Lawmaker Accused of Fannie Mae Conflict of Interest (Barney in trouble!)
Fox News (baby!) ^ | Friday, October 03, 2008 | Bill Sammon

WASHINGTON — Unqualified home buyers were not the only ones who benefitted from Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank’s efforts to deregulate Fannie Mae throughout the 1990s.

So did Frank’s partner, a Fannie Mae executive at the forefront of the agency’s push to relax lending restrictions.

Now that Fannie Mae is at the epicenter of a financial meltdown that threatens the U.S. economy, some are raising new questions about Frank's relationship with Herb Moses, who was Fannie’s assistant director for product initiatives. Moses worked at the government-sponsored enterprise from 1991 to 1998, while Frank was on the House Banking Committee, which had jurisdiction over Fannie.

Hmmm, McCain probably won't touch it since it is so "complicated", and he risks offending a gay person. Is it too late to dump McCain from the ticket?

This decadent little grafter oughta be in prison.

On second thought, he’d probably enjoy the extracurricular activities there too much.

Although Frank now blames Republicans for the failure of Fannie and Freddie, he spent years blocking GOP lawmakers from imposing tougher regulations on the mortgage giants.

Congwessman Fwank is wight to bwame the Wepubwicans. Those Wepubwicans didn't impose hawd enough. Bawney knows about imposing hawd.

Nothing will happen. There are two many crooks from both parties. That’s what this bail out is about. Got to pay people off to keep them from talking.

I was snookered by W. I now regret ever voting for him. He’s no different than the rest.

Politically Correct extortion!

Barney is a gay man.

Is Barney untouchable? Is he going to be allowed to walk away from this crime unscathed?

I want Barney behind bars along with Chris Dodd, two very powerful men who are acting as a Oligarchy...(Look at those cronies who are covering for Frank and Dodd)

Sickening! They should have been fired...Obama figures into this mess as he prospered also from the FM&FM largess at the hands of the dealers. A POX on their heads....NO OBAMA! he is already up to his neck in dirty politics and planning to tax the holy heck out of every one that makes a dime and GIVE it to people who never earned it nor deserve it. Extortion that is a form of Welfare...that is what Barney's bail out is. Fire the Bum!

Interesting: Barney Frank is physically a walrus, in character a pig, and in the cesspool that is our congress, a small, though slimy, fish. While Dems remain in charge, he’s untouchable. If we ever regain power, he’ll swim for a bottom where he can hide, and surface for air as infrequently as possible. But we should be forgiving: aside from doing more than anyone else to derail our economy, he only stole money....

The republicans were in charge and did nothing. I remember Tom Delay all giddy ‘cause they controlled congress and the presidency. He was told to tone it down. He did.

years after sentence was completed.

Right after President Bush became Governor of Texas,
he changed it to allow these felons had no waiting time.

Barney Frank and the Male Prostitute – 1989
The era of sour feelings on Capitol Hill continued after House Speaker James. C. Wright’s resignation and the smear campaign against his successor, Thomas S. Foley. In a third blockbuster scandal, Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Barney Frank admitted a lengthy relationship with a male hooker who ran a bisexual prostitution service out of Frank’s apartment.

The story was broken by the conservative Washington Times newspaper, which trumpeted every juicy morsel with front-page hype. Though Frank was apparently ignorant of some of the prostitute’s activities, his indiscretion was so great that his standing in Congress was greatly damaged and a House reprimand passed overwhelmingly in July 1990. His home district in Massachusetts was more forgiving, reelecting him easily the following November.

Although 300 million Americans may think he is a total scumbag he is sent to Congress by about 450,000 voters in his district, half of whom don’t even bother to vote. Frank was reelected in 2004 with a little more than 218,000 votes.

Why wouldn't he?

Gays pay taxes, too. I would think those that are predisposed to Conservatism, their lifestyle aside, would want to see corruption punished, regardless.

In fact, I would think it would be a great challenge to the Log Cabin Republicans, McCain could score some points with this by appealing to them for their sense of "fairness".

Do you have any evidence, any at all, of our President being or acting corrupt?

As I said, he may be inept in some areas. I’ll add to that, he’s let us down on some important issues, and he hasn’t been as forthright, for whatever his personal reasons are, as we would like, but labeling him a crook, or calling him corrupt is well beyond reason.

I would expect this at DU or HuffPost, but at FR from a FReeper of 8 years?

No need to respond to me. None at all.
