Lieberman Calls Obama 'Naïve,' May Bolt Party in Future

Tuesday, October 7, 2008 3:23 PM

By: Tim Collie and David Patten

Sen. Barack Obama’s “naïve” world view could embolden America’s enemies during one of the most dangerous periods for America since the 1930s, U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman told Newsmax in an exclusive television sit-down interview Tuesday.

Lieberman, visiting Fort Lauderdale, Fla., also told Newsmax that he is so disappointed with the Democratic Party, he will consider whether to bolt the Democratic Senate caucus next session.

“I believe he’s naïve to think that people like [Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad and Tehran will somehow become America’s friends by talking to them — a warm embrace and a cup of tea. It’s not going to work that way,” said Lieberman.

McCain’s recent decline in the polls was “unfair” and “not rational,” Lieberman said, referring to the negative economic news that has impacted the McCain campaign.

Hey Senator, while you are in Florida, why don't you tell the good citizens there why McCain should get the Jewish vote and not Obama.

The only question with Joe Lieberman is whether he will be kicked out of the Democrat caucus before he leaves voluntarily.

In this session of Congress, the Democrats needed Joe to keep their Senate majority, and control of the Senate. Depending what happens on election day, there may be several more Democrat senators. If the Dem. leadership doesn’t need Joe to keep the majority in the next Congress, they will evict him from the caucus.

He can save face by leaving before they disown him.

Why? This is what the dimocrat party is now. Why they won't call themselves the National Dimocratic Bolshevik Party is beyond me. That is what they are.

I think he has appeared with Palin on a few of her recent stops throughout Florida, so yes, he is doing just that. (Although speaking not just to the Jews.)

I like the 2008 Lieberman, he’s a mensch. He needs to leave the Democrats and adjust a few of his domestic views too. His foreign policy is swell. He would do good at Defense or State. Thanks, Joe, for all you’ve done this year.

Lieberman should have thought of that a long time ago. The dumping of the Speaker Poliseeeee and Reiderererer would have been one of the most important things that could have done. Think of all the bills that these two torpedoed or would not even come to the floor.

Thought he was an independent because they bolted him first. He's dead to them politically, so he may as well stop caucusing with them. That won't happen because he'd lose his chairman spots.

Lieberman will bolt because he knows that the Dems won’t need him after November to have a majority in the Senate. They will strip him of his committee chairmanship on Jan 20 at the latest due to his apostasy.

I would agree but with this caveat:

If there is a Dem party in the future.

My belief is that the Dem party is no more. It ended in Denver. Millions left the party. The left has taken it over. Its a Nationalist Socialist Party, just like those of Europe in the 1930s. History is cyclical. The conditions that gave rise to fascism are almost identical today to those of 1930s Europe.

Its all set out in Johnah Goldbergs well researched and annotated work ( Its not polemic).

Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of AMerica's Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning"

( Politics of Meaning=political correctness and associate culture, invasion of politics into every aspect of our private lives)

Get it and read it today. You will be glad you did.

After all it it the eve of Yom Kippur and that would be be a good time for him to cast aside his sins of being a Deomocrat.

Exactly. Lieberman could have done some good by joining the Republican caucus this session and tip control of the Senate. If the Dims gain more Senate seats next month, whatever Lieberman does will be irrelevant.

What we must desperately hope for is that the Dims and their RINO allies do not get a filibuster-proof 60 seats.

In comes Hillary, calls a news conference. Says she has a change of heart, cannot in good conscience support Obama. She sobs that she fears under his leadership what may happen. Democrat party reacts with disgust in public and cheers in private, it's all about congress anyway. Democrats regain some footing with the values crowd with Hillary's ballsy speech and Obama’s campaign is over as his candidacy limps to an ignominious 40 state wipe-out.

...So far out there ehhhh????

Lieberman strikes me as a decent guy. I probably disagree with him on 80 to 90 percent of everything, but I think he does love this country.

It really bothered me when he was on the ticket with Gore. He compromised himself far too much and it was disappointing.

Democrats get highly upset when you question their pseudo-intellectualism. This is why they continually insist that Republicans who beat them are “morons”, “fools”, “monkeys”, “senile”, etc.

Through a paradoxical twist, they equate “intelligence” with “adherence to doctrine”, not actual study of valid knowledge.

It also plays very strongly to common feelings of inadequacy found in the academic world. Many academics feel that they are less capable than they should be, so put on airs of competence and feign superiority.

The end result is pathetic. Democrats who abhor history as “the greatest enemy of socialism”; who likewise have no understanding of foreign policy, economics, or administration.

This is the sorry underpinnings of Obama. His “hope” is just “hope for political power”, but power for its own sake—no idea on how to use it. And “change” is just “change from realism to idealism”. This is how he can promise Trillions of dollars for this, that and the other.

His view of economics is that “If we need money, we just print money”, like the economics of Zimbabwe. No idea how money is made, how an economy works, or what he had for lunch yesterday.

Importantly, the government of Zimbabwe paid a witch a huge sum of money for her “gasoline stick”. When you struck a rock with the stick, gasoline flowed out of the rock.

This is the Democrat understanding of economics in a nutshell.

Says she has a change of heart, cannot in good conscience support Obama. She sobs that she fears under his leadership what may happen.

Problem with that is that public doubts about Obama are not nearly as deep as senior Democrat doubts about him, so Hillary would not expose herself to attacks by saying any such thing. She wants Obama to lose, but she'll do it behind the scenes through tactics like quietly getting her friends at CNN to look into the Obama-Ayers connections, for example.

Joe was with Palin at the Boca Raton Hotel the night before last. He will probably make the condo visits.

Wexler has been to those condos to push Obama and he gets boo’ed by at least half the crowd.

Sid Dinnerstein is the head of the GOP in Palm Beach County and he has been doing a great job.

I think that white Dems will have to vote McCain or they will lose the party. The GOP could flip a lot of these people to Repub because who wants to be in Obama’s party?

If McCain wins, the Clintons are back in control.
