his support for a gun show restriction bill he cosponsored with Joe Lieberman....

The key here is the NRA has lots of money to run ads, NRA members will be voting and Obama is a real Second Amnedment risk - even more than Kerry or Gore.

The NRA is also NOT afraid of lawsuits from Obama. No one intimidates the NRA.

As stated below - when the NRA endorses a Repub candidate they usually win.

More importantly: "There's a pretty straightforward correlation between NRA endorsements and Republican presidential victories. Since 1980, they endorsed Reagan twice, George H.W. Bush the first time but not the second, and George W. Bush twice."

That’s pretty telling in it’s own right.

This is important in Pennsylvania, where we have a lot of Democratic gun owners—those “bitter” small town people who “cling to guns and religion.”

The influence of the NRA is very underrated. They do a great job of turning people out.

This will help McCain big time in OH, PA, MI, VA, NC, WI, and CO.

Interesting. How about in '96? Did they endorse Dole, or withhold any endorsement? Even so, their record is near perfect in this regard.

So Dole didn’t get the nod? Was the NRA still deemed radical after Waco or something? Oh, by the way, I am the NRA.

It’s widely agreed that Al Gore probably would have won in 2000 if he had not made the major mistake of running on an anti-gun platform.

The Democrats were making a full-bore attack on gun owners in those years, deluded into thinking it was a winning issue, and it backfired on them badly, thank God!

Thanks for laying out the facts. I assumed that no gun owner or defender of the Second Amendment would vote for Hussein, but it's good to keep in mind the other benefits.

The NRA is also NOT afraid of lawsuits from Obama. No one intimidates the NRA.

I'd love to see Hussein's "Truth Squad" show up and try to intimidate the NRA ("Well do you feel lucky punk, do you? Go ahead, make my day!").

As far as I’m concerned, the Republican Party is simply the NRA plus the Club for Growth.

Those are the two most effective organizations on the conservative side of the ledger.

This is great news.

“I don’t know if the NRA endorsed Dole are not but I think he was OK on gun rights as far an my memory servces me.”

I don’t know if they endorsed him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t. Dole, Mark Hatfield and 2 dems, on the night before the Thanksgiving break passed Brady.

http://www.gunowners.org/bihow.htm

[snips] ON THE DAY BEFORE Thanksgiving, the U.S. Congress brought forth a constitutional turkey. The Congress decided that the Second Amendment did not mean what it said (”... shall not be infringed”) and passed the Brady bill.

” But Bob Dole and company chose to give up many chances to fight these bills this year. In fact, Senator Dole was quoted in the Washington Post on November 21 (while the filibuster was going on) as saying: “We finally decided . . . let’s get the Brady bill behind us.” There was no need to help those who would take away our rights to do so more quickly. A football team that offers no resistance as its opponents march to the one-yard line, should not expect to keep them out of the end zone.

And negotiations always favor those who are less willing to compromise. Yet during the critical November 20-21 period, what was Bob Dole saying? According to the New York Times of November 22: “Let’s get the best deal we can and move on.” “

ABSOLUTELY

We need to get this drum beat started - yesterday.

If we let the houses continue under Reid and Pelosi - that will ham string McC/Sarah.

MOST dangerous - if the demRats get their 60% majority - NO Republican bill will EVER see the light of day/

WE need to oust the criminals in DC that orchestrated, presided over and protected this economic meltdown - else we will see far worse real soon/

I first learned about Sarah in an NRA magazine. I had a fellow come to my office to give me a quote on some work. I saw his truck and he had a rifle sticker and a McCain sticker. He is an NRA member.

He said Obama will take our guns and I know he is correct. Obama is backed by Soros. They wiped out the financial system using Fannie & Freddie and Soros has made billions.

You write in jest: “OH NO! And I went and renewed my NRA membership. Obama’s “people” his “truth/squash squads” will be coming for me”

If we let this man gain control of the WH, this will be a very real possibility.

As we know, the goons of the liberals already control our colleges and practice Communist tactics of intimidation, reporting on and ‘reeducation’ of citizens.

Look at these clips and as you shudder, email them to the media and the campaign.

FOX is stepping up to the plate and really exposing the demRATS and ‘bambi. Let’s keep FREEPING them info.
Remember the formula of the networks: The office people that screen the emails only pass them on when they get X-amount on a given subject.

So this is OUR part - WE the PEOPLE - in protecting our freedoms.

hannity@foxnews.com

oreilly@foxnews.com

Special@foxnews.com

ElRushbo@eibnet.com

ontherecord@foxnews.com

letter@charleskrauthammer.com

me@glennbeck.com

and the McC/Sarah campaign at:

info@McCainPalinVictory2008.com

Be sure to add your name and town and email - or they won't read them.

IMPORTANT when emailing. they won’t read mass emails - SO,

put just one email add in the “to” line then click on BBC at the end of that line. a BCC line will open just above subject line. copy paste the rest of the addresses in there and each recipient will see ONLY their name - and in the subject line make reference to OBAMA'S PRIVATE POLICE FORCE or OBAMA'S NATIONAL POLICE FORCE

Let’s make it happen. This is our part in protecting our freedoms = WE THE PEOPLE - we act now or get ready for Jack Boots and Brown Shirts...Obama already has his personal police force plans ready

copy the email addresses for use for the rest of the campaign
