John McCain is pulling the plug on Michigan, a severe blow to his strategy for taking the White House.
Campaign officials confirmed the decision Thursday to pull TV ads and people out of Michigan, as they scramble to shift resources to states like Ohio, Florida and Wisconsin.
It came the same day Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama spoke to large rallies in Grand Rapids and Lansing.
"It's not good news," said Charles Yob, former GOP National Committeeman and co-chair of McCain's Michigan campaign.

Between this and the House’s passing of the Paulson & Pork Bailout bill without even negotiating any conditions, this has been one grim day.
Why waste your $$$ in a blue State that has corrupt Detroit?

With the population demographic of Michigan, and the continued decline of the auto industry and the state’s economy, and with a dedicated socialist governer, McCain would just be setting a match to any more money he spends in Michigan. Good decision to allocate his resources somewhere where they have a chance of doing him some good.
Not much point in Obama being there if McCain conceded the state.
And if their is evidence that this Wall Street mess was started by evil left wing forces for Obama, there will be a civil war in this Country.

I’m thinking Headfake. He pulls out of Michigan for a couple of weeks, but sends Palin there a couple of times, then goes full tilt just before the election, by going to the Reagan Democrats.
And Detroit just needs to be suckerpunched.
I wish there was a civil war in the U.S., because the political left believes in gun control while conservatives believe in the Second Amendment! This gives conservatives an advantage already!
Sarah Palin already said something about wanting to continue campaigning in Michigan, even after McCain stops doing so.

Send her to Colorado, which is a state we had in '04, and that we really have to hold on to this year. And one in which she also has hockey-mom appeal.

Curtailing campaign resources and money is fine - but DO NOT ANNOUNCE that you’re conceding a state to Obama. Just quietly decrease efforts and money there and keep your mouth shut! If I didn’t know better (surely) I’d think McCain just likes the feeling of shooting his own self in the foot! Governor Palin is right; never verbally concede defeat anywhere until the fat lady sings - and I haven’t sung yet!
Or to have the National Weather Service seed the clouds in the area just before Election Day.

Like I mentioned in another thread, both Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney can hold rallies in different parts of Michigan at the same time, or they can hold rallies together in Michigan. There are plenty of both conservatives and Republicans who will be more than willing to hold rallies all over the U.S. at the same time or on the same day! This is truly a political fight between either keeping the U.S. a capitalistic country for the long-term or turning the U.S. into a socialistic country for the long-term, and to truly ignore this fact is too risky for everybody!
