WASHINGTON -- What did they do with the other Sarah Palin?
I mean the one who bases foreign policy experience on the proximity of Russia to Alaska and who speaks cutely about Vladimir Putin poking his little head into American airspace. Where did they put her?
The Palin who performed so miserably in one-on-one media interviews was nowhere to be seen during Thursday night's debate with Joe Biden. Instead, the affable, tough, determined pit-bull-hockey mom presented to the GOP convention was back with a jaw-jutting, happy-warrior vengeance.
So, yes, I am relieved. I had been concerned that she would stumble badly and humiliate herself. No fair-minded person wanted that. In fact, she managed to control the debate in many respects by bridging from the question asked to the talking point she wanted to hammer.

I honestly had never heard of Parker before any of this. A failing on my part, I suppose, but I see her referenced as some sort of GOP authority by the media. Again, I had never heard of her before this week, and I am fairly up to date on politics.
Kathy just can’t seem to get her knickers untwisted.
The brown cow moos at the silver moon.
...and if we ever hear about her again, it’ll be too soon.....
Neither have I. She strikes me as a MSNBC "conservative." And she certainly got her 15 minutes of fame this week.
Crawl back under your rock Kathleen.
Based on the quality of writing displayed in this piece, I’d suggest Kathleen Parker is not qualified to be a “journalist”. And given that most journalists in this country are not worth a garden slug snail trail, I don’t think that should be too high a bar for Kathleen to climb over.
She still fails.
Stop with the hating guys...
Dear old Kathleen is still drinking deeply of the Haterade, I see. Jealous much, you hag?
Nope, me neither. But I can define her in three words...jealous, jealous, jealous.
The irony is that she is using the move that made McCain famous. Any Republican can rise from obscurity simply by bashing conservatives.
I mean the one who bases a persons whole worth on the sour reaction of Couric’s constipated face and who speaks ridiculously about Sarah Palin needing to leave the Republican ticket. Where did they put her?
Neither had I.
She seems pretty lightweight to place so much judgment over an interview with a hostile interviewer.
Oh yeah, Parker is now a “maverick”! Expect a book deal by January 20, 2009.
McCain is like the comedian who sets himself up as the punchline.
what a C-word
her and Brooks and Will and the other effette beltway snobs are all the media talk about as conservatives
Parker is the one out of her league. Gov. Palin has always been genuine. She let Katie Couric push her with loaded questions, In the debate she showed she had learned from the experience - something every graduate student learns in facing very difficult questions on exams. If a question is unreasonably difficult, turn it into one you are prepared to answer. Partial credit is a wonderful thing - I passed many an exam by judicious use of this strategy.
Parker’s column focuses on social issues related to family, children and gender. Having grown up in Florida with four stepmothers and a variety of siblings — half-, step- and whole

No sale. Parker needs to go out to the same pasture as that other cow, Peggy Noonan.
So she's basically the Dr. Laura of the print media. No wonder she hates Palin.
“I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear, but I’m going to talk straight to the American people and let them know my track record also,” she said when asked to respond to a Biden comment about deregulation.”
If she is going to use a quote she should use the correct quote.
I may not answer the questions THE WAY that either the moderator or you want to hear.
I went back and listened to the debate to make sure.
Theres alot of difference in the two statements.
couldn’t find it on youtube, but the George Will SNL skit is a classic...”throw the ball George”.

And I would also advise Gov. Palin: no more winks - the last thing you want is for someone who somehow hasn't made up his mind yet to think you're someone running for VP on a lark.
That's not what she said. Here is what she actually said: "And I may not answer the questions THE WAY that either the moderator or you want to hear, but I'm..."

