Conservatives question McCain’s attack strategy (If McCain's going down, take the MSM with him)
Christian Science Monitor ^ | 10/6/2008 | Jimmy Orr

With a month to go and the poll numbers down, the McCain campaign is playing the guilt by association card, and that’s leaving some conservatives uneasy.

On Saturday, the recently unsequestered and newly empowered Sarah Palin went on the offensive, toting the “gloves are off” line and then rolled out the sound bite the McCain campaign knew would get a lot of ink pixels:

“Our opponent … is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country,” she said to a boisterous crowd in California.

Mucho media

As a result, Obama’s health care speech in North Carolina was squashed. All eyes and ears were on the moose-hunting governor of Alaska.

Palin was talking about Barack Obama’s past relationship with Bill Ayers, the co-founder of the violent 1960s era group the Weather Underground.

“Low-blow,” cried the Obama campaign emailing a list of news organizations that have concluded that the relationship between Obama and Ayers is tenuous.

I have read the CSM for 40 years, and it has turned as left as most other MSM papers in the last 10 or so.

I now cringe every time I seem them here — I know the article is going to lean way left.

SAD!!

If John Mc Cain can't weave a story on how the Democrats created te credit crisis.

2012 will be like 1994 for the GOP. Eric Cantor

Bobby Jindal and comapny taking over the party and we lose the Bob Dole's of the party.

If this morphs into a wider attack on Obama’s #2-on-the-list in bribes from Fannie Mae, then it’s good.

If it stays at this level, just looking at his past associations, it’s not good enough and it’s not going to work.

This is not the jugular. The Fannie Mae stuff is the jugular.

McCain, go for the jugular.

You will win.

LOL...as though the Christian Science Monitor, based in the msm liberal northeast, even knows any conservatives. Notice there are never any names attributed to these “uneasy” conservatives.

Sean Hannity had a great documentary on Fox last night about BO’s radical history that definitely should be aired a few more times before the election. It shows that BO is definitely a deceitful and dangerous character who must not be trusted with the presidency of the USA.

Don’t worry “get along” types:

John McCain will order Governor “Pit Bull” Palin stop the attacks, and apologize publicly to Obama on her behalf soon.

/no sarcasm.

It’s not guilt by association, it is guilt by active participation and trying to implement the policies that the marxist gurus of Obama advocate, using the very tactics and agitprop tricks that the like of Saul Alinksy have been pushing for years.

Tell the Nervous Nellies to get out of the way. We have a campaign to run. People absolutely need to see what an abomination (Obamanation) would look like as it relates to his association with guys like Ayers. Last night’s one hour on Obama’s terrorist friends was incredible and I hope it re-airs up to the election. These associations need to be OUT THERE and we know the MSM isn’t going to help. But this is the information people need to understand the nature of Obama’s community service experience. A real eye opener.

Who cares if it is guilt by association? Obama doesn’t have a campaign without associating McCain with Bush. What’s good for one is good for the other.

"The Fannie Mae stuff is the jugular."

Absolutely. Ayers/Rezko makes a nice set up, but the FM/FM CEO's buying Obama's silence, and the Dems inaction on FM/FM contrasted with McCain's early warnings are the big punch.

Also, they need to revisit the experience issue. Be bold, get in their face. Obama wanted to compare himself with Palin? Fine. Make an ad on it. She has 5X the experience of Obama.

Nice to see someone on the right (Palin) not afraid to hit back.

Enough is enough--even if the Republicans lose, they need to take the fight to the 'rats and let America know Obama's character is questionable.

Are BHO’s ideas and rhetoric really his own, or is he just a mouthpiece? He has no track record of leaderhship and decision-making of his own. He has a track record of doing what he’s told, from scrubbing his record to voting present, etc.

The AD that should be out there is one of BHO as a puppet with the question, WHo’s really pulling the strings?

Its a question of character

The democrats are playing it this way - McCain's lobbyist friends, Pelosi mentioning the Republicans are the blame for everything as they're passing the bailout, its all meant to hurt McCain via guilt by association.

I think "conservatives" questioning the strategy are seeking an honorable Republican loss, rather a Republican victory.

There is no such animal as “the social security surplus”. All funds go into the general fund and are spent accordingly. There is no separate fund and no surplus. Not even in a “lock box”.

Today’s WSJ quotes some undecided voters who say that things about Obama’s past and associations troubled them. How do they know these things? EMAILS!

Copy these troubling articles we post here and get them into circulation - particularly among older voters who are very likely to pass them along.
