Young Voters Boost California Marriage Amendment

by Jennifer Mesko, editor

Television ad, door-to-door campaigning shift momentum.

California's Prop. 8, which would amend the state constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman, is gaining support.

In a poll of likely voters conducted for CBS 5 in San Francisco, Californians favored the marriage amendment 47 percent to 42 percent. The strongest support came from voters ages 18 to 34, a group that has supported same-sex "marriage" in previous polls.

Marriage advocates attributed the gain to their first television ad, which was released last week, and to their massive door-to-door campaign.

"We are thrilled with the new polling data," said Yes on 8 campaign co-manager Frank Schubert. "It confirms what we have heard from thousands of supporters.

"The ad that is running is powerful and provocative. Not only does it show the arrogance of those who would impose same-sex marriage on California whether we like it or not, but it also shows that voters are beginning to understand there are consequences to … same-sex marriage."

Jenny Tyree, marriage analyst at Focus on the Family Action, said the poll is a shot in the arm to supporters of marriage in California, and will hopefully serve as the momentum needed to pass Prop. 8. But it was only 12 days ago that those opposed to the measure had the lead, so every vote will count on November 4.

...when I see things like this it restores my faith in young people....they haven’t all had their brains rotted by MTV....and I’m going to predict a new age of student dissent on campus too....the kids are going to rebel against high costs, liberal indoctrination and worthless degrees like ethnic and gender studies...deep down inside they know they’ve been handed a crock of educational sh*t for years now.

As liberal as Cali can appear, the voters always resist same sex marriage. A similar amendment won by around 60%, only to overturned by a judge.

I have no doubt that younger voters would be for gay marriage, HOWEVER, once again they are relying on a group that is notoriously bad at getting to the voting booth. lol. Let them think this will pass...

There is an excellent book called The Turning, it covers the generation beyond Gen X. Interesting perspective. Gen Y and beyond will be anti PC and anti Wall Street. Reason, they are tire of being hemmed in from PC and are not impressed with the business world who treat workers (their parents and familly) as commodities (to be used and spit out) while the guys running the company gets bonuses even when the company goes down the tubes. Next generation will be Main Street and more Libertarian (don’t impose on me and I will not impose on you).

"A must see -- Assault on Families"

The good news is that the Christian community is finally getting motivated out here in CA and this web video from Massachusetts has been publicized far and wide.

The left's playbook is very clear on this issue.

* First, get marriage legalized by playing on the diversity heartstrings.

* Second, teach marriage equivalence in the classroom.

* Third, pass new legislation calling any anti-homosexual speech a hate crime, because "gay marriage is the law of the land."

* Fourth, protest against those remaining pastors who still adhere to the truth of the Bible.

* Fifth, they can't sanction the pastors or their churches but they can sure remove their tax exempt status. Try to achieve this end by initiative. Now we have state snoops listening to Sunday sermons and spying on Wednesday evening Bible studies in church basements. The media and the left will claim, as the Stalinist tactics continue, "they're only trying to enforce the law."

Most churches will knuckle under. House churches will spring up -- like China, where the state promotes and official version of Christianity and the Christians practice the true version underground, late at night.

* Sixth, the left can't pass book laws forbidding the true Bible but they will find a way to sanction publishers who operate in the state.

On and on. Once we give the left this little inch they will take not a mile but a light-year. It will also give them the fodder they need for perpetual revolution and electoral dominance.

There's NO positive argument to make for same sex marriage. Its a sham and no society that ever destroyed the family has ever managed to survive.
