Palin Gets Rave Reviews for Debate
NewsMax ^ | October 3, 2008 | Staff

On Thursday night, Sarah Palin showed that she has the "right stuff" to be one heartbeat away from the presidency.

Under fire for rambling answers in recent television interviews, Palin went into last night's debate the underdog against the sharp-tongued Joe Biden.

But Palin, in style and substance, demonstrated she can hold her own on the national stage.

Pollster Frank Luntz's focus group on Fox News watched the St. Louis debate. The group was evenly divided between Kerry and Bush supporters from the 2004 election. After the debate Luntz asked if she won, and his group almost unanimously said she had.

The New York Post cover Friday shared a similar sentiment , roaring: "PIT BULL SARAH SHOWS HER BITE."

The Post began "Sarah Palin used folksy language, winks, smiles and sharp elbows to try to put seasoned rival Joe Biden on the defensive in last night's vice-presidential debate."

The Post's star columnist, Andrea Peyser, offered effusive praise.

"I walked in last night expecting a train wreck from our gal of the moment. Instead, I saw fireworks," Peyser wrote. "Sarah rules," she continued, adding, "In her first, and last, vice-presidential debate, Sarah Palin was strong. Articulate. Folksy. And warm."

During the verbal fisticuffs, Palin made clear she is not one of the good old boys.

"It's so obvious that I'm a Washington outsider and I'm someone who's just not used to the way you guys operate," Palin said.

Palin employed a similar "outsider" strategy to defeat the incumbent Republican governor in Alaska.

Even the liberal New York Times had to admit, albeit grudgingly, that Palin scored points in the first and last vice presidential debate.

Not only did she do well during the debate, her recent interview with Carl Cameron was super.

"Sarah Palin .... shone through like a supernova last night. ...
She crushed Biden last night. Nobody will remember Joe Biden 20 years from now.
Nobody will ever forget Sarah Palin, they just don't realize it yet.
Sarah Palin will be the first woman President of the United States.
Children born decades from now will see her picture on our currency.
There will be statues, bridges, and airports named in her honor.
She will permeate the history books as a leader
who opened a new and vibrant chapter in American history."

Actually one article that I saw posted on here from the NYT pretty much conceded Sarah won.

Biden bloviated all over the place and came off precisely as a 35 year entrenched politician, and is now being shown to have made glaring misrepresentations on McCain's record and his own, and millions and millions of people will hear of it from Fox (through folks like Rove and MOrris), through talk radio, and through the internet.

But all of that pales in comparison to Sarah's ability, even when cheerleading for McCain, to connect with the American people in her style, in her wording, and in her demeanor.

Common Americans are naturally drawn to her. She speaks to them...speaks for them. All of the MSM attempts to the contrary, that is what she does and the McCain campaign needs to have her constalntly out in front of the people doing just that.

SARAH PALINFIELD DRESSED JOE BIDEN

I'M VOTING FOR SARAH...AND SO ARE A WHOLE LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE

Senator John McCain a bit of good, freeing him to focus on the other troubles shadowing his campaign."

McCain IS the problem shadowing his campaign.

These kinds of exchanges aren't about issues. They are about candidates ability to connect with the majority of the American people. McCain should go on vacation and let Palin do the campaigning.

Send Sarah, Todd and Mitt to WS, MN and MI. McCain is close in WS and MN. Obama is buying ads in both states. McCain had a horrible week and he is up in both states. We got their backs here in Florida. Obama will not win FL.

Lets quickly analyze their styles. Obama is airy but he talks down to people (negative). McCain is respectful but not energizing. No one shows up for anything with Biden so who care-non factor.

Sarah is like 10,000 megawatts, great looks plus she has “got Reagan.” She has a positive can do attitude and people LOVE it. I love how Sarah said “Let Todd and I go to Michigan.” Bless her. She is a leader and a winner.

Mitt’s a midwestern boy too and Todd is a sportsman and neighbor we would enjoy being friends with. They will connect in WS, MN and MI. They can win those states and flip Iowa.

Obama is in trouble in MN and WS. Obama is buying ad time. Norm Coleman is killing Al Franken in MN. Sarah, Todd and Mitt can start the fire in MN and WS and carry it to MI and maybe Iowa.

Sarah could sweep the Midwest (not Illinois). She knows it too. She said “let Todd and I go to MI.” She could bag MN, WS and MI. I bet she could flip Iowa too. She could make sure Missouri and Indiana are locked down. Plus Ohio and PA. The people in most of PA are more like people from MN and WS. McCain is up in WS and MN and can win both. The people in Ohio are more like MN and WS than IL or Delaware.

Obama’s people know Sarah can lock up WS, MN and possibly MI and Obama should be worried.

I'm no chicken. Last week was one of the worst years of my 50-year life politically. But I watched every minute of the debate last night. I must say Governor Palin went well beyond my expectations. The MSM tried to set me up to witness a train wreck, but what I saw was a breath of fresh air and a renewed hope in “everyday” (CONSERVATIVE) America. I fear that America's best days are behind Her, but Governor Palin could be our last, best hope.

