Taken at face value, the paper seems to be suggesting that a decision to keep the baby contradicts the doctor's assertion that "women must be free to choose." In other words, the only "right" choice would be to abort the baby.

This has ALWAYS been the position of the pro-death crowd.

I heard Liz Trotter refer to Trig as ‘it’ this weekend on FOX. Pizzed me off. She was saying that Palin was “having it on stage with her all the time”. Her point was that she should be doing that.

Someone at my church said that to me last night and I was stunned. I recall being asked when deliberately with child at the age of 41 if I wanted an amnio saying no I wasn’t going to make any decisions based on an amnio. I was having a baby. Period. This is not strange in the circle of educated critical thinkers I enconter. My OB accepted it and said no more.

This election is about life and death.

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: Deut 30:19

Heard it quite a bit on this site. One guy (whom I won't even bother to ping) said that Palin would drive “All non fanatics” to Obama because.
1. She didn't abort Trig (Down’s babies should not be born).
2. Her daughter didn't get an abortion (hinting that she doesn't believe in the pill).

For the pro-death crowd, it's no longer a matter of choice but a duty- sad indeed how far society has come! God help the weak and unwanted among us!

My baby is fine by the grace of God and if my baby had been a Down’s baby that too would have been by the grace of God. There is a mom at our elementary who has two Down’s babies and she is an awesome mom. No oe would dream of suggesting she do anything different than what she has done.

This election is about life and death.

Probably more than with ANY other election in American history.

The sight of little Piper Palin licking her hand and flattening Trig's hair during their mom's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention is likely to stick in the public mind years after Trig's hair is again unstuck.

Siblings always take the place of the career mother as best they can.

It may surprise some people, but there is a long list of qualified, wonderful families who are specifically requesting to adopt a Down's Syndrome baby.

Anyone who is expecting a Down's baby and is not up to the challenge of raising the child, should not ever feel guilty about placing the baby in a loving, nuturing enviornment.

It's a win-win situation.

Now this whole thing is offensive enough, but I’ve heaved a sigh of relief, actually.

I thought the headline meant “they” didn’t believe Palin wanted to keep the baby, and was pressured into it by Repub political forces....

Which would’ve really outraged me!

“above all else, women must be free to choose,”

Would that all these liberals would paraphrase that for EVERYTHING ELSE IN LIFE for EVERYone.

“Such laws are not uncommon in the United States, but the SOGC has taken the position that, once an unborn baby is recognized to have a legal existence and right to live, the entire question of abortion and “reproductive rights” takes on a new frame.”

Yup. In fact, I’ve questioned the contrary nature of this for a while. My own People’s Republik of MD allows for counting the fetus as “live person” in crimes, but not “if mother wants to be free of it”.

“Dr. Lalonde said that above all else, women must be free to choose, and that popular messages to the contrary could have detrimental effects on women and their families.

“The worry is that this will have an implication for abortion issues in Canada,” he said.”

Seriously.....so she should aborted her baby so other mothers don’t feel pressured to keep theirs? What a tool. She was free to choose also and she made her choice.

Trig is just precious. As is my Down's grandson now 10, in fact Mr. Precious is what I call him, and no one else can, lol.

Nathan is so smart and clever and is above his goals all the time in school. We treat him just like any other child and expect him to accomplish what he can. I really don't think he knows he is differant, within the family that is. At school that is another story, when other kids call him dumb, that hurts him. He talks about that sometimes, but not for long then he just goes on with life. He does have a lot of "normal" friends at school who love and protect him.

I can't imagine life without this soul, he is just a joy and God has richly blessed us. If I could I would not change a thing.
