The Associated Press has long been a bastion of liberal bias. But has it now sunk to the level of a left-wing blog in the throes of a severe bout of Palin Derangement Syndrome? Yes, suggests the Morning Joe folks. In a rare bit of unanimity, the panel condemned and ridiculed AP for its "analysis" item, "Palin's words carry racial tinge." According to Douglass K. Daniel, the item's author, Palin's criticism of Barack Obama for his association with Ayers somehow carries "a racially tinged subtext." See Warner Todd Huston's earlier discussion here.
Mika Brzezinski questioned the strategic wisdom of the McCain campaign's playing of the Ayers card, but even she joined in the excoriation of the AP.

After the debates, even the media acknowledge her connection with Mr. & Mrs. Six-Pack and the media know that the Six-Packs see no "racial tinge" in her comments.
If McCain-Palin play this right, the media bias will turn on itself.
How’s it racially tinged? Ayers is white. And he’s unashamed about being a terrorist and wished he had killed more people. And he’s Obama’s top advisor. A terrorist is a terrorist, no matter their race. Period.

Well gee whiz, I agree with Pat Buchanan on something. Never take advice from the hacks in the media. When they start squealing like the fat pigs they are, it means the attack hit close to home. If Big Media had just yawned, I would have been troubled. The fact is they’re worried that average Americans will find out more about the radical roots of the most radical and unqualified leftist candidate in American history.
Douglass with two esses tried to make the ludicrous point that, because Americans tend to think of terrorists as dark skinned Muslims, referring to Ayers as a terrorist is a racist statement.
I kid you not. That was his reasoning. And he’s an AP editor!
