In Fla., Palin Goes for the Rough Stuff as Audience Boos Obama

"I was reading my copy of the New York Times the other day," she said.

"Booooo!" replied the crowd.

"I knew you guys would react that way, okay," she continued. "So I was reading the New York Times and I was really interested to read about Barack's friends from Chicago."

It was time to revive the allegation, made over the weekend, that Obama "pals around" with terrorists, in this case Bill Ayers, late of the Weather Underground. Many independent observers say Palin's allegations are a stretch; Obama served on a Chicago charitable board with Ayers, now an education professor, and has condemned his past activities.

"Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," Palin said.

"Boooo!" said the crowd.

"And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,'" she continued.

"Boooo!" the crowd repeated.

"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.

Palin went on to say that "Obama held one of the first meetings of his political career in Bill Ayers's living room, and they've worked together on various projects in Chicago." Here, Palin began to connect the dots. "These are the same guys who think that patriotism is paying higher taxes -- remember that's what Joe Biden had said. And" -- she paused and sighed -- "I am just so fearful that this is not a man who sees America the way you and I see America, as the greatest force for good in the world. I'm afraid this is someone who sees America as 'imperfect enough' to work with a former domestic terrorist who had targeted his own country."

"Boooo!" said the audience.

“What kind of nutjob yelled “kill him”?
This does not help our cause.”

What makes you think anybody did?

If a right-winger had said anything along those lines, it would have been “execute him”, not “kill him”. Those on the right respect due process. An execution occurs after a trial.

“Kill him” sounds more like the stereotype the left has of the right. An angry mob.

Remember when the left was surprised to the reaction of the right when Palin’s daughter was revealed to be pregnant? They thought there would a ringing condemnation of her. They were surprised to find the reaction from the right was compassion.

This sound more like the writer heard something (I don’t know what), but their mind/bias interpreted it as “kill him”. Not what you would hear from the right. The likely “angry” responses from the right would be “execute him” or more likely “if he doesn’t like American then he can leave.”

I gurantee they made that up if there is no video or audio.

This is the “chains behind the pickup” commercial BS.

remember for democrats, voting for a democrat ONLY because of skin color is not racist it is enlighted.

slavery is freedom as orwel wrote in 1984

“Point out that Ayers is a terrorist like Timothy McVeigh—only not as successful.”

This is a point we need to bang home (and which I have been suggesting for a while, not that they listen to me.)

The American public understands who Timothy McVeigh is.

I believe he said they don’t communicate “on a regular basis” To me, that means they STILL COMMUNICATE, just not every day. Maybe one week it’s Monday, Wednesday, Sunday. And the next week, it’s Tuesday and Friday. That’s not a regular basis, ie. not consistently every day or every other day.

It's the New York Times, remember. They invent stories, quotes, and even people. I seriously doubt someone yelled "Kill him."

And even if someone did, they were probably referring to Ayers. And truth be told, I'm not in disagreement with anyone who thinks we should terminate terrorists with extreme prejudice.

Here are some photos I took at the Clearwater event today...

American flag formation by part of the crowd.

A Young Republican -- maybe a future VP?

Sarah fans.

Our hero arrives.

Thankful and humble.

Joe Lieberman introduces Sarah (I'm a Democrat who ran as an Independent who is supporting the Republican ticket).

The heels are on -- the gloves are off.

Looking back from the stage.

Guys love Sarah, too.

Making fun of the other ticket.

Working the crowd.

Saying hi to a Downs baby from the audience.

Yeah, I understand that. I was saying that I’ve heard the campaign SAY Obama has condemned Ayers, but I can’t find the actual real time quote from 0 himself actually condemning Ayers.

Closest thing I’ve found is a quote from Obama on Fox News Sunday, April 27, 2008:

“Now, Mr. Ayres is a 60 plus year old individual who lives in my neighborhood, who did something that I deplore 40 years ago when I was six or seven years old.”

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/04/27/transcript-obama-on-fns/

Deplore means:

1 a: to feel or express grief for

b: to regret strongly2: to consider unfortunate or deserving of deprecation (many critics deplore his methods)

And regret means:

1 a: to mourn the loss or death of

b: to miss very much

2: to be very sorry for (regrets his mistakes)

So, Obama still hasn’t condemned Ayers. It’s apparently OK with Obama that Ayers still hasn’t repented of his bombings and his anti-American views, though Obama regrets that the bombings took place.

Obama might be sorry the bombings took place, but the guy who founded the group that did the bombings, the guy who taught others how to build those bombs, that guy is just a regular guy who happens to live in Obama’s neighborhood.

I wonder if talking about it now by the McCain camp is too little too late?

No. November 5th is too late. People don't have to settle on an opinion until they actually vote.

This is the hoary Soviet Pravda everybody knows technique, in which that which Pravda wanted to be true was described as "Everybody knows that..."

The “writer” at the Washington Compost!

I wish we could stop slandering compost around here - it's far more useful than the WaPo.

“...but I can’t find the actual real time quote from 0 himself actually condemning Ayers.”

There a video showing Nobama condemning Ayers’ previous acts, but not condemning the man himself. It happened during a debate with Hillary, I believe.

Yep, what was Tom Brokaw doing at that rally?
