Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin clearly and convincingly won last Thursday night's vice presidential forum with U.S. Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware. How do we know? Because the next morning most of the liberal talking heads were dismissing the event and, indeed, the vice presidency itself as of no consequence.
Had Gov. Palin been anything less than stellar, these same windbags would be, as they were before the event, emphasizing how absolutely vital is the veep's role and how crucial it was for Palin to excel.
The fact that she did excel is extraordinary, given the extremely immense pressure that she was under. Never mind that this was her first time in an uncontrolled and contentious national setting. That would be stressful enough. But after the buildup to this event (it was not really a debate), after Palin's less than shining performance in a national network news interview, and after Sen. John McCain's own mediocre week, she had to know how important this was.
She exhibited a remarkable grace and coolness under fire and a superb grasp of the facts, especially on world affairs. Funny, but aren't those exactly the qualities one looks for in the person who may be "a heartbeat away?"
But Gov. Palin did much more than that, and it is what ought to worry the Democratic ticket that claims to be the agent of "change."
She showed that a fresh face from outside Washington can bring to the table a truly new perspective, one that understands what changes the average American expects and one that approaches the problem from outside the beltway.
It is true that a presidential election is all about the person at the top of the ticket. This race must come down to whether Americans wish to go with the most untested candidate in modern history or the most independent-minded old hand since Ronald Reagan.
But combine Sarah Palin's native common sense and quick study with John McCain's unshakable integrity and grit, and there is hope for America yet.
One little piece of bullshit can make a whole article stink.
Love Palin. Just sorry she has been put in the position to rescue this weasel.
he=she
Sarah is John Wayne, riding out of the West to rescue the country from the bad guys. McCain had better make sure she gets maximum exposure for the next month, as many stump speeches and TV interviews as they can manage. He’ll do fine in the debates, although the MSM will say Obama buried him. Many more millions will watch these upcoming debates, and the format works in McCain’s favor. He needs to take off the gloves and expose Obama for what he is, a Marxist. As for Sarah,well, she’s magic with rural voters, everyday people...the working poor (middle class), and he’d be a fool to waste her.
Time grows short, people are starting to pay attention. (One friend shook his head and told me last night that it was too late! I said, we have a month to go! Now it’s really going to get interesting! A short time later I came home and turned on the TV: Fox last night: McCain through Sarah is now emphasizing Obama’s dealings with Ayres, that crook, Rezko, and the Rev. Wright. (And high time). Liberals screamed that McCain/Palin were throwing mud, why Obama was only four years old when Ayres lived down the street. Palin pointed out that Obama never repudiated Ayres’ behavior, motives, beliefs, and that means Obama isn’t just foolish, he’s dangerous
My thoughts exactly!
I agree....but correction, Obama is foolish, and dangerous and a thug politician...cheating all the way.
I didn’t see the whole thing but everytime I turned it over she was eating Biden’s lunch.
Very interesting around here this morning. McCain-Palin finally starts to turn the guns on The One regarding his associates yesterday, and the FR anti-McCain crowd suddenly shows up in full force the next morning. Very interesting.

However...only because of Palin will I tolerate him as president.
