What China has now is a lot of foreign assets as hostages, and U.S. T-bill holdings as a leverage.

They pretend they are invincible until the moment before their collapse. The concept of 'face' can work both ways. It can make people head off potentially embarrassing troubles. Or blatantly brazen, denying their problems, never apologizing.

China tends to be the latter.

China’s internals haven’t looked good lately either, especially after the Olympics. Their economy is down by 2/3.

However, this is not the population’s reaction to the market downturn. This is how the governments of those countries will deal with it (Military buildups and aggression).

Economy != Stock Market

Chinese stock indexes have been whacked but their economy is still expanding. Same with ours.