Parker... the unknown popular conservative columnist... perhaps needs to quit while she’s ahead. Or at least.. collect that check from the Obamessiah’s campaign and then shut the heck up.
You seem to confuse "hate" with reality.
"Whatever reason" is simply that the best of Sarah Palin was left on the cutting room floor, and they edited in the worst parts, then televised it.
Get a clue, and as for that you being a 'Conservative' thingy, well, I ain't buying that for a Noo Yawk second.
Governor Palin has a lot more cred around here than you do, Kathleen.
Nobody's mind was changed? Please!
I would have no problem with Parker criticizing whoever she wants as long as it is honest criticism. Leaving her reasoning of why Palin should dropout aside, Parker didn't just criticize but demanded the undemandable by saying Palin should be dropped. Neither campaign would be able to recover from such a dramatic action especially McCain in the environment of the Obama-loving MSM.
So Parker, who states she does indeed want McCain to win, in calling for the dropping of Palin was in essence asking McCain to make a change that guarantees he would lose...so that McCain could win. Great logic huh? And she knew full well that she would then be quoted by the MSM, as she was, in the media line that "even key conservatives are saying Palin should be dropped" meme.
This column is a classic example of trying to justify what was indeed her blunder and pretend that somehow she is showing courage. She is dishonest and has given National Review a big black eye.
I’m curious: how many races for mayor or governor have you won? Could you do what she did last night or at the GOP convention?
Sarah needs to be Sarah. If she winks, she winks. That’s who she is. There is absolutely nothing written in stone that says that a VP candidate cannot be charming or endearing the way she is.
She looks pretty haggard to me.
what a cunning stunt.
Wake me up when she warns us about Obama’s lies about mccain tax plan, Biden’s 22 lies in the debate, the socialist past of obama, Obama’s black separation theology church, etc.
I like the winks.

Hmmmm...are we jealous, Kathleen?
LOL
I had the same question. Parker knows this....how, exactly? Is she a mind reader? Is she merely projecting her own mental state on everyone else?
Here is what I do know from Gallup polling data over the last two weeks. McCain's biggest problem has not been losing his voters or undecided voters to Obama, but losing some of his own voters to "undecided." These are voters who originally went with McCain after he picked Palin and had a very successful convention, and then they had second thoughts after the financial mess began. Many of these voters are white women. To the extent that any of these voters were initially concerned about Palin's performance in the interviews, her performance last night should reassure them and -- if everything else goes right (no pun intended) -- eventually they will return to McCain.
“There is absolutely nothing written in stone that says that a VP candidate cannot be charming or endearing the way she is.”
Nothing to keep the vipers in the press from twisting it around, either.
Don’t misunderstand: I didn’t and don’t have a problem with the wink, just don’t make a habit of it.
I saw the directive a couple of days ago regarding the discouraging of Vanity posts by grass roots conservatives.
Their opinions and writing are far superior than anything this bozo has to say.
The great thing about the internet is you don’t even have to pay the commenters and editorial/Vanity writers a salary, no payroll taxes, no 401k or health benefits. They pay you!
Is this a great country or what?
We need more FReeper vanities and less posting of drivel. Why is her opinion worth more than others because somebody is willing to employ her in a MSM publication?
reminds me how my country pals always comment that big johnsons are wasted on stupid ugly men
This airhead is irrelevent.
Can we get you a Saucer of Milk Kat??
Pray for W, Palin/McCain and Our Troops
Who cares what the vipers in the press think? Have you been watching the Bush Administration? That’s what happens to Republicans and conservatives who care too much about what the viper media thinks. They end up losing every argument, every news cycle, every spin war no matter what they say or do. And then they go hide in the White House or wherever Bush and Cheney have been spending their time, never again communicating regularly with the American people. These people didn’t learn a damn thing from Ronald Reagan or anyone else on how to communicate with the people that they were elected to serve.
McCain is never going to win this election by trying to please the Obama media. And you know what? Until I learned second-hand that MSNBC was harping on it, I wasn’t even aware that anyone was making any fuss about the winks. I would have liked to have seen these viper media clowns focus on the 24 separate gaffes that Joe Biden made in his roughly 45 minutes of speaking (NRO has much more on this). Not Sarah’s winks (or her other many charms), or her shoes, or any of the other nonsense that those knuckleheads chose to obsess about.
Same here. Kathleen who?
They both have the same jealous elitist spin on Sarah.
For the record, Kathleen Parker is an abortion advocate too, which accounts for her disdainful reference to the "morality play".
The wink made me lol.
Here, here!
Why is her opinion worth more than others because somebody is willing to employ her in a MSM publication?
It's nice to expose her as a fraud. Especially since she's become the latest-in a growing list of so-called "conservative" voices in the media-who say something negative about a real conservative politician.
