You’ve got a domestic terrorist in Ayers. He has said he should have done more along the lines of his activities in the 60s/70s. He still says he won’t swear off bombings in the future. Obama was much closer to him than the media is reporting. This alone makes me think the media is just plain crazy. And the public are willing to dismiss just about anything to support their guy.

I read somewhere that Bernadine Dohrn worked in the same law firm as Michelle Obama.

According to Wikipedia, Bernardine Dohrn worked for Sidley & Austin from 1984 to 1988, while she unsuccessfully sought admission to the New York and Illinois bars. (According to Sidley’s managing partner, Dohrn didn’t get admitted to the bar because “She wouldn’t say she’s sorry” for her acts of domestic terrorism.) It appears that Dohrn first worked in Sidley’s New York office, and then in its Chicago office.

Did Michelle Obama and Bernardine Dohrn work together? Did they know each other at Sidley? When and how did they come to know each other?

I don’t mean to suggest by these questions that there’s any reason to conclude that Barack Obama and Bill Ayers met through their wives. As Andy suggests, it’s quite possible that they met earlier in New York. Another alternative, as Steve Diamond speculates, is that Obama and Ayers may have worked together during a battle over reform of Chicago’s public schools in 1987 and 1988 (before Barack met Michelle).

According to a 1982 New York Times report, Broadway Baby was implicated in an investigation of a series of violent armed robberies in New York—netting more than $2 million over a two-year span—committed by former Black Panthers and Weather Underground members in the early ’80s.

Their aim? Global revolution, naturally. They needed cash, but the rich white parents weren’t in a giving mood. So their privileged offspring grabbed guns, pointed them at the faces of the working man and, sometimes, they pulled the trigger.

At Broadway Baby, customers often paid by check and used driver’s licenses for identification. On Dec. 28, 1979, information from two customer files was used to apply for two driver’s licenses at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. The fraudulent licenses were used to rent getaway cars for the gang.

Investigators tracked the identities on two licenses for the getaway cars. The names belonged to women who had shopped at Broadway Baby in December 1979. But they weren’t robbers.

And who was the manager of Broadway Baby during that period of the customer ID theft?

Dohrn, the future wife of Ayers, identified by investigators as taking customer information from one, and possibly both, of the women shoppers. Dohrn was never charged in that case.

Bill Ayer’s and Bernadine Dohrn’s children are some 20 years older than the Obama children. They did not attend the same school at the same time, it was at widely separated times at the same school. Like Bill Ayers did not know young Barack Obama (or Soetero) in 1970, but certainly they could have met when Barack was already an adult, as Bill Ayers is almost old enough to be Barack’s father. Certainly could be old enough to be like, say, an uncle.

Bill Ayers’ parents were big deals in the Daley political machine in Chicago, which goes FAR to explain how and why young Bill escaped the consequences of his actions. A great number of these “youthful escapades” are covered up in the ordinary course of a day’s business in the Windy City.