This is very encouraging.

I read somewhere on here [I can’t recall the author] who described the Palin factor in the North Midwest, thinking she could be decisive particularly north of Minneapolis, Central Wisconsion and all over the U.P. of Michigan.

I hate to see McCain throw Michigan under the bus. Send Sarah there with Ted Nugent and let her rip Kwame in half.

Thank you. I have done a little marketing. Right now I am putting my brain in full gear to figure out how we can bag WS, MN and MI. It is staring us in the face. 50 + million people saw her last night.

Sarah can do it. She knows she can win MI. She said it today. She says she can do it and you can take it to the bank. We love her for her guts and can do attituide.

We should not forget - VERY Important:
MI had a ballot initiative to end affirmative action. Ward Connerly was the architect. The polls show it losing by 15+ %. It was dead, sunk, bury it, history. It won by 30% or so! White people were terrified to tell a pollster they were for it. Sarah can win MI. Todd and Mitt can help.

Speaking of marketing - I wish Reagan’s old pro Michael Deaver was still alive. He did the Reagan “Morning In America” ads. I still watch them on You Tube and they can bring tears to my eyes. He would know what to do with Sarah and McCain. Sarah is pure gold.

The McCain campaign has gold with Sarah and the gold mines are in WS, MN, MI, IA, OH, and PA. PA is largely a midwestern state (culturally). Hunters and outdoor people are huge in PA. Todd is a union guy and so was Sarah. Obama was inthe Islamo-union and Joe was in the loony-union. Todd and Sarah can connect in these key states/rustbelt.

I am telling everyone that Sarah will put out the Obama faux messiah fire like a firehose on a birthday candle. I think they had to prep her for the debate - a lot to learn. Now she can campaign and look out!

She will wake up any leaners thinking about Obama or women who wanted Hillary. She will also motivate the base. She can sweep the midwest except IL because she speaks to us and midwesterners can here it even better because she speaks their wonderful American dialect of the North Midwest.

Now we have to do our part with volunteering and donating more $ plus motivating each other.

Volunteer and Donate - do it now.

McCain’s Barracuda
By Tamara Wilhite

Sung to Heart’s song “Barracuda”

I saw the end of the debate today
I had to turn my eyes away
Wanted to smile at your son – kisses he’ll get from anyone
Alaskan mom tales – it never fails!

Among the ice and the weeds
I know you’re going to ambush me
Democrats fall down onto their knees
Who could do it? – Barracuda!

Two years ago made governor
Before that a small time mayor
Promised to be a reformer,
This woman is a change?

Working mom riles real feminists
They’ve got to make up lies real quick
If one fails, try another trick.
Who could do it? – Barracuda!

“Sell me, sell you” the congress said
Down into deep debt above my head
Who is it that doesn’t feel the taxing blues?

All that night and all the next
To argue and debate and then to jest
Mom of five they say is a tool or fool

If the real thing don’t do the trick – no!
They’ve got to make up more lies quick
Yet sexy librarian is still in it.
Who could do it? – McCain’s Barracuda!

I was gone most of the day, but I want to know why, why, why the media is not pointing out all the gaffes that Joe Biden made.

The only one I heard say anything was Laura Ingraham on Bill O’Reilly right now.

Has anyone else pointed his mistakes out during the day??

You are right. What got me was that CNN said a few things that didn’t strike me as true (of course, when was CNN not in the can for the Dims?).

1. They said the debate didn’t influence anyone. I beg to differ; it made ea huge difference...both by viewership and by actual poll movement. To follow up on Luntz, about 1/3 of the room said they changed their votes after the debate. Way to go Sarah!

2. CNN said that those little lines they use to judge reactions favored Biden...in my estimation after watching those for awhile, Sarah killed him. They were smoking Obama crack.

Here in MN, people are really talking about Sarah. Momentum is gaining in MN. I think MN has a shot at going McCain/Palin. Sarah has the same accent and is a hockey mom. People can relate to that. McCain/Palin need to return to MN and hit St. Paul, Duluth and other cities in MN. Go Sarah!

McCain/Palin were here in MN on 9/19 in Anoka (a northern suberb). I was there... about 13,000 folks. She was electric. She needs to come back to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Here is a pic of the Victory Rally in Blaine, MN on 9/19. McCain making his points

I whole-heartedly agree with every word you just said!

Except one: “Mitt”

This guy is no friend of Republican’s. He “adapts” his “positions” for the crowd which he thinks might be voting for him. How is it, do you think, he was voted governor of the most liberal state in America? Because he stuck to those “strong” conservative values??

Leave lowly Mitt the freak out of it. If Sarah and Todd can speak the same language as those folks in Minnesota and Wisconsin, so much the better. We have a real chance to take a couple of “blue” states.

But “Mitt” will turn off far more voters than he gains. GO HOME MITT. GO HOME, GO HOME, GO HOME, GO HOME!

It's funny. Everyone's been focused on the Midwest for at least a month now.

When was the last time you heard a peep -- even a little peep -- about California?

I think something's brewing there. I don't think the Drive-By's want to talk a whole lot about California.
